  • They should do a series from a German or Russian perspective.... NOW THAT would be awesome :O

  • Basilone has a M-50 Reising

  • A country of 10 times of financial power is through egoism in an own country dealing with the country where they're training a soldier as a hero and are weak.

  • I really like this series, but to me it doesn't stay focused on the stories that are supposed to be portrayed. Way too many side stories and the characters are hard to keep track of. Other than that it's awesome!

  • A serie of the Vietnam war would interest me too

  • This series is awesome, it shows the perspective and covers the memoirs of WW2 1st Division of the Marines in America, its from AMERICA'S perspective not Japs, and they're ( Japs) are just told what to do and besides, the Japs attacked Pearl Harbour it was already thought that the Americans would end the war anyway.

  • Victoriadavidson747

My Dad, served in the Pacific campaign,,,on Guam..corrigador ,guaducanal, saipan and iwo jima..It is my hope that the bond that these men, who fought in the jungles and beach heads , on islands most people had never heard of..will be reflected as they were in band of brothers..

  • When Speilberg says its "honest" he never accurately portrays the true picture. Is this sense the Pacific theatre. The British Aussies Kiwis were all fighting the Japs for over 3 years before the Americans even showed up and there is never a mention. We only ever get little jibes and moans from the Americans. I particular favourite is when Tom Hanks is in Saving P Ryan and he is complaining about Montgomery being slow and indesisive, in BOB the British are portrayed as incompetant. WTF1

  • That is a total lie. The US was in the Pacific War from the start, and fought better and held out a lot longer in Luzon than the Brits did in Singapore and Hong Kong

  • @tomsmith100 The Asian War campaign was turned when the Americans fought and beat the Japanese Imperial Navy at battle of Midway, then Tarawa ,then the battle at Coral Sea,then Guadalcanal..so on so forth. These battles were fought by American warships,carriers,planes,Marines,..we knew you(Kiwis,Aussies) were fighting the Japs already but we finished it for you!Pacific is based on American Marines memoirs,so is it solely shown from their point of view. OKAY!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Djee4Prez i agree America has the most creit ww2.. why not the soviets at Kursk or Stalingrad,Battle of Berlin..ot the British Army and the Commonwealth at Burma,El Alamein or Battle of Britain

  • cause we help yall when you needed it. They all did alot to...ALOT...but America helped yall...alot

  • @coolmatt1125 Or Northern Ireland, Korea, Suez, Falklands, 1st Gulf war, 2nd Gulf War, Afgan.... Diffrent wars, same boys doing the old men's bidding!!!

  • it seems that some people think that WW2 was about the USA vs Japan and Germany. Seriously America...thx you for your help but please don't take all the credit for the victory

  • @Djee4Prez

    Dear whoever

May I remind you, taht had America NOT become involved Europe and Austra;ia would be speaking mostly German

    AND THAT IS A FACT

  • The US, especially our Navy carried most of the War in the Pacific, cept in New Guinea & Burma. The US fleet was 20x the size of UK fleet in the Pacific

  • @Djee4Prez

    We don't >:(

  • @Djee4Prez Who do you think supplied the Allied forces with soldiers, tanks,planes,ships,ammunition,...etc. The Americans after we joined the war after Pearl Harbor. Gen. Yamamoto said after Pearl," I think we have just awaken a giant.,"because he knew about the American capability of production. He was stationed in America like so many Japanese officers. so give credit where credit is due.The Allieds were floundering with out the US help.

  • メリケンは映像にすることで虐殺を美化し正当化する野蛮な連中だな。

    自己中心的で自分たちを正義だと信じ込む、だからイラクやアフガンで同じ事を繰り返す。キチガイ染みた愚かな奴らだ。

    Fuck USA

  • all these events were based from books that they main guys wrote

  • like watching this is reading a book and picturing it in your mind

  • Hanks...youre no Jimmy Stewart. and because you cant keep your leftist mouth shut...your series is hitting 1/3rd of what it should be doing. Hollywood cant hide a true leftist rant from the internet . Things are different now. we dont buy the stuff you put out if you spout off about our military and our nation being terrorists. We'll fid out what you really are...and you'll pay for it....in a lack of sales. Shut up next time Tom.

  • buena pelicula ,,lo vere ,,debe estar muy bueno igual de band of broders

  • for anyone who's a fan of 24 - pause at 42 secs. isn't that the terrorist dude who blew himself up in that oxygen tank in season 8?

  • I wish that spielberg will create a movie here in the Philippines. about the philippine guerrillas and the defend of bataan and corregidor. I read a book "WITH THE BRAVEST" the story of the guerrillas in mindanao in southern philippines where japanese life line is to reach malaysia and american lines. because they know that the filipino guerillas wont spare their lives. haha

  • The Philippines was one of if not the most important campaigns in the pacific. It saddens me that it does not get much attention.

  • they should make a movie about the regular troops in europe after this insted of the paratroopers

  • NO!

  • I really hope the Japanese aren't depicted as mindless brutes.

