That problem is present in any DLP Projector!! But the only think that shows those rainbow colors it depends of the human eye......if you´re lucky, you would be part of the 80% of the population that dont see the rainbow effect, ...! My eyes can see the rainbow effect..!!!! CRAP.!!! That´s why i have an Epson S4 LCD Projector, Screen Door Effect is not that bad if you are not close to the screen..(mine is 110")

No way...the price is actually cheaper (dependant on the model of projector) than buying a flat panel plasma or DLP TV. I play Left 4 Dead on my projector. LOVE IT! Really anyone dedicated enough to buy a good TV can have a projector just as well if not easier. You can get a cheap model for $500 even. I got mine for $1,200. It all depends on the lumens.

@No3225: Bulbs are expensive for projectors, so it's always a good idea to look on-line for sales and deals before your bulb dies. I have used my bulbs daily for regular TV viewing as well as gaming and don't have to replace them for a year and a half as a norm. You should not have any lag issues unless your computer/graphics card/server does. Your eyes should not have any trouble adjusting to a projector HOWEVER some people do experience "rainbowing" if they look away from the screen quickly.

@No3225: The Rainbowing effect isn't a major issue and is something that if you do experience, is not all the time nor detrimental to your gameplay or movie watching. Hard core refresh rate games such as L4D does run the projector hotter than a movie, so be sure to always have your projector well ventilated or it will overheat and turn itself off. I ceiling-mounted mine and have never had it shut down since and I've also run Borderlands, Dawn of War, and Call of Duty with no problems.

iv got a samsung 1080p lcd tv and a optoma hd800x 1080p projector which i play my xbox elite on. the lcd looks a tiny but better but if your in a dark room the projector looks amazing. and it awsum playing on a massive screen.

With a projection of that size, you'll need a higher resoultion for a sharper image, 2085+1280 or so.

I just installed my 720p projector, running at 71" diagonal, and it's outstanding on xbox 360 games. It was $800, about 1/3 of a really nice LCD. It was a hard decision, but I think I got a lot of bang for my buck with it... and the screen is HUGE, especially since I only sit 8' away from it.

Your projector looks like it has horrible vertical banding. LCDs tend to do that after a while. Mine isn't near that bad though. Then again it may just be some video artifact and not what you're actually seeing sitting there.

A lot of games now run at 60 fps (Madden 2008 for instance on 360), the fact is they are slower-NO way around it.

It's a cool idea, BUT tons of drawbacks- Space, not as clear a picture, don't last that long, has lines, etc. It's coolest outside by a pool-hot tub, set up mine with movies (no sound) at parties. It also moves VERY SLOW Frame rate for you gamers.

How the hell is it equivalent to 1080i? 1080i is the highest resolution there is... Only difference between 1080i and 1080p is 1080i is interlaced, meaning it scans one half of the screen at a time. Where do you get your information? lol

DLP doesn't have the "Rainbow" effect anymore. They took care of that more than a year ago. DLP is cheaper than any other HD technology, but actually MUCH higher quality, and longer life.
