  • My dad has 2 of Freddie Roach's albums, "The Soul Book", and "Mocha Motion!". I now own the records among many other jazz organist albums.

I purchased "Good Move" last year from a old Jazz music store in Harlem.

I'm 22 years old, and I really dig this music. I wonder though, whatever happened to Freddie Roach? I did research on him, and after he released "My People (Soul People)" in 1967, he was never heard from again.

  • nice album!! thank you!!

  • @SAYIT1966,. You’re more than welcome!

  • Thanks for posting this... This version of TENDERLY has always amazed me... It really sounds more like a GROOVE HOLMES thing than FREDDIE who normally sounds a bit "darker" and more hard boppish... but I love it nonetheless ! ! !

  • @EddieLandsberg,..Glad you like it, thanks for passing by!

  • The best groove organist out there, great feel, warmth and soul. A simple style with a keen feel for shuffle beats and straight down the line no messin' groove. Seems there are not many guys out there wishing to emulate his style, most seem too keen to try and produce a 2nd rate missed attempt at a Jimmy Smith feel - zzzzzzz!

Sadly Freddie went off the boil when he left Blue Note but still produced the odd gem like this.

  • @baldieman4,..Thanks for a very interesting comment!
