Jesus made it very clear "Render unto Caesar that which is Ceasar's; and unto God the things that are God's." That's the clearest explanation of duty to our country's laws, if they don't conflict with God's laws."
"My kingdom is not of this world." Once we learn that, our duties are clear.
I just love when Alvin has this awakening. Great scene.
I am always amazed with what audacity the timid American cry-babies dare to tell the world their war fairy-tales! Take this nonsense for example: In fact a single deserting German trooper did capture this phoney hero among with 3,546 other American cry-babies. During some distant shelling he slipped out of his trench, passed no man’s land and reached the American positions with having a white flag attached to his riffle; the Americans thought he demanded their surrender and gave up.
Country before God? Never. This is such a sad story of how a good christian goes bad. It should be noted that the US was in no jeopardy except financially in WWI. The US banks loaned tons to the brits and french. We went to war more or less to ensure those debts were repaid.
I ken jest be a trustin in somethin a heep bigger than I be!

@golfdude2007 Of course there can be countries without God and God without countries.
Matter of fact we who follow Jesus know that our "home country" is not of this world.
Just as our forefathers left despotic European nations to come to the New World for
freedom to worship as they chose, one day WE may have to leave THIS nation in search
of freedom. Despotic forces have HIJACKED the U.S. gov't. Our liberty is being STOLEN
from us daily. We follow GOD, not gov't or jingoistic "patriotism".
