I think that often happens. We try to help the people we dearly love, but it is often strangers who benefit. Maybe exactly because those closest to us are so difficult to reach, we try even harder. Well done Jack.
What a cool guy and pioneer for that era. And the story he told about his Dad was probably an unusual amount of honesty for a TV programme back in those days. Thanks Jack!
I got into fitness literally 3 months before this man died. With his help and that of other fitness fanatics, I went from 5'8'' 204lbs to 5'8'' 160lbs and am in the best shape of my life. Thanks for everything Jack.
Jack, your wonderful juicer keeps me healthy and you inspire me so much. It's pouring outside and I didn;t feel like going to the gym, after watching this video I decide to go anyway, so what if I get wet! thank you Jack.
Now that he's reunited with his Dad I'm sure that he's padding him on the back and telling him: "You did good, son. Thanks for learning from my mistakes."
@MorganMckinnely Sad, but proof that what he said works. How many Americans live past the age of 96? How many die before the age of 70 due to bad health?
@TheTaiyakiGuy, Jack was on top of his game and knew how to motivate and inspire a person's life. I feel that Jack should had more time to fulfill his knowledge and skills to enhance everybody's life. He will be miss so much. I hope that Jack put my father in shape. In his honor, i will read the whole Anatomy textbook.
Jack was such a great speaker and storyteller, wasn't he? He could have pursued a career as that on the side if he wanted to. He has so much charisma.
I'm slightly overweight myself, but not terribly since I have pretty good metabolism. But if my weight ever gets out of control, I know who to see about it.
Jack was such a great influence on my family and I. I remember watching him in the living room as a kid. I love this article I came across about his life. bit. ly/dMRiai
My Mom and I exercised to him when I was a girl. I loved Happy, his big white German Shepherd. He was a good man and helped many people to become healthier, including me.
When I Jack passed, I jumped on my floor and did 96 push up's out of respect for his dedication to fitness. Thanks Jack for always giving us fitness and positive energy.
Well Jack you never let ANYONE who has watched you over the Century, down. My Granddad watched you until he was 84. And I , and everyone else will watch you in our Memories. Thanks For the Memories.
@JudgeJulieLit yea haha.. most people are too lazy to keep fit or prevent sickness and resort to taking antibiotics that just make the germs stronger..
oh and btw I knew Jack was 96 when he died but like I expressed in my comment.. that was young for him..
I was at a smoothie place next to the gym the day before Jack died and looked at the wall of many autographed body builders while there. An 20 inch black and white autographed posing photo of Jack was on the wall and I looked at it for a while and was amazed he was still around; and then tonight, I saw the new alert on cable news a moment ago that he was gone..... by jack....
I know you always said "death will ruin your image" but if it's any consolation you have inspired me to want to take better care of myself. You did your best to help people, but now it's time for you to rest and let someone else do it, Jack.
Jack Lalanne is got to be the only person on Earth that has the common sense to eat Dark Green Leafy Vegetables, 5 servings of fruit a day+ Juicing, and eating lean meats like Fish every day of his life....not only that, but exercising 2 hours a day. How many people do that? Not many, not even me.
They should put this TV show back on air an put it on TMC where they play all they classics because like so many people have said this would imspirer so many people. God bless you Jack Lalanne.
eat fresh food, Meat eggs and vitamins and miniral. you can substitute it with multi vitamin pills. Have some Vegetables and Fruits. and Stop taking too much Sugar Containing Products like Soda cake etcc..
This makes me sad, my story is exactly like his except my dad is still alive. Ive insisted for years that my dad quit smoking, eat healthier, stop eating all the sugary snack foods but he doesnt listen and on occasion has gotten violently defensive, he even uses the age excuse not to excercise. I just don't know what to do but I dont want to see this happen to my dad.
What an incredibly remarkable man. Virtue, conscience, spirit, devotion? He's a miracle. I love this guy!!! And you know, at 95 he still works out 2 hours every day!!!!
@KSJKO The fattest, but the most productive. Something has to give, most countries still dont look down to people who smoke.Have you ever been to Europe its like on giant ashtray in conjunction with there siestas and less the 40 hour work week, Americans would most likely be thin as well. Jack has the right message even to this day with his juice commercial. Still theres no excuse to be the heaviest country but, there are many other factors why so many stress eat.
@KSJKO I'm sure he doesn't see it that way. He likely saw it coming. In fact, he's probably impressed with the fact that we're still watching his shows and reading his books. :-)
@KSJKO Well it actually doesn't have the highest percentage of overweight people, but that isn't to say it's fat as fuck! PS: Sorry for replying to a comment you posted over a year ago. :P
I live the Jack Lalanne way and it works. I feel great!! This really works. Thanks Jack. I am healthy and full of energy and feeling great because of you!!!
this man is an inspiration! Even back in the day Americans were out of shape and unfit. All his teachings and facts still apply today, I just read about him in SUCCESS magazine for the first time and just now noticed all of his hard work and accomplishments. He will be missed when he passes. Hopefully not soon, but he will leave a huge legacy and his name will live for a long time.
