  • Wow WOW Wow So powerful. Wish I was there

  • I am still more surprised that there wasnt a part 2 of the story, telling how mankind using the invader's tech, would say: "and now it's our turn!!!" Would be great to hear the orchestra as massive human space ships would fly over.

  • i love the video but can u make a nuver song with only singing.e.g chanses from mars are a million to one he said but still they cum THANKS

  • toto som zhanal niekolko rokov.to je obrovska nahoda ze som to nasiel. ani som nevedel ako sa to vola. skratka nahoda.ale inac je to nadhera.

  • Absolutely excellent!!!

  • I remember this coming out when I was just 11 years of age. That's Richard Burton's voice isn't it? This is superb. I'd forgotten all about it. Brings back a great time I had when I was 12.

  • СУПЕР!!!!!!

  • Ahh... the memories when I was just a small kid and played the game which had all of these master pieces

  • Would like to see the full concert.

  • this is brilliant a think thi should make a film of it with this as sound track

  • Kegyetlen jó!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • seen this show in newcastle in 2010 going to see it again nxt year

  • My Dad bought this album when it first came out and I remember the incredible artwork of the cover and the album sized folio of prints that he got with the double album, that was even before I'd heard the music! Needless to say that I've loved the music ever since as well...and that stupid film with Tom Cruise, aka Poison Dwarf Nutter, should be sued for breach of copyright as it bears no relation to either H.G.Wells OR Jeff Wayne!

  • Awesome

  • 56 dislikes??????????? fucking martians are everywhere!!!!!!! "ulla" to the lot of em lol

  • I live in Horsell 50 metrea from the common...

  • It would be so BEAST if it were a film! Screw that Tom Cruise fellow.

  • @YoungWolfMaster There is a great movie from somewhere 1956, search for it, That movie is good.

  • @songooten Your right my friend.I remember the movie. At the time,it was a real good one.Though the special effects aren't what they are today, for the time,it was great.

  • @songooten yes 1953 The War of the Worlds Great film

  • @songooten 1953 to be exact.

  • @songooten Better than Tom Cruise

  • @songooten Come to think of it, I believe I saw that one, both in black&white and color. Was the colored version trully "colored in" from the black&white version?

  • @YoungWolfMaster I have it on VHS, need to locate it on dvd

  • @PatriotTexas Alrighty, gud luck

  • @YoungWolfMaster Check out the 1956 George Pal version. Very different in a lot of respects, but an awesome film.

  • @jjobie yup, seen it, wish I took part in the movie, a young recruit or something, ready to kick some Martian gorflex butt.

  • I visited UK in October and bought the DVD for the princely sum of £7! I've watched it over and over again and it blows me away every time! I've now owned the LP, CD and DVD; a musical masterpiece!

  • I was there live at the last show in oberhausen/germany...

AWESOME!!! You cannot imagine how frigging awesome the sound is when you are there and the atmosphere and such...

and it totally satisfied my women with string-instruments-fetisch too.. :D ;)

  • God My mother had the LP of this back in 1978 i was 7 years old it terrified the fuck out of me I was convinced they would be coming again

  • who are the arseholes who dislike this video

  • ANYONE READING THIS IF YOU GET THE CHANCE FUCKING GO TO THE SHOW IT IS AMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FRenomenalno,bre!

  • I've got a shirt just like his. Just saying...

  • Luv this music like the film "clasic" :~)

  • i like it when he sticks his knee out

  • 55 dislikes? Muppets....

  • this is like the best clip on yt

  • all I can say is WOW!

  • I should've been there,

  • If people don't respect the work that went into this, the blend of the classical and contemporary instruments, the portrayal of the story through music rather than sound effects, well their opinion isn't worth a damn. Just because your computer can make something similar for you doesn't make you an artist. Wish I'd have seen this live :D

  • An incredible video. I wish I could get a DVD set that would work here in the US. Anyone have links to all the parts?

  • Seen this at the N.IA Birmingham last year Awesome show.

  • Don't tell me, they didn't use a computer to generate all these magnificent sounds!

