  • Pure Class.....

  • I heard another great version of this song by a guy called David McClenaghan check it out..

  • Cottlers Row, where Doyle grew up, is no longer standing but the local Heritage Council in Cobh have, in the past few weeks, erected a stone monument in his honour by where the row of houses stood.

  • Mikefromireland , thanks for mentioning the concert , hadn't realised he was making a return to the NCH. just booked my tickets . Go raibh mile maith agat

  • A wonderful song about Jack Doyle, the Gorgeous Gael and Irish heavyweight boxing contender. Married to the beautiful Movita, but died penniless and in the gutter. The song is breathtaking. Jimmy McCarthy is a national treasure and I can't wait to see him in NCH in March.

  • Couldn't agree more it would be great if this version was better known because it deserves more recognition. MacCarthy is still gigging, I heard this song live at the National Concert Hall in Dublin last summer and he's playing there again this March. Get those tickets while you can and you will be in for a treat