I'm a hardgainer and I've spent the last ten years of my life trying to get a six pack but won't develope. I can understand why so many people give up on excerising espeacially when they can see the results on their body.
This is so good. I love this guy, he's so friggen smart! It all coincides with what I've been tought in my fitness course and he knew it all so long ago.
Lol. Jack Lalanne. What a guy. He was so headstrong about exercise and nutrition that if a person decided to eat ho-ho's and take a nap instead of working out that day he felt it was him that let YOU down? Notice his zest and attitude. He loves it and loves life itself. He is the original ..and the real deal.
He really was one of the FIRST if not the first fitness Guru's out there, and look at the proof! He's still kicking it and almost ninety? Will probably go of natural causes too... We can all learn from this great man...
I love this gentleman, he's the pinnacle of health, we are in a dark time of medicine, stormed by pharmaceutical companies, we need 1 million jack lalannes
He's definitely the man. However, even one million Jack LaLannes wouldn't be enough to motivate all the fat-asses I see walking around.
I think eliminating buffet restaurants and convenience stores would help with the obesity problem. However, I suppose it would cause our economy to crash.
Your right jeffw1267, the other problem is if you have a mentality like Jack nowadays, people and friends call you a crackpot, or crazy when your healthy. Its not only a disease on the body, but the mind has been shoot to crap by todays standards
This is true.My fam in Mexico who could be considered middle class think I am a health nut. They complain of getting fat, headaches, depression, anxiety, fatigue, even a slower thinking at age 40. They make jokes off of my enthusiasm and become skeptic when they should not be and instead still being educated people, they believe on what people recommend on something that has no scientific proof or helps in a short term. It is sad that some people dont know how important it is.
That's the Gods truth i tell ya, my family was always joking about it when i tried to get them to eat healthy and give up red meat, sugars, etc... but now they look at me and my husband and of course they all have been sick, diagnosed with diabetes, cancers, etc... and now they are asking me for advice! For some people until they get ill thats when things change...and even then some will never, so all we can work on is ourselves and hope to provide the best example for our families we can!
@Ninearm You are very correct! I lost many friends and have been ridiculed even harder by family members for it (some family and friends however love the new me than the old me). Many people think its boring and lame without beer, cigerettes, and super tasty foods. I remember how boring my life was when I lived like that and because I live like Jack Lalanne now, i have more energy, therefore my life is NO LONGER boring! These fools to need to wake up!
@Mandilore I'm going through the same thing. Quit cigarettes, alcohol, and pot. The odd part is when you try to explain it to them, it almost feels like some people are incapable of understanding... weird eh?
@Division212 agree. Most people don't want change and abusing substances like alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs is seen as a symbolism of either manliness or adulthood. A lot of people also live in denial and the people like how i once was, used it as a means of hiding a lot of traumatic stress. As a female said in a video that if you abuse yourself, you're showing your pain and I couldn't agree more!
@Mandilore That's well put. Plus abusing your body shows a lack of respect for yourself as well. Which could obviously stem from some type of trauma. I only was able to quit these things when my position in life improved and lifeling problems have been fixed. I don't do tese things simply because it's bad for me and they're expensive. That's enough reason not to do it. Should I buy an orphan a meal or should I buy myself a pack of smokes? Once you see the truth, there's no turning back.
oh yeah, you got that right, and what about all the fast food restaurants on every corner? Try and count in one square mile how many burger kings, mcdonalds, and mcdonalds there are, and then try to find a healthy place to eat.... not easy, and thats our country's way... so sad...
It is easy.Go to subway or quiznos. Subway veggie delites for 2.89 6inch or 5 dollars for footlong and a cup of water.Forget the chips and soda. The sandwich with cheese and avocado has plenty of good calories and has about 15g protein. That is no more than once a week for me.I eat at home.I turned vegetarian at 19 after my life of sodaholic, jackintheboxholic and i haven't bought neither since. Now I weigh more but in muscle size because I do eat a lot and lift weights.Trust me, it is easy.
you would be surprised how so many people don't think thats easy and want to just to to their drive thru's, and home is the best place so you can know what you are eating... GOod for you turning vegitarian... We did it about two years ago and love the way we feel and look and the energy? Fabulous! I have had to relearn to cook again, but its so worth it, and we cleanse once every six months as well.
OMG, lol... well you have to be ready for a step like that, and its a lifestyle change that not alot of people are willing to do any work for and it is sad really cause once u do it, they will see how their lives are improved... it is sad...
These lazy fools get exactly what they deserve. I don't think it's sad at all, nature has a way of getting rid of weak links. But you are right, eating healthy food and exercising feels wonderful. Peace.
Jack Lalanne doesn't eat meat except fish...and you always hear him talk about eating vegetables and fruits and a healthy diet. This is how he is healthy, along with all the great exercise.
I would of love to meet this guy