    ;)

  • @MDunka There are many synth keyboards on stage.

  • @omaraty008 On the stage, true. But back in 1978, I really have a doubt... :) Do you know the story of this masterpiece? 1975-'78 tells you something? These guys recorded miles of multitrack tape only to create a mix they didn't like, cut in pieces and start all over again.... No digital conversion, no resampling, no digital signal processing... And again NO COMPUTERS. Sometimes we forget how easy it is today to make a "waka-waka" in a few days at most... Jeff spent three years to create this.

  • @MDunka and Guitar and bass effects pedals.

    All computers.

  • @MDunka no computers were used - it was all created in 1979 and synthersisers were used and some electronic sounds but 90% is real instruments

  • @braxious That's exactly what I said. As opposed to current "an album-a-day musicians", Jeff et Co. did everything by themselves. no samples, no beats, no digital sound processors. And it took them three years to reach this kind of perfection. Wonderful work.

    I incline.

  • Had a friend pick up this DVD set for me whilst he was visiting London. I can't play it until I get a region free DVD player but very soon. Brilliant piece of work this.

  • those tymes a beautyfull clip like sience fiction was in the beginning angelique likes this from my youth party,s

  • dit zocht ik kon niet opkomen mooi is dit je webside ben je druk je moet liever niet steeds veranderen ik wou veel doen ik zit nu aan pause toe the changing i can,t handdle now ok angel xxx

  • did i see justin hayward singing a bit ??? excellent.

  • @themanfromwem I know he does the Forever Autumn song for the record.

  • АХУЕННАЯ ТЕМА!!! за что я люблю англичан, это за Pink Floyd и Jeff Wayne.

  • i just love watching professionals

  • GREAT!!!! AWSOME!!!!

  • Love how the orchestra have got a sort of 19th Century steampunk vibe going on, but Jeff has just rocked up in his "i'm going out for a Taco," shirt on. You should have made an effort Jeff lol. I'll let you off for the music though :-)

  • die humans : uuuullaaaaa: my tripod will destroy you!

  • It was mindblowing watching it live. The music coursing through your body, totally immersed in it.And the sounds of the rolling explosions.....you could see the fittings in the theater vibrates as it traveled away from the stage...great atmosphere, and a huge mix of age too in the audience.

  • I wonder what Beethoven would think about this music

  • "Minds immeasurably superior to ours" but we'd still fuck 'em up.

  • The best version of War of the Worlds ever, and so far superior to the vomit-inducing tripe put forward by Tom "Wacko-Scientology-Creep" Cruise. It forces you to think about the words and somehow makes it all the more creepy. I'm so glad to see the DVD exists, I never knew it did! Hell yeah, off to buy...

  • @MrDexamphetamine i think this version is awesome. but the book is the best

  • this unsettles me, the whole series creeps me out. the original, the musical and the movie. dont like any of them however i still watch them

  • Saw this show in Auckland, New Zealand a few years back. Fantastic

  • Justin Hayward makes it seem singing is a walk in the park. Impossible!

  • masterpiece

  • just shut up and listen to this great music!

  • @renske1642 That's what I tell to whiny fan girls/boys being whatever numbered viewer they are when a new Machinima video is uploaded.

  • @renske1642 I havent said a word trust me, ok bro

  • It would be nice if they would make a movie that was actually BASED on The War of the Worlds or at least have it set in 1898!

  • @Keichwoud357 The Classic War of the Worlds (2005) NR - Directed by Timothy Hines, this direct-to-video thriller faithfully follows the classic H.G. Wells sci-fi novel about a 19th-century British writer (Anthony Piana) who witnesses a shocking Martian attack, with the English countryside as ground zero. As the military tries to intervene, the apocalyptic chaos separates the author from his beloved wife.

  • @Keichwoud357 Yes I certainly agree when Tom Cruise brought out the last WOTW i thought it was going to be based in 1800's and even possibly have the soundtrack of this alongside. Now that would be a movie. I have seen this show twice and I am a big fan.....Love it.