  • I really hope its not the weak- kneed revisionism of the two Eastwood films. The japs were the bad guys -as bad as Hitler -Hirihito should have hung -we hunted down the Nazis -but not these guys -in the end on Peleliu and Iwo they hid in caves, got drunk and picked off our people -our brave heroes -the bravest of the brave -lets hope this is about them -to hell with the japs-

  • Nazis were hunted down while japs were not? What about Nagasaki and Hiroshima?Civilians were killed by the hundreds of thousands.Usa is not so far from the "bad" Nazis and Japs.

  • the bombing of those two cities as bad as the civilian loss was, saved the lives of hundreds of Marines that would have died on a land assault. therefore I believe they were completely justified, anyways the war needed to end.

  • @royraiden We are though. We never commited the amount of atrocities that the Japs and nazis did.

  • correction: in terms of casualties cased, the firebombings which occured in Dresden and other locations had COMPARABLE casualty levels. by comparable im talking large scaled. the difference is an approxiamtion of 20,000 killed. The real difference between the two was not necessarily how many lives were lost , it was the fact that a nuclear bomb could do what firebombing did in a single bomb.

  • also consider why the bombs were dropped. also consider that the Japanese had Unit 431 ( i believe that is the name). the chinese were being captured, tortured and experimented on. they would refer to the experiment victims as "logs". please try doing a LITTLE research before weighing in on a historical event. also the japanese did face war crimes trials. they were hunted and turned in.

  • A-bombs saved casualties. What would've been the US peoples' reaction had over 500k died and we didn't use the bombs? Hirohito cared more about his divinity and rule than he did about his citizens. 2 bombs aside, it took the threat of Soviet invasion after Manchuria was crushed to sway them. The Japanese were absolutely ruthless!

And just what has Japan, Germany done to help fellow man.. which trumps USA of course?

    Read a book, preferably History!

  • @royraiden Who did the US learn their mass fire bombing of cites from, hmm, try RAF Bomber Command

  • seeing as it's from allied perspective, i don't think we'll get much japanese backstory or specific character insight

  • @wrath231 The Japanese were mindless brutes. Ever heard how they slaughtered 250,000 Chinese because American planes landed in China?

  • @wrath231 Mindless...hardly...ever watch a movie called the great raid...based n FACT ever heard of the death March??

  • @wrath231 they were mindless brutes...

  • @begin11

But Allies also were regarded as mindless brutes by Japanese or German...

I dont think their behaviors are as excellent as you expect.

BY OTHER FAULTS WISE MEN CORRECT THEIR OWN.

  • @wrath231 im sorry to tell you but they were mindless brutes. They make the average nazi look like a care bear

  • @wrath231 One scene definitely shows that they aren't but ive never seen more than one whole episode. i'm gonna buy it later.

  • @cew1965 Watch and observe.

  • What about an OTHER WWII VERSION? Like the Eastern Front? 30 millions died there. Nuff said

  • @bananforhud they dont speak english lol.

  • Oh, well didn't you know that America won WWII single-handed? I mean who cares about the Russians, they used to be communists so they don't even count as people. Never mind that the eastern front decided what happened to Europe, if America wasn't there it never happened.

  • Patton had it right. Patton could've beaten the Russians to Berlin but Bradley pulled him off. Patton was right we should've kept marching into Russia.

  • @hschan4 Stupidest, most ill-educated comment I've ever read! If the British didn't hold their own for the first 4 years that the Americans were not involved then there would have been no D-day or Airborne drops. There would have been no allied territory close enough to fight from.

If it wasn't for the British holding Britain, Africa and several other locations in and around Europe, the Germans would have had too much land, resources and men than the US could ever muster.

  • @hschan4 This not to mention how well the Russians faught by holding the majority of the northen hemisphere.

I'm not going to generalise all Americans to be as stupid as you but the your educational system sure failed you or you failed it.

  • @hschan4 it sure took the Yanks a long time to get involved, hence Pearl Harbour. Australians, British and New Zealanders were fighting the Japanese well before America got involved. Although we are thankful they did get involved, it was only when they were attacked did they call to arms.

  • Well get Russians or Germans to make movies on that shit. Americans are making movies about American wars and experience. Gets old seeing foreigners complaining how we AMERICANS should make movies about everybodie's experience. Make your own damn movies.

  • there are movies about the eastern european front

  • the Western world doesnt care to watch a 10 series movie about facists killing commies...

  • The Thin Red Line Was an awesome Movie and alot better than SPR.

  • agreed, SPR was good but way too full of hollywoof sappyness. Thin Red Line was like a poem, never seen war depicted like it was in that movie.

  • I hope this isn't too much like Thin Red Line and more like Band of Brothers.

  • trust me its not going to be like this is just part 2 out of ten parts once this mini series comes out and when part 3 comes out it will be nothing like Thin Red Line ive already seen clips of almost every part it it was badass. but Thin Red Line was a good movie too

  • BoB was awesome, can't wait for this to air.

