  • muy bueno!!!

  • that was Great! And nice quality too, what did you use to record the audio?

  • @Zjoewagtuh That's RODE NT4 + ZOOM H1.

I don't really remember. So I put it down on my blog. Check the link under this video for more detail.

    Thanks.

  • What is you email? I have a carcassi question.

  • @Phantasm70 Go to my channel page. Click "Contact Joe"

  • great performance. I love the sound of the recording.

  • Bravo Joe!!!!!

  • Nice!! Is that a new guitar?? Looks new...

  • @mazlanhalim Yes. This is my new spruce top guitar.

  • what's the name of the guitar?

  • @mazlanhalim ROMERIGO S 01

The link is in the description under this video.

  • very nice!

  • Lovely choice of Bach and very well played, 5*.

  • Well done

  • excellent

  • Sounds like new strings

  • @jimeerey This is a set of Luthier Concert Silver Set 30. I put them on about 3 month ago. I used my nail polish sand paper to polish the 1st string (around the sound hole) right before the recording.

  • Muito Bom Mesmo! Valeu ..trabalho como este deve sempre ser publicado!

  • excellent work Joe!! Greetings and respect from Holland, Bram

  • Beautiful job. The notes at 0:42 sound different from my transcription. Who arranged your transcription?

  • @arr4gtr cuz you have to look at the original score! its F there, and not E, as it was played by many idiots, such as segovia, yepes and other people, who dont know notes!!

  • @SimonPhoenix1985 The original is in C minor so the pedal point is note Eb. There's an early copy of such a score and I find the E-flat (F in bass on guitar) desputable, like Segovia and others. I do what Peo does in his video, keep the E pedal point and sharpen the higher f to F# (making the chord a 7th chord - and NOT a F7th. It makes perfect musical sense, and honestly, the earliest copies of this piece are mistaken. There are a TON of descrepancies in Bach's hand and this is one.

  • @brtherjohn Thank you so much for your input. I'll certainly do an E version later.

Can I quote your comment on my blog? I'll link it to your YouTube channel if it's permitted. Thanks!

    Joe

  • @ClassicalJoeNo1 Sure - go ahead!

Let it be known by the sheer number of performances of the prelude I hold a minority opinion. But it really makes better musical sense to keep the E pedal point and sharpen the higher F above in that bar, otherwise it's an awkward sounding chord progression. In my Bach keyboard sheet music collections there are SO many editorials it's really hard to determine what is authentically Bach, and what are possible manuscript errors. I think this is one of them.

  • @brtherjohn Got it. Thanks again!

At measure 23, all of the keyboard version of this prelude I've heard play E flat in C minor, which is equivalent to F after transposed to D minor. It sounds convincing to me when listening to the keyboard version.

Anyways, good to hear different opinions.

    Joe

  • @ClassicalJoeNo1 Yes, and that's what I've heard as well. Again, I'm in the minority opinion here. From what I've known in studying Bach (30+ years), I still find this measure, as commonly performed, rather jarring, and could never find any similar passage, chord progression, etc., in anything else by Bach to date.

BTW, you do play this splendidly, as everything else on your channel. Continued success!

  • @arr4gtr Yes. I played an F bass in stead of E in this recording. I'll talk about it on my blog later.

  • Wonderful!!!

  • Nice interpretation!! Very technical!!

  • Nicely done Joe! I love Bach.

  • @PienaarGuitar Thanks. Same here.

  • awesome Joe! Nice guitar also.

  • @glassynails Yeah. I like this new spruce top guitar too.

  • Great job! I've been having a little try at this myself, it's a bit tricky in places. Look forward to your next upload :-)

  • @Terrestrify Thanks for watching. Yes, there are quite a lot of tricky spots, especially when we don't use slurs at all.

  • superb!

  • Do you think you could put your music available for download? :)

  • @uffale I'll put it on my blog later. The link is under this video.

  • Outstanding man... You have such beautiful balance between musicality, and technique. How long have you been studying Classical Guitar? Have you had any instructors?

  • @diablolordz Thanks.

This is an excellent piece of music and superb for right hand arpeggio practice too.

I started to play the guitar more than 20 years ago. Yes. I did have a teacher back then when I was in China.