  • Epic success.

  • I love how Justin Hayward just walks on stage all like "Yeah that's right, I'm Justin Hayward Bitch!"

  • @jdrodi "What are you, dense? Are you retarded? I'm the goddam Justin Hayward!"

  • who else came here because of pendulum??!!!

  • @TheTBSPRODUCTIONSX What is pendulum? I came here because of Jeff Wayne's concert, I love War Of The Worlds :P

  • @TheTBSPRODUCTIONSX a what now lol nah m8 most came here because we enjoy the jeff waynes album/concert and above all it scared loads of people when aired on the radio one year lol

  • magnifiek

  • If you buy a region-free DVD player, which are real real cheap now, you can get the concert DVD from various sellers on Amazon in Region 2 format. It's totally worth the money. hell, the giant disembodied head of Richard Burton is worth the money.

  • Very Good!

  • Wow! What a production! I would've loved to mix that show! I remember as a kid, taking the LPs out of their jackets and listening to this album. I also remember letting my imagination get the best of me and scaring the crap outta me but I couldn't get enough of the music. I'm going to have to find this on bluray or dvd now, and I think I'm in love with the percussionist.

  • @effnikk the female percussionist is Julia Thornton - and get in line, I saw her first LOL!

  • @effnikk the female percussionist is Julia Thornton - and get in line, I saw her first LOL!

  • Pendulum's version is better.. **wait for the abuse**

  • thumbs up if u think this will be an all time classic

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC

  • The entire composition is pure genius. It is awe inspiring ... every note is magic and speaks to the story. Stand back in amazement.

  • @totaleclipseofthemoo how true-and so much better watching it live at Wembley right next to the speakers and drums

  • @dickturnipmarlboro I'm surprised you didn't explode! What an experience.

  • @totaleclipseofthemoo must admit I did have a bit of a headache at the end but was worth it. The view was amazing too and to top it off managed to get a few minutes chat with Gordy Marshall the drummer and a big thumbs up when he walked on.....Best Christmas ever-despite the bad snow..

  • @dickturnipmarlboro I'd guess you've relived that evening many times - and justifiably. I'm surprised you even noticed the snow!

  • @totaleclipseofthemoo what snow?? ;-) yes relive it often.

  • whats the exactly this DVD's name?

  • i agree with braxious. saw this at the MEN Arena in 2009. Absolutely amazing

  • I absolutely love this song! But this is the first time I have heard it in ten years. So here's to do a lot of catching up with it :)

  • what guitar is that @ 2:29 is it a les paul custom cos of the 24 frets?!?!?!?!?!/

  • i have seen this show live and OMG its is out of this world

  • just stunning

  • My dad was the first to introduce it to me back almost 18 years i think and its still my favorite album got the old New Files album 1995 the 7 disc collectors album the 30th anniversary recording the UlladudUlla albums :P and the 30th anniversary alive on stage :P epic

  • I bought this album on vinyl in the year it was released, and have now got it on CD; it's timeless, flawless, incomparable, and still chilling to listen to!

  • @clametis I've been a fan since the late 70's.....it's an absolutely awesome piece of musical work!

  • incredible, all of it came from jeffs head and its amazing

  • i love this musical idea for war of the worlds

  • just beautiful

  • Amazing!

  • I'm so glad i found a good download for the complete dvd... just love it... how people can make these things is really old-school and nice... now everybody just turns on his computer runs a program and makes the same... just gimme 100 people with classic instruments it's so pretty

  • mi-am adus aminte de o melodie....din copilaria mea:))))....si cat de greu am gasit-o....nu stiam nimic despre ea....:))))))

  • imi place ffff mult melodia :))

  • @claudiacirdu : sa vezi concertul. Eu unul pot spune ca daca l-as vedea live as putea sa mor fericit ziua urmatoare :)

  • This is truly epic, but I hate to say, but I like the remix slightly better : |

  • Wow

  • 51 people have the cold......

  • You MUST see this live! One of the best experiences I've ever had!