  • hey do you guys know when this comes out on dvd B/C i do not have hbo . If anyone could answer my question that would be great

  • it will probably be out a few months after it is released on tv on march 14th, so not so far away :D

  • Some fairly silly comments here- but I am, indeed, profoundly excited about this series. I can't tell if the spelling and grammar are indicative of the intellect of the authors of these posts but, based on their content, I'm guessing it is.

  • OMG this is Awsome!

  • They should make a movie/series like this on the eastern front and one from a German squads perspective. You'll soon realize the average German soldier wasn't a natzi even if the cause he was fighting for can never be justified or empathized with.

On the battlefield they fought like anyone else.

  • The ostheer was guilty of crime against humanity. They kill many soviet partisan and jew with the einzengruppen. The average german soldier are guilty too...

The only german who aren't guilty was the resistant.

    Damned I hate revisionism....

  • Tis true, Hitler's Army by Omer Bartov outlines it all.

  • good idea... anyways ive watched only like 2 secs of this thing an im already pysched

  • @zauii89 Hey thats actually a great idea, There are some movies like that , One is just called stalingrad, but that would be a great show to see

  • @zauii89 When they aren't being over-run by the Red Army, they'll show them killing POWs, burning down villages, hunting Jews, looting, raping. Loads of fun!.

  • @zauii89 I am sorry but Germany did invade rest of europe, Poland,Holland,Norway,Belgium, France,Lichstenstein,Russia,Greece, and North Africa. I don't feel sorry for any Axis power country at all. Considering also the different concentration, labor and POW camps and the ethnic cleansing that went on. Pretty hard to fell sorry for any German soldier considering these hard facts.

  • @zauii89 what about the nazis in concentration camps?

  • @Krumpli94 he wrote about the soldiers in the field. the ss divisions who were in the concentration camps were poor fools, that believed in the bullshit hitler told them.

  • @zauii89 already did in band of brothers!

  • @zauii89 nope they started the war and were fighting for a govt that wanted to dicate how we who had nothing to do with their life.

  • @zauii89 Nobody wants to see the "bad guys'" perspective, it would be a total failure!

  • @zauii89 Kind of like Clint Eastwood's Letters from Iwo Jima ? that was really interesting. I found it better than Flag Of Our Fathers.

  • The Pacific was a rough war

  • I've been watching Band of Brothers in anticipation of this. Nothing else can help the time go by!

  • my dad says all war movies are exagerated since my grandpa was in the marine corps as a grunt back in wwII he was part of the first U.S. amphibious landing of the Pacific War he was in 1st Marine Division when they invaded an island called the Guadalcanal. which was some where in 1942. although he got wounded by japanesse fighter bombers 2 months later when they attcked a airfield were he was satationed at.

  • Everyone has a different story at war, in ww2 several million soldiers on all sides experience different stuff in different battles.

  • this is going to be sick

  • looks absaloutly amazeing

  • It's going to be EPIC like Band of Brothers.

  • looks good can you get this on sky anyone?

  • @carbonfootprintmyass Sky Box Office are showing it instead of BBC like BoB

  • The Pacific had more deaths than Euorpe. The Japanese never believes in Surrendering. They fought to the last man on the Island. If it was the Japanese and the Nazis fighting. The Japanese probably would have won.

  • If they were fighting each other? Are you kidding me? Whilst its true Japan fought after very different standard which made em a gruesome enemy, the germans were overall very well trained, had the best equipment and technology during ww2 and were huge.

A war between them and natzi germany would've won, the only reason germany lost was due to getting supplies cut off, some major mistakes like attacking Russia.

If Russia wouldn't have been in war with Germany, D-day wouldn't have been possible..

  • @zauii89 'had the best equipment and technology during ww2 ' - compared to the japanese, yes. Compared to the west, not always.

  • @zauii89 if germany would not have attacked russia at that point in history, they would have won the war. if you think about it.... hitler killed 7 million jews, when stalin and lenin killed ~ 30 million people from the soviet union, not necesarily jews... and stalin and lenin are seen today as great people, when hitler is seen as a murderer...

  • .... remembering late uncle Emilio sln in the Bataan Death March WWII

  • one word "AMAZING"

  • man tom hanks and steven spielberg make a great fucking team its amazing the stuff they come out with

  • its going to be on sky movies i hav sky hd but not movies section:(

  • People forget that Japanese and Italians were as bad as Nazis.

  • good point..

  • lol italians never systematically murdered innocents of being a wrong race. Japanese killed chinese people, but no one not anybody during ww2 was as bad as the nazis

  • @BonScottAC Actually in terms of 'badness' it goes Japs - Germans - Italians. Unit 731, for example.

  • This show is gonna be beast

  • damnit cant wait for this i have the whole dvd collection of band of brothers i need this so badly

  • This is sure the TV SHOW I want to see right now!

  • can't wait for this shit

  • Though how close I am inclined to believe your conspiracist theories i would still guess you believe more in yetis.

  • @boots920 How far exactly were they shoved up your arse?

  • can't wait to watch it, should be good!

  • can't wait for this series, been waiting for it ever since they announced it a few years back.

  • they should never stop making this kind of movies, if war movies die....idk what im going to watch!

  • ogm same here thats all i watch is war movies
