  • sounds like they were drivin this bus in 2nd the entire time. takes the fun out of drivin the flx.

  • @jtizzle369

@jtizzle369 Nope, bus wasn't in 2nd; it was in "D" throughout out the recording, went thru all 3 gears like normal. The quality of the recording is degraded here on YouTube, so you might not hear it well. If you'd like, go to my SkyDrive (link in the info section) to download/listen to the real recording in all of it's ooey gooey goodness!!

  • @MetroLinerXLZ lol i think i was sidetracked when listenin to it the first time. my bad!

  • I suspect GRTC is not switching to any other manufacturer then Gillig for the forseeable future. Many TAs are making their attempts to have almost their entire fleet made by 1 manufacturer. GRTC with Gillig. Same possibly with HRT. And even Delaware DART. And DC, Baltimore, and Philly more likely New Flyer for the forseeable future.

  • wat bout Cali TAs?

  • Not necessarily true there. It has been said that GRTC may move towards CNG in the future. And Gillig doesn't make CNG buses and no longer provides CNG conversion kits for existing buses.

You might be right on HRT, seeing that they are currently going towards hybrid-electric vehicles.

  • so if GRTC make dat move, which maufacter they might pick?

  • Man I just love the Old School Detroit Diesel engines. Both DD V6 and V8 versions are pretty tough sounding

  • Man 6V92 powered Flxibles are Legend buses

  • damn i miss those buses

  • same wit me

  • Oh man, those were the times, before 2003. All those Metros...the old 100s, 300s, and 800s.

I wish GRTC kept them around at least untill this year.

  • i damn sho miss the 800's wit them softer seats and the 147'-155's wit tha L10's those buses made me like them even more and yeah they should've kept them till this year they still had time left on them

  • same here, u remeber the old new look flxible and gmc new look, etc?

  • o yea, what year r da old 100s and old 800s?

  • 100's gotta be 1990 and im not too sure on the 800's tho all i know its from tha 80's

  • but i know the old 200s, 500s 600s 700s r 4rm da 70s,

  • The 100's were Model Year 1988, the 800's were Model Year 1985. The 300's were Model Year 1991.

  • thanks 4 da info. didnt the old 200s, 500s, 600s, 700s come out in da 70s?

  • o yea didnt GRTC ordered about 55 Flxibles in 1988? and also didnt da 200s,500s,600s,700s come out in da 70s as well?

  • actually its 146-155, and yea they had cummins L10, 101-145 had the detroit diesel on them, i miss those buses alot

  • same here, u remember the old 200s, 500s, 600s, 700s?

  • hell yeah i miss dem 200' small flxi's 500's gmc fishbowl's the 600's was the am general's which grtc still got only one that they turned into bus they use for tha lil' ones and the 700's were the flxi's new look 40' damn those were the days and im only 25

  • o btw, when do GRTC contract with Gillig expire?

  • As far as I know, the deal is open-ended.

  • isnt it about time GRTC start to diversify the fleet/roster a lil bit more?

  • it does feel dead around here, i bet errybody wanted 2 hop on 1 when they 1st hit da streets of Richmond lol

  • Is this a 35 Ft or 40 Ft bus? Nice engine!

  • This is a 35 Feet Flxible Bus. Metro B.
