The melody of this song sounds very similar to the melody of the traditional Irish song "The RAGGLE TAGGLE gypsy" Check out the similarities by going to the song and forward to 2:00 min.
@nutcasefella It IS Raggle Taggle Gypsy! When they play with the fiddle player she plays the tune on the fiddle during the instrumental break straight on. The first time I heard it I got a little thrill out of it! I hope they do a little more adventuring into Celtic music. Being a Celtic musician for most of my life...I think it would bring a lot more attention to the genre and return some life into the scene...and we could use it!
Ditto for me too, from the first listen, Rox has been my fav, then I'll grow into the others. Down by the Water is starting to break away from the pack. This is a very good recording. Thank you baldemanco!
@DrRokso111 yeah i know like a 5 or something... wtf? are you kidding. that was a horribly written review anyway. it's not like it sways my opinion on the album anyway.
that's a keeper

Every Decemberists album has one song that instantly becomes my favorite. This is the ONE from The King is Dead.

Where did you find this? The audio is really good for being a bootleg of a live performance.

I agree with you, I thought Hazards of Love was absolute genius, but I really missed the songs like this one.
