Michael was a fan of major grunge bands like AiC, Nirvana, and Soundgarden, just to name a few. Rest In Peace friend, you are missed for your many appreciated attributes.

I'm finally hearing this song for the very first time. Alice in Chains have been one of my favorite bands since I was in middle school. Although A.I.C. are moving on with William DuVall(and he is a good singer as well). Layne can never, ever be replaced. The song sounds great as well.

One of the first albums i bought was the AIC music bank, i was probably about 11 or 12. I am 18 now and it is still with me, it still reminds me of the good times i had with my brother rockin' out and being young and dumb, for that 40 dollars wasn't enough. RIP L.S.
Actually cunt, it "died" in 08' which was when this and "get born again" were recorded. And Staley couldn't give a fuck. In my opinion AIC's music by and large still holds up very well and gets quite a bit of airplay. Almost more so than when they were current(I completely disreguard Cantrell's present incarnation of AIC) So, like go fuck yourself boyo.

In one of his last interviews in the late 90's Staley said he was working on a project himself where he was writing everything and playing all the instruments, I'd be very interested in hearing that material. Theres gotta be some unreleased work there since he had his own home studio. I'm finally hearing this song for the very first time. Alice in Chains have been one of my favorite bands since I was in middle school. Although A.I.C. are moving on with William DuVall(and he is a good singer as well). Layne can never, ever be replaced. The song sounds great as well.

This is one of the most badass, chunkiest, heaviest riffs of all time! Jerry mother fucking Cantrella is a fucking GOD. He went to my junior high and high school (Spanaway, WA). Of all places, this man came from my hometown. Wow. What an inspiration! Cant wait to see him again, watch my vids, I got some badass footage of him soloing and tearing it up in Seattle March 2010.

One of the first albums i bought was the AIC music bank, i was probably about 11 or 12. I am 18 now and it is still with me, it still reminds me of the good times i had with my brother rockin' out and being young and dumb, for that 40 dollars wasn't enough. RIP L.S.

Actually cunt, it "died" in 08' which was when this and "get born again" were recorded. And Staley couldn't give a fuck. In my opinion AIC's music by and large still holds up very well and gets quite a bit of airplay. Almost more so than when they were current(I completely disreguard Cantrell's present incarnation of AIC) So, like go fuck yourself boyo.

@DaveS12382 ...apparently you need a little history lesson son. It would of been a bit hard to record with Staley in '08 since he was already dead punk ass. It was recorded in '98. Secondly, they do still sound good, but nothing like they did 15-20 years ago. That sound unfortunately died with Layne in '02. You need to pay more attention to the facts instead of the f bombs son.

What really pisses me off, is the fact that Layne didnt even get a chance to grow into an icon. His death made him an icon like all other musicans who took their life at an early age. His voice carried AIC this far, think of what they would've been if he didnt die, and his sobriety was 50/50. Truely amazing voice, he made you feel what he was singing about ....no singing lessons, no nothing pure talent!!

In one of his last interviews in the late 90's Staley said he was working on a project himself where he was writing everything and playing all the instruments, I'd be very interested in hearing that material. Theres gotta be some unreleased work there since he had his own home studio. As far as I know the last stuff put out is this song along with "Get Born again" and the cover of 'Another brick in the wall". If his family could release any remaining solo work it would be really incredible.

@skyehoyt1971 Jerry is not singing vocals in this song. This is Staley Double tracked. You can hear Jerry very clearly in "Get Born Again" singing backing vocals and the chorus. It's a misconception they sang together in every song, thats simply not the case at all. Not by a longshot.

@DaveS12382 I have had the same fucked up drug usage as you (though it was great at times) My ex wife of 19 years was on multiple different meds for her "mental affliction" NONE of the medications did anything but turn her into a zombie. Now add her alcoholism on top of that and Life slowly became a horror movie. But this is only my experience and everyone has a different chemical balance or imbalance. If they work for you more power to ya! No anger on this side of the fence. Good luck to you..
