The Bible does not teach eternal punishment. God’s love & mercy endures forever. Does it really endure forever or only in this life? How can it be Good News if it doesn’t translate to the afterlife? God will still judge but He will not punish forever. He’s a better father than we are, right?

@molimhvalaizvoli thanks for the comment... The words "for ever" do not necessarily mean "without end." The Bible uses the term almost 60 times in connection with things which have already ended. In Ex. 21:1-6 the Hebrew servant was to serve his master "for ever" but it was obviously only until his death.
Hannah took her son Samuel to Jehovah's house to abide "for ever" (1Sam. 1:22), but she plainly limited that time to "as long as he liveth" (v. 28).

Matt 25:41 "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire"
Matt 25:46 "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life"

God does not do this to people. God didn't make hell. Hell was made by the devil. God doesn't want people to go there, but people chose to go there by all the mistakes they've done in life. @HeavenBound2323 God is surely going to entirely destroy the wicked in the lake of fire, this is the 2nd death (Rev 20). Satan did not make Eve sin, she chose to sin. The reason why God did not destroy Satan as soon as he rebelled was because there would have been too many questions left unanswered, it would also have lead to all creation serving God because of a fear of instant destruction rather than love.

The earliest Old Testament was written about 2600 years ago. The first mention of Hell was in the Book of Mark written about 100 years after Jesus' time. Where is the earliest mention of Eternal Hell? In Babylonian Texts brought into the Jewish belief system around 500 BC which is 2500 years ago, but it wasn't commonly believed until about 200 AD. Another note- The fire has always been eternal, but hell has never been eternal. AD 131 is a very liberal time frame for the book of Mark. If it was written that late, don't you think they would of made mention of Titus and AD 70? You are also giving a date for the Dead Sea Scrolls, 2600 years, which is a copy. The Old Testament is much older.

If God says if you steal you'll get your fingers cut off, and go ahead, and steall, and get your fingers cut off who was being foolish, and got exactly what they disserved?

If it was some secret, THEN is wouldn't be fair, but if you're foolish enough to commit sin, and not be repentent of it, and hate it, for the evil it is, than you disserve to burn. Rev 19:20 "These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone"
Rev 20:15 "Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire"
That scripture in Jude is a real stretch! You better hope you're right because Matthew is very explicit and details events AFTER physical death:

@molimhvalaizvoli thanks for the comment... The words "for ever" do not necessarily mean "without end." The Bible uses the term almost 60 times in connection with things which have already ended. In Ex. 21:1-6 the Hebrew servant was to serve his master "for ever" but it was obviously only until his death.
Hannah took her son Samuel to Jehovah's house to abide "for ever" (1Sam. 1:22), but she plainly limited that time to "as long as he liveth" (v. 28).

The desolation of Edom was to continue "for ever and ever" (Isaiah 34:10).
According to these definitions of the term "for ever and ever" those who are cast into the "lake of fire" will suffer as long as they continue to live in the fire. Then, as the Bible states, "the wicked... shall be destroyed for ever" (Psalm 92:7, also Malachi 4:1-3)

@lazbo4174 That scripture is unclear whether it is talking about a physical or spiritual death. Either way, it's Old Testament - Israelites did not believe in eternal torment. Hell was not part of christianity until the New Testament. Which means these scriptures still cannot be ignored:

Matt 25:46 "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life"

God does not do this to people. God didn't make hell. Hell was made by the devil. God doesn't want people to go there, but people chose to go there by all the mistakes they've done in life. God doesn't send you down to hell, god just doesn't want you to go up to heaven with him. So you have no option but to go down to hell and burn in a never endless pit of fire and get your skin teared off by terrible looking demons in a dark hole, with only fire as light. God will destroy the wicked's physical bodies and cast them into hell, and then at judgement day, the wicked will be thrown into the lake of fire "where they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

@HeavenBound2323 God is surely going to entirely destroy the wicked in the lake of fire, this is the 2nd death (Rev 20). Satan did not make Eve sin, she chose to sin. The reason why God did not destroy Satan as soon as he rebelled was because there would have been too many questions left unanswered, it would also have lead to all creation serving God because of a fear of instant destruction rather than love.

why would a loving God send someone to hell? He is holy and we are sinful. But listen everyone, God in His divine grace has provided the way for all men/women, to be saved through Jesus Christ. But If man/woman will not have Christ as their only Savior then God will not have them, and he/she will die in his/her sins, because they rejected Christ and His salvation. But blessed are those who do accept it.

The earliest Old Testament was written about 2600 years ago. The first mention of Hell was in the Book of Mark written about 100 years after Jesus' time. Where is the earliest mention of Eternal Hell? In Babylonian Texts brought into the Jewish belief system around 500 BC which is 2500 years ago, but it wasn't commonly believed until about 200 AD. Its all made up.

@Davidweiser Hell is used 31 times in the Old Testament. Are you saying that the New Testament is older than the Old Testament? Another note- The fire has always been eternal, but hell has never been eternal. AD 131 is a very liberal time frame for the book of Mark. If it was written that late, don't you think they would of made mention of Titus and AD 70? You are also giving a date for the Dead Sea Scrolls, 2600 years, which is a copy. The Old Testament is much older.

Yes eternal punishment is fair. Why!? because you were told, the punishment would be eternal, so if you commit the crime, and don't ask for forgiveness, or don't mean it when you ask, and you get the punishment, you disserve it. Of course its fair. Think about it. If God says if you steal you'll get your fingers cut off, and go ahead, and steall, and get your fingers cut off who was being foolish, and got exactly what they disserved?
