  • and what about dumping that still going on in the ------------ocean,s

    DD

  • lol i know a girl named sierra and we always call her a whale cuz shes FAT!!

  • The hell they aren't your whales.

  • Nice video,

The best way to go Green is to work to reduce immigration.

Why ride a bike, have few children and turn off lightbulbs yet allow the government to bring in millions of immigrants that will have a dozen children and make taxpayers pay for it all.

In USA millionaire donated the Sierra Club Environmentalist organization 100 million dollars and told them to stop mentioning overpopulation or immigration.

  • @rocketsredglare101

This may be the stupidest argument for xenophobia that I have ever heard. Fake supposition, essentially no connection between supposition and conclusion. All hate.

    Good job. Heil Gore!

  • The #1 factor for environmental degradation, wildlife declines, & GHG production is human population & growth. So the Sierra club not addressing that means you are frauds.

The environment & wildlife & the next generation deserve better stewards than you corporate shills. You should all be ashamed of yourselves letting your organization get hijacked & subverted from its purpose

Google "Strategic Negligence" and read jerry Kammer's expose of it

    Shame on you Sierra Club!

  • @rocketsredglare101

    > the best way to go Green is to work to reduce immigration.

Sorry, drawing a new imaginary line on a map has a productive effect? Golly you gov types sure are clever. I sure can't make that happen.

  • @rocketsredglare101 Take your off-topic white nationalist hate and shove it.

  • @Zenthik shut up faggot go help the beaners cross the boarder if you care so much.

  • Can I hear from somebody who actually has some knowledge of physics?

I have a PhD in Engineering. Shatner has played a character in a camp series (which I love, BTW). I really don't need him to tell me how the world works.

WTF does CO2 have to do with blue whales? Fuck, their food likes both CO2 and warmth.

And does it seem to anybody else that the intensity of the argument for global warming alarmism is inversely proportional to the knowledge of the person making the argument?

  • "WTF does CO2 have to do with blue whales? Fuck, their food likes both CO2 and warmth."

CO2 > Higher Temps > Melted Polar Caps > Disrupted Ocean Currents > Impact...

  • @stevelatinner

CO2 > More Plankton > More Food > More Whales.

Doesn't the above sound like a more obvious and direct chain of events? The thing they eat eats CO2. They are starving for food and don't mind higher temperature (as evidenced by their having prospered through the previous interglacial, which was hotter than now by several degrees C).

But don't let facts or reason stop you. Invent some scary sounding scenarios and throw them around with no regard to plausibility.

  • @sdkee They did not say that Blue Whales have something to do with global warming! If you listen to the video they getting at the point that nature can make a comeback if we let it. If we stop putting so much CO2 in the atmosphere then the ice will stop melting as fast, if it does not slow down the amount of fresh water added to the oceans will change the currents, that could start another ice age, because nature will try to correct the problem.

  • @ ChrisArcen

    >nature can make a comeback

Comeback from what? Life is everywhere.

    > If we stop putting so much CO2 in the atmosphere then the ice will stop melting as fast

Which ice is melting? How sure are you of the statistics?

  • I am talking about the planet itself being able to stabilize the environment if we stop filling the atmosphere with greenhouse gases. If the temperatures keep rising then life will not be everywhere!

  • @ ChrisArcen

    > if we stop filling the atmosphere with greenhouse gases

Quick: What percentage of greenhouse warming is due to humans? Do you een know?

Atmospheric CO2 has been an order of magnitude higher than today when life was thriving. We could burn all known fossil fuel reserves and not get even close to there.

Life will survive. *Humans* may not, but life was quite happy for millions of years with far higher CO2 than now.

  • @ChrisArcen

    > planet itself being able to stabilize the environment

The planet doesn't give a shit if we live on it or not. Any feedback is through life like us.

If the temperatures keep rising then life will not be everywhere.

Temps are not rising (and it is rather alarming that they are *not* seeing that we are coming out off a cold spell), but , you can suppose what you want.

  • Are you trying to prevent Star Trek 4?

  • he he

  • Did you know that the "sierra club" is considered to be a terrorist organization by the U.S. government? Check out the history of there board member Paul Watson.

  • Crazy cool.

  • just wonderful!!! if only more people cared about the whales!

  • acropetalsentient, warman58, goefursewf you guys are americans... you can't and will not ever understand global warming. But we forgive you, you are americans so...monkeys do crazy and stupid monkeys stuff, its ok...

  • didn't that guy steal a whale or two from the past?

  • Comment removed

  • Explain why there is a consensus on global warming?

Maybe your answer to your science question is something you haven't found yet?

