@Gregd8888 i had a male ferret that weighed 3 lb,, till he got sick, but my female albino ferret never got over 1 1/2 the vet thought she was teeny tiny so 2 lbs is probably about avg
He reminds me of my one ferret who had passed away, she was so sweet. But we have another around still, she sadly has that same disease which makes her bald at the back of her tail. Before we had to move her into a room where she would be dark, it helped but recently it's come back. So we're just watching her carefully until we find another solution. Otherwise she couldn't be happier at the time.
Does he have Adrainal Gland disease? I'm wondering because of his losing hair on his tail and that's what's happening with my ferret, and we were told he had that
I adopted Bartleby alone because I could only afford one ferret, and he didn't have any cagemates at the shelter. If a person can afford the money and has space, they should get more than one ferret. Ferrets usually love each other and really bond with each other. It's also easier on the owner because the ferrets have each other for playmates and don't look to you to play with them as much. However, some ferrets never get along with any others in their home and are loners.
@ZenandTao if you do get two i recommend getting them both at the same time. Ive had 1 solo for a long time now and hes great. But i got a second at one time and they didnt really seem to get along very well.
Aside from a few contagious diseases, ferrets develop different kinds of cancer (which is not contagious). The best thing to do is read Ferrets for Dummies (2nd. Edition) to learn about symptoms and treatment of different ferret conditions.
I didn't feed Evo when I filmed this, but I do incorporate it into our food now. I really like it, as well, and a large bag lasts us a year when we mix it with three other foods.
Yes, I have. In 2007, I moved in with my boyfriend who had five ferrets, and through the years, a few have died, and a few have come into our homes. We have five now.
@psycho506 that's good to hear, pets really make a home. im actually looking to get one myself so im on the forums and doing constant research. hopefully i'll have one soon
My wife and I have had a total of 15 ferret's, we are down to 8 ferret's now. We love our animal's as children but when they pass away it really hurts, I will be the first to admit it. Cherish your animal's as you do people and don't be scared or embrased to say I love you, even to your animal's.
It takes some getting used to because they have some unusual quirks, and they do require more money saved for vet issues, but I don't think they're very high maintenance at all.
if you come visit at my place, my ferret, Aurora, will steal your insoles. and then hide them. my boyfriend went to work without an insole one morning because of her! hehe
Bartleby was very precious, thanks for posting this. it's hard to lose a pet when they're a part of your family. i dread the day i lose any of my "kids" :(
Bartelby reminded me of my big boy 'bunny',he loved to steal.Rest In Peace little guy,i hope you and my Bunny boy are beeping and war dancing all over heaven!
cute litttle feller :D hehe he often steals socks and gloves, or even tryes jumping all the way up to my computer table to grabbing a snack if i have one xD
such an adorable little guy...sorry to hear you have lost him...We just lost our Taz this past Saturday 12/18/10...I'm watching other's videos now and reminessing....I miss him so...
Whenever I see this it makes me want to buy a ferret but I have not much space as it is and since ferrets need a lot of space that'd be a bad idea. But well maybe someday when I got a bigger apartment.
my ferrret stole my stuff all the time. i fouond my money still in the clip under the couch in a rip he made. sorry to hear bout bartlby he looked likea rambunctious little scamp
@Phoenixmike100 you think its ridiculous but its funny because i used to say that when my brother did it with his kittens and puppies but at some point it becomes involuntary lol
Awww hes so cute I can't imagine having a ferret. Im used to having dogs and 1 cat. I can't imagine how gentle you might have to be with them or how much stuff they really get into!!
Its funny how when people talk to their pets their voice goes all high-pitched and in some cases, annoying. XD I don't mean this in a really mean way btw, it's just something I've noticed for a while now :)
Bartleby was a single ferret until I moved in with my boyfriend, and he was fine. Pairs are great because they don't bug you to play with them as much. But if you're expecting a pair to reproduce, that won't happen. All the ferrets at stores and shelters are neutered.
@psycho506 so would it be ok if i got two males or two females or a different sex pair (sorry to bug you again) and i forgot to say your ferret is beautiful and sorry for your loss :'(
Awww adorable ferret. I have 2 and there awesome i love ferrets mine are named Fatty Daddy and Bizz there great. there really funny they love garbage cans and Empty water bottles funny right. And they love going in the shower with me. But that was really cool what you're ferret does funny. He's really pretty beautiful coat.
They're way more like cats and dogs than any other pet. They need vet care and have a number of expensive illnesses, and they need time out of a cage for several hours a day. If you're thinking of getting a ferret, read Ferrets for Dummies 2nd. Edition.
That's cool, small world! I have harnesses and leashes for all of them, but trying to take them for a walk is always an adventure, even if it's only two at a time, so the house is pretty much theirs. They have two large cages attached with a connecting tunnel, but they're out at least 8 hrs a day. It's hard to believe that three years ago I barely knew what a ferret was- now I can't imagine life without them. They really are the greatest pets ever. Wish ferrets got more publicity.
Awww... Bartleby could be my Max's twin brother; so many of the same mannerisms- even the way his walk has a slight hop. I'm so sorry he passed- what a sweetie. I have 5 little fuzzies myself and don't quite know how I'll handle it when they start moving on. I wish more people knew what a joy ferrets are; I live in Las Vegas, so I don't take them outside much, but when I do, people fall instantly in love. Thanks for the video- I need to get mine online asap. They are amazing.
I live in North Las Vegas now. I don't take them out much either anymore, but when we lived in Chicago, Bartleby went out with me every chance he got.
I have a ferret named Koko. I absolutely love ferrets. I had another one, but she ended up getting sick and passing away. Koko is getting old. She'll be seven this year. :(
A group of ferrets is a "business." I like to think it's pronounced "bizee-ness" of ferrets cuz they are so very busy all the time (when they're awake that is).
I've never heard of a pastell ferret, and he's not albino because he has black eyes and some color on him. Hes a dark-eyed white. Before his colors changed, he was a silver mitt.
Like I said, it depends on where you go and probably where you live. Leela was the first ferret we adopted here in Vegas. She was a rescue from CA, and she was bought at a PetLand in LV that closed recently. She came with all her papers from the store, and she was $250. She was also microchipped and had a generous vet health guarantee, which I am sure is the reason for her cost. $250 is the most I've seen. Breeder ferrets are much more expensive, however.
wow realy cuz where i live (New York) rescue ferrets are $70 from breeders there only $120 and the most ive seen at a pet store is $170 with papers and decented
The circuit breaker controlling it flipped. It was about 120 or close to it outside. Our A/C was set to 78, and I think the neighbors got greedy and set theirs really cool, tripping ours. I guess I'll never know for sure.

Is this a pastell ferret or albino?
eprexe 2 years ago
I've never heard of a pastell ferret, and he's not albino because he has black eyes and some color on him. Hes a dark-eyed white. Before his colors changed, he was a silver mitt.

How do they normaly cost in a pet store, I'm just curious.
Mr291229 2 years ago
It depends on where you go. Usually around $250.
psycho506 2 years ago
no they"re not 250 in pet stores there about $130-$170 wish i had 1 -.-

I'm sorry to hear that he passed away, may I ask how did he die.

It was adrenal disease complications that prevented his body temperature from returning to normal after our A/C went out.

@psycho506 yd ur a/c go out??

@sAsUsAkU6000
The circuit breaker controlling it flipped. It was about 120 or close to it outside. Our A/C was set to 78, and I think the neighbors got greedy and set theirs really cool, tripping ours. I guess I'll never know for sure.
