@deadlystylez SAS training is similar to Russian Special Forces training. No country has the 'toughest' training. There are so many forces that don't even reveal their training, some people that don't even talk about it because of how gruesome it was.

Small changes last. It took me 2 years in total but I've not smoked for 3 1/2 years now. I think you'll do it because you want to.

That's because in SAS selection there's no one screaming at you, no one to motivate you. If you decide to quit they just let you go no questions asked. It's much different from the Legion or parachute brigades where there is a sergeant screaming at you and your comrades get punished when you quit.
@stanthema It's harder when there's nobody screaming at you, you have no motivation except yourself. That is the toughest thing to overcome, that is yourself.
I think most people have missed the point, these guys were always going to be punished. You could behave impeccably, it doesn't matter, because the reality is, the stuff these guys spend all day doing IS training, it's just wrapped up as punishment to encourage unity and team work.
The whole missing dinner and training thing is just to see who cracks.

I think most people have missed the point, these guys were always going to be punished. You could behave impeccably, it doesn't matter, because the reality is, the stuff these guys spend all day doing IS training, it's just wrapped up as punishment to encourage unity and team work.
The whole missing dinner and training thing is just to see who cracks.

@DhrVanEe He was SAS in formal title only. He was a reservist. If you consider 2 weekends a month in a depot in Great Britain to be enough training to make you equivalent to SAS regulars who train virtually nonstop all over the world. Sure, you can consider him SAS. :D

@DhrVanEe No, I'm not SAS. If I was I would probably be much more offended by Bear Grylls. His impostor act has been discussed to death online and investigated by reliable sources including currently active SAS members with access to unit records.
I believe it was the same group that exposed a large group of Green Beret and DEVGRU impostors who had been given community awards for their "bravery" in "combat." Turns out they never left the country, they were engineer reservists.

@PontoonTeek That's terrible, I know that in France it is forbidden to wear a military uniform if you're not a soldier, same for medals... Well for the DEVGRU and Green Baret impostors I think it's also taht they try to preserve this elite reputation about it, so awarding them with medals most be part of it... But it sucks either way !

@PontoonTeek come on man, give credit where it is due. I'm very confident that the training for sas reservist is very tough as well. At the end of the day they do have a reputation to uphold. And besides he did climb everest in extreme conditions (3 men died) and he is very fit and knows what he's talking about. I say bravo to Bear! he is an inspiration!

@faxmachineman1000 I didn't say he wasn't capable. I know for a fact I couldn't do 1/4 the amazing shit he does. I wouldn't put up with Ferguson's bullshit for 10 minutes but Bear hardly complained. I just do not like that he purposefully presents himself as ex-SAS when he certainly WAS NOT in a reg-force SAS unit.

@MrLeggy11 He said he did a training parajump into an "undisclosed location" in Northern Africa and broke his back on the landing. The SAS has no records of any reservists participating in any parajumps whatsoever in Africa. Also note that the Artists Rifles is not a paracoy, ie: not para qualified.

@CGHomey5 I donno man... I was in the corps for 4 years and we pretty much did most of this stuff too... the most i ever hiked was 28 miles and these guys hike way more then that... they get respect from me, actually Ferguson reminds me a lot of nco's i used to have in my infantry plt.