  • Beautiful film. Well done. Check out "California Anthem" on YouTube to see why we have to protect our state's flora and fauna.:)

  • Mr Shatner

I was luck enough to go to the Falkland Islands last year. Most memorably I sat beside a coloney of Gentoo Penguins, they smell! But I lay on the grass about 15 metres away and a couple came over to investigate me!

It was an amazing experience for that little bit of time I felt at one with nature.

We nolonger use plastic bags only cotton reusable. We recycle everything we can.

    Thank you

  • I have found that the most profound moments have come with experiences with animals. in Freestone California where 6 massive horses crossed a field and finally stopped and greeted me with snorts and hoofing... similar to Clydesdale. Just huge, I was transformed by the time the reached the wire. Another time I was on the Catalina ferry coming back to Long Beach at sunset, when the ferry was completely surrounded by a pool of Dolphins, all breeching in the golden light, swimming along with us.

  • Yeah !!!William!!!

    Keep up the great work!!!

  • and the Sierra club too!!!

  • hehe, lets just say that the whale was a humpbuck whale and in a movie he like activated time warp and collected 2... now this is just weird

  • The majority of plant life would thrive in an increased CO2 environment with associated heating. It would also lead to increases in oxygen levels worldwide as a result of plants respiration.

The answer is to protect what little green spaces this earth has left. Not blaming john q sample for his miniscule CO2 emmisssions. Look to governments and industry to stop the majority of it.

Its like having the landlord blame you for damp when he wont install glass in the windows!

  • @clarkiesyeah but if you put 6 billion John Q's together the effect they have is tremendous! If we all use less energy then less will need to be created and that will cut the CO2 emissions drastically!

  • much respect and thanks to William Shatner!!

  • What if, just what if global warming is not man made? What if the globalists have merely jumped on a natural occurance (Caused by increase in solar activity) to create more taxes to rob us all blind and control our lives even further?

I'm just saying what if? Only there is evidence to suggest this.

  • As someone who has studided the environemnt of our planet at degree level i am confident amd agree thate whilst a period of global warming, is a natural hallmark of the onset of a new ice age we are adding to the problem and have done since the Industrial Revoultion. Humanity's activities only serve to excerbate the problem. So much so that the natural feedback mechanisms put in place by nature are in danger of breaking down. That's what's worrying our scientists so much :(

  • don't believe the fossil fuel industry's disinformation campaign who want you to believe it AINT fossil fuels...

believe REAL DEAL scientists like the Royal Society who have debunked "the sun" BS!

  • But this has happened before, before we were here, did fossil fuels do it then too? I believe that global warming is happening and we are probably accelerating it, but it will happen with or without us. I think that yes, we should be cleaner, but we should also make sure we can survive what the earth has in its plan for us.

  • Comment removed

  • Look - if you want to be cleaner, burn less carbon, then let's do it the most environmentally & cheapest way possible... nuclear. Sorry, that's not what you wanted to hear is it? But it's true - all the wind and solar power together cannot be equivalent to one nuclear power plant. So why doesn't the Sierra Club endorse this clean, cheap, & efficient method of energy creation & consumption. Also what about clean Diesel? It's much more efficient than hybrid. Where is the "club's" support for that?

  • Agreed. Wind and solar account for 2% of our energy production, it's not going to be enough. Gonna have to be nuclear which produces almost no CO2. My thinking has gone 180 degrees from against to it's the only solution. France (which is 80% nuclear) does it right reusing the spent fuel, so that all their waste combined for the past 30 years amounts to the size of one tractor trailer. Hope all technologies including solar and wind and nuclear move forward.

  • BTW, in the spirit of full disclosure - I'm not a supporter nor contributor to the "club" - I do think some of the things they do have good intentions, but I disagree with their fundamental structure and philosophy... I'm just a William Shatner fan ;)

  • this has not happened before....

    you "THINK".....

you need to disprove with PEER-REVIEWED SCIENCE

    I BET U CAN'T

  • @clarkiesyeah What if it is real and we do nothing? Are you going to let the 100 million people that are displaced by rising sea levels come and live with you?

  • @clarkiesyeah what if it is real and we all die? It is better to pay taxes to clean up our only planet and have healthier lives!

  • I totally agree. Forget the credit crunch, global warming, climate change is the real threat to every single one of us. We only have one planet and we cannot leave it. If we want to save our only home we have to work now to save it or face our own extinction. Do we really want the last humans to look back at us and curse us because we failed to act now? If you dont do it for yourself, do it for your children !

  • Oh Whales are my favorite animals. They are so gracious. This is Great