Jack Lalanne is the one...this is a compelling piece right here. Wow
absgawd 3 years ago

My dad's the same way. Exactly the same way.
incrediblehulkmovies 3 years ago 6
Mine too!
Bloats at dinner, falls asleep in front of the Tv, wakes up at around 1-2 and goes to bed.
He's 55 but could pass for 65
narbalva 3 years ago 2
He really was one of the FIRST if not the first fitness Guru's out there, and look at the proof! He's still kicking it and almost ninety? Will probably go of natural causes too... We can all learn from this great man...

Lalane is a great american and a genius!

What an inspirational guy. We need to listen to him more often. When was this show aired anyway? early 1960's?

I love this gentleman, he's the pinnacle of health, we are in a dark time of medicine, stormed by pharmaceutical companies, we need 1 million jack lalannes
leumasnehpets 3 years ago 4
He's definitely the man. However, even one million Jack LaLannes wouldn't be enough to motivate all the fat-asses I see walking around.
I think eliminating buffet restaurants and convenience stores would help with the obesity problem. However, I suppose it would cause our economy to crash.
jeffw1267 3 years ago 2
Your right jeffw1267, the other problem is if you have a mentality like Jack nowadays, people and friends call you a crackpot, or crazy when your healthy. Its not only a disease on the body, but the mind has been shoot to crap by todays standards
Ninearm 3 years ago
This is true.My fam in Mexico who could be considered middle class think I am a health nut. They complain of getting fat, headaches, depression, anxiety, fatigue, even a slower thinking at age 40. They make jokes off of my enthusiasm and become skeptic when they should not be and instead still being educated people, they believe on what people recommend on something that has no scientific proof or helps in a short term. It is sad that some people dont know how important it is.
neolestat13 3 years ago
That's the Gods truth i tell ya, my family was always joking about it when i tried to get them to eat healthy and give up red meat, sugars, etc... but now they look at me and my husband and of course they all have been sick, diagnosed with diabetes, cancers, etc... and now they are asking me for advice! For some people until they get ill thats when things change...and even then some will never, so all we can work on is ourselves and hope to provide the best example for our families we can!
honeygood2 3 years ago 2
@Ninearm You are very correct! I lost many friends and have been ridiculed even harder by family members for it (some family and friends however love the new me than the old me). Many people think its boring and lame without beer, cigerettes, and super tasty foods. I remember how boring my life was when I lived like that and because I live like Jack Lalanne now, i have more energy, therefore my life is NO LONGER boring! These fools to need to wake up!
Mandilore 1 year ago
@Mandilore I'm going through the same thing. Quit cigarettes, alcohol, and pot. The odd part is when you try to explain it to them, it almost feels like some people are incapable of understanding... weird eh?
Division212 1 year ago
@Division212 agree. Most people don't want change and abusing substances like alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs is seen as a symbolism of either manliness or adulthood. A lot of people also live in denial and the people like how i once was, used it as a means of hiding a lot of traumatic stress. As a female said in a video that if you abuse yourself, you're showing your pain and I couldn't agree more!
Mandilore 1 year ago
@Mandilore That's well put. Plus abusing your body shows a lack of respect for yourself as well. Which could obviously stem from some type of trauma. I only was able to quit these things when my position in life improved and lifeling problems have been fixed. I don't do tese things simply because it's bad for me and they're expensive. That's enough reason not to do it. Should I buy an orphan a meal or should I buy myself a pack of smokes? Once you see the truth, there's no turning back.
Division212 1 year ago
oh yeah, you got that right, and what about all the fast food restaurants on every corner? Try and count in one square mile how many burger kings, mcdonalds, and mcdonalds there are, and then try to find a healthy place to eat.... not easy, and thats our country's way... so sad...
honeygood2 3 years ago 2
It is easy.Go to subway or quiznos. Subway veggie delites for 2.89 6inch or 5 dollars for footlong and a cup of water.Forget the chips and soda. The sandwich with cheese and avocado has plenty of good calories and has about 15g protein. That is no more than once a week for me.I eat at home.I turned vegetarian at 19 after my life of sodaholic, jackintheboxholic and i haven't bought neither since. Now I weigh more but in muscle size because I do eat a lot and lift weights.Trust me, it is easy.
neolestat13 3 years ago
you would be surprised how so many people don't think thats easy and want to just to to their drive thru's, and home is the best place so you can know what you are eating... GOod for you turning vegitarian... We did it about two years ago and love the way we feel and look and the energy? Fabulous! I have had to relearn to cook again, but its so worth it, and we cleanse once every six months as well.
honeygood2 3 years ago
How about they go to the supermarket, buy some fresh produce and cook their own fucking food. Fucking lazy, lard asses.
RenegadeMystic 3 years ago 2
OMG, lol... well you have to be ready for a step like that, and its a lifestyle change that not alot of people are willing to do any work for and it is sad really cause once u do it, they will see how their lives are improved... it is sad...
honeygood2 3 years ago
These lazy fools get exactly what they deserve. I don't think it's sad at all, nature has a way of getting rid of weak links. But you are right, eating healthy food and exercising feels wonderful. Peace.
RenegadeMystic 3 years ago 5
what about bringing your lunch to work or school?..its easier to prepare your lunch if then aren;t any healthy choices around.

Jack Lalanne doesn't eat meat except fish...and you always hear him talk about eating vegetables and fruits and a healthy diet. This is how he is healthy, along with all the great exercise.

On his mealplan video he says for dinner you can have 2 meats or fouls.