  • @24Pianist AARRRRGGH!! You got to see it LIVE!? O man, I am so envious of you. I bet you must have been sitting on the edge of your seat from the moment Richard Burton's voice boomed the beginning of the story until Jeff's brother portraying the NASA Control Pasadena mission manager said the words "...Can anybody hear me?! Come in! Come in!..." Where did you see this awesome event!?

  • @musicman88keys It really was one of the best things I've ever done. The tour goes all around Europe, making the most stops in Britain, where I saw it.

  • thumbs up if pendulum bring you here

  • duuuuuuuuuuuuude, I thought Jedward were tight 'til I heard this mob......

  • string orchestra's rule........

  • Pendulum's remix of this is out of this world, however the original will always be on a completely different level.

  • i can listen and listen to this over and over again its quality

  • This is brilliant! Great reminiscing! At 10 years old the commentary at the beggining and the OOOOLAAA later used to scare the hell out of me :)

  • 51 people are aliens that are coming from mars

  • @SuperPatrickramon There is a big gap between one thing and another, in the gap, sits comfortably, other opinions on music or things to do to pass the time. . It is verging on illegal discrimination for you to lable folk with an opinion opposed in some way to your own, as Martian or any other label. . Just watch your back. Imagine watching your back from a position other than your regular view-point. . . Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • @SuperPatrickramon 52 you mean

  • @SuperPatrickramon

    Well played, Sir. :)

  • We have 51 idiots!!

  • I used to live near Horsell Common, Woking where in the book the first cylinders landed (eve of the war). In Woking town center there is a martian cylinder and a replica of the martian tripod. Amazing story and amazing music. Thank you H.G. Wells :)

  • @LUNDUNA1 I bought a car on the internet and had to pass Horsell Common to collect it. I had no idea it was an actual place until then. I was like a kid at Christmas. Then I recognised more local signs from the album and the book.

  • Since it came out in the 70's, I've owned this album on vinyl, cassette, and cd (Never had an 8-track or I probably would have got that too). Even ordered the dvd from anazon.uk a few years ago even though I live in the US. Definately worth picking up if you can.

  • is the movie real?

  • @Ariafarmchips well noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo (sarcasm) yes it is real

  • Justin Hayward "made" me buy this vinyl LP years ago -- but the music is just amazing!

  • This music is epic. The whole LP is the whole story. Beautiful!

  • frickin epic! nuff said

  • 50 people got eaten by the face

  • 50 people are Martians...

  • True GENIUS!

  • I'm not usually one to say a comment like "How can anyone dislike this?!" but I'm afraid I have to.

I really can't see a flaw in this masterpiece. Why and how can anyone dislike it?

  • @FerrariGood Man you said it,I love this!!!

  • @FerrariGood there's so many freak out there..

  • @FerrariGood Ditto my friend. The music still sends a chill down my neck like the first time i heard it all those years back..........

  • @FerrariGood

Just copy and paste earlier comments from previous youtubes and pick up loads of thanks.

And then act like you never done it before !! ;)

  • @FerrariGood I grew up listening to this and am proud to say that I have since turned on a few more people to it! LOVE THIS!!!!

  • some people dont like stuff that cant be improved

  • @FerrariGood - Concerning the dislikes, there are always those that are negative. If anyone cannot enjoy this classic masterpiece, then they have a problem beyond music.

This score is pure perfection as far as music goes.

  • @FerrariGood Reapetition is its one main flaw i think - but don't get me wrong, i really appreciate it too

  • @FerrariGood How about this. Jeff Wayne has never performed in Hawai'i. And I don't see him doing that. =Stefan=

  • @FerrariGood The only thing wrong with this music is the speed of which my internet decides to load it . :P

  • @FerrariGood well, altoguh i really apreciate this being remade and such, ive got to admit that it doesnt really strike the same nerve somehow, not that its bad in anyway, it just doesnt quiet get the same feeling of the original track, hope you know what i mean?

  • Totally amazing! Love this.

  • ULLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • one word: WOW! Timeless and Epic
