It has just come to light that officer Bergin was arrested in a nearby town at 3 in the morning, as he was attempting to break into the home of a former girlfriend. He was drunk, he lied to the police, and he told them that in Sandy, "we still have the good old boy system" and therefore, he should be allowed to break the law.
Also, the Sandy police circulated a "Wanted" poster with the face of the woman in this video, threatening her. In the margin, it reads, "Up your ass Fouad."
Just to add, Officer Bergin was also high on drugs at the time of his arrest. Given the opportunity to call a lawyer from his jail cell, Bergin elected to call the woman he had been terrorizing instead, further harassing her.
And, he's still on the police force in Sandy. Chief Skelton continues to support and defend him.

So this guy was naked. Did the clothes burn from his body? Does this make him more of a threat? Maybe it was his unresponsive behavior. Why did they feel compelled to kill rather than help? The film's thesis is a pretty clumsy lie. The 28-second interval between "on scene" and "shots fired" referred to in the film isn't either of the first responders. It's undisputed that the two first responders tried to help Kaady for six minutes while he resisted and got violent. Look it up.

Pulled over because, according to the officer, the car he was driving seemed too nice for him. 24 seconds into the traffic stop, he was shot to death by police for no apparent reason. They then tasered him for 5 minutes, perhaps to show that he had been "uncooperative" and needed to be tased before the killing. Pity for them, there were witnesses.
Vernon Allen: Homeless man shot to death on a downtown street early in the morning. The police first claimed that he had a knife. Then they said no, it was a crack pipe. No, wait. It was a knife.
Jose Mejia Poot: Shot to death by police in a mental hospital. He was there because police arrested him for being ten cents short of bus fare. He did not speak English, and they did not speak Spanish, so they assumed he was insane.
Deonte Keller: African American youth shot to death by officer Terry Kruger, a known neo-Nazi. Kruger shot Keller in the back, and then made up lies to cover up after himself. Kruger is well known for abusing people, has lost lawsuits on this issue, and still works for Portland Police. There is footage of him wearing a Nazi uniform and participating in Nazi rituals.
And the list goes on and on and on. Every time they do this, they claim that the victim did not matter. They claim the victim was "on drugs" or "crazy" or, as the video says, "or somehow had it coming." Usually, they are demonstrably lying. I used to live in Portland. They shot a mental patient inside the hospital. They also shot at but thankfully missed an unarmed postal worker who was tired of being pulled over. His car had been stolen and recovered, but not taken off the list. They shot at him in the post office parking lot.
This is a crime. A district attorney should be notified, to review the case. Both police officers should be stripped of their badges, and sentenced to prison time, not only for murder, but for the concealment of vital evidence and aiding and embedding. This deed must not go unpunished.
The District attorney is part of the problem. Many District Attorneys believe they represent the police. When the District Attorney presented the case to the Grand Jury you can bet he presented it in the way most favorable to the police and many of the facts were not even presented to the Grand Jury. when did I say that the official police report was wrong? It said he seemed like he was high. What seems like being on PCP could have also been the shock of his injuries. Seeing as the lab report came back negative it would seem that the cops were wrong when they said that it seemed that he was high. This does not make their report wrong. Their report explains what they thought at the moment.

Ive been in a bad car accident. A cop late for work turned me 180 degrees. The cops and firefighters verbally abused me and never checked on me. I know what a taser feels like after not resisting. Incidentally, Bergin, the Sandy cop in this video, was just arrested. FINALLY. But it wasn't for this killing. It was for something else, and they are not saying what, other than it involved "ID theft, official misconduct, and misuse of a license."

UPDATE:
It has just come to light that officer Bergin was arrested in a nearby town at 3 in the morning, as he was attempting to break into the home of a former girlfriend. He was drunk, he lied to the police, and he told them that in Sandy, "we still have the good old boy system" and therefore, he should be allowed to break the law.
Also, the Sandy police circulated a "Wanted" poster with the face of the woman in this video, threatening her. In the margin, it reads, "Up your ass Fouad."

Just to add, Officer Bergin was also high on drugs at the time of his arrest. Given the opportunity to call a lawyer from his jail cell, Bergin elected to call the woman he had been terrorizing instead, further harassing her.

The film's thesis is a pretty clumsy lie. The 28-second interval between "on scene" and "shots fired" referred to in the film isn't either of the first responders. It's undisputed that the two first responders tried to help Kaady for six minutes while he resisted and got violent. Look it up.

I'm sorry but if you're a police officer or there are more police at the scene shooting an unarmed man is ridiculous. What harm could he possibly be? If he was naked they could see that there were no knife. What could he do? We're talking about a normal human being I assume, not the incredible HULK

If he acted strange it's because he was injured and in shock, and he handled the situation as well as ANY of you would have done. He crashed his car because he was on FIRE. He had caught FIRE. God, what is wrong with the police apologists who have posted here?

I live in clackamas county and all I have to say is that the sheriff office here are a bunch of corrupt stupid bastards. A sheriff that worked at Rex Putnam high who was responsible for thousands of kids lives, went on a robbery spree to score oxycontin, he got caught and is in jail where he belongs. being bars not behind a badge.

I have a question for the cops commenting here. Doesn't the police academy have an obligation to GUARANTEE that no cop graduates without the knowledge that severe head trauma can cause the victim to APPEAR to be drunk or drugged even if the victim is COMPLETELY DRUG FREE? Severe head trauma can cause the victim to stagger and stumble, babble incoherently, vomit all over himself/herself - exactly as if he/she is very drunk.

I used to live in Portland. They shot a mental patient inside the hospital. They also shot at but thankfully missed an unarmed postal worker who was tired of being pulled over. His car had been stolen and recovered, but not taken off the list. They shot at him in the post office parking lot.

This is a crime. A district attorney should be notified, to review the case. Both police officers should be stripped of their badges, and sentenced to prison time, not only for murder, but for the concealment of vital evidence and aiding and embedding. This deed must not go unpunished.

The District attorney is part of the problem. Many District Attorneys believe they represent the police. When the District Attorney presented the case to the Grand Jury you can bet he presented it in the way most favorable to the police and many of the facts were not even presented to the Grand Jury. I wish someone could interview the Grand Jury members and find out what was presented to them.

Um, no. They shot him 28 seconds after they arrived at the scene. Eye witnesses, police recordings, and physical evidence all make it painfully clear that they NEVER attempted to calm or help him. You must be a cop.

when did I say that the official police report was wrong? It said he seemed like he was high. What seems like being on PCP could have also been the shock of his injuries. Seeing as the lab report came back negative it would seem that the cops were wrong when they said that it seemed that he was high. This does not make their report wrong. Their report explains what they thought at the moment.

for the last 20 years we have been a police state. I can not tell you how many a year I have written about and daily this happens in the us. Sadly to take them to court or fight it would end up with parents in jail and another cover up. Believe me I know what I speak of.
This is daily in the usa and in texas very often most happens in 3 cities alone to account for at least 1 third of it all

Charge these cops with murder and kill them in on national TV (and use a guillotine!) for all these cops to see justice done. The only deterrent they might understand. and F... the "thin blue line" when cops stop protecting bad cops I might feel some sense of security in my country.
