  • This guy should be a politician--He can talk and talk and talk without actually saying anything.

  • Disagree with much of this. First, how a material (cotton/linen...whatever) is prepared is what determines how smooth or coarse the surface is for the painting. It is possible to prime and sand & prime and sand to acquire a smooth surface for fine detailed paintings (small brushes, thin applications) on just about any coarseness. You do not say WHY factory-prepped canvases are inferior nor WHY linen is superior. You just allude to the cost of linen, which only makes it superior in cost.

  • Linen has a smoother weave, is stronger and better for portraits.

  • @Jcsharitz There are plenty of linen canvas that have rougher weaves. Sometimes the Venetians used Hemp to paint on because it is a strong material. In museums the weave is very easily seen as it was very rough. The ground that is put over it can smooth out a rough canvas weave.

  • Venetians used Wood panel..

  • @Jcsharitz Actually no. The Venetians were the first ones to make widespread use of canvas. Venice is too humid for wooden panels and they would warp. Canvas painting was basically started by the Venetians.

  • you obviously like to hear yourself talk, and apparently be on cam as well.

  • A good formula to what!!!!.. 1.18 mins. Ooops!

Like your style.. But you DO have to buy linen. Cotton canvas is rubbish in comparison. If I want to practice or make sketch paintings I use primed MDF. All else is on Linen for me!

    Thanks for the video.

  • I think that linen is more for portraits because of the grain.
