@willsmackyoudown do u realise that USA created 3 of this sports (baseball, hockey and basketball)? u have to create sports to be good at something. Muhammad was really good, but he became really famous because he was a mediatic character and he is the best of only 1 weight. u can't said jimmy connors is the best at tennis. AF was invented because u were too fat to run 80 minutes like in a rugby game and u can't play real football because u don't like being fucked by south americans
@toyacas That really comes off like something people outside the u.s made up to keep from feeling inadequate when compared to americans. USA did not invent basketball, canadaians did, but as you can see we dominate it, and its played all over the world, even the best international players play for their home countries and we still end up winning, Hockey another sport invented by canadians but we are atleast competitve at that, we have a soccer and rugby team, so saying we are to fat to play...
@91gt306 basketball it was not invented by canadians, the idea was invented by a canadian but the game was made in massachusets and about hockey I thought he was talking about north america because @willsmackyoudown said waynbe gretzky was the best, a canadian, and please don't tell football to a sport you play with your hands
@toyacas The idea was invented by canadians. Ok so whats the difference? The sport would probably not exist today without canadians. We didnt invent the sport just to be good at something. @bebomac also rugby players dont rush at the ball carrier they wait for him. so if you think about it the ballcarrier has the greater momentum but the tackler more often than not still brings him down. but the rushing nature of NFL tackles would generate greater force.
@GrubbySatan1991 A defender who waits for a ball carrier will fail miserably, be harshly scolded, most likely benched, and labeled incompetent. Waiting go's against the very nature and object of AF. Plays, games, careers, and Superbowls, have been determined by mere inches: watch?v=JpYbRxgAAwo .
A ball carrier's fwd momentum must immediately be halted. An impact must be delivered, hopefully jarring the ball loose: watch?v=1D1IGweDXSY .

Always cracks me up to see R fans suggest a lack of technique in AF, It only proves their total cluelessness about the sport.
@bebomac hes kinda got a small point... rugby union players tackle in a manner that brings down the ball carrier but minimises the chance of injury (most of the time). whereas AF players dont care if they give someone a season ending injury. i would say that AF tackles require more brute force but Rugby tackles require more skill. It would be interesting to get some top pro rugby players and conduct a test like this.
Never even heard of the la rugby club get a real pro and they will split these football players in 2. There is no skill in tackling in football in rugby it is so percise you actually need to lear to fall
rugby is a much tougher sport then football however football does have harder hits in football those pads they where are like a weapon they make you feel invincble and since there is no technique required you can just launch yourself
@mattorpaul "there is no technique required you can just launch yourself"?
That statement illustrates how ignorant you and most R fans are of the sport. Technique is trained, practiced and used nonstop. You obviously only know AF from "big hits youtube vids", instead of actual games. What an idiotic statement! Btw, someone attempting R technique on the FB field, will be destroyed.
it bullshit how american made this show. why do you have a football player ran into a tarket with full speed and a rugby player tackle each other like a takedown. that some bullshit like there. I watch football because it feel good when the player run for a touchdown and quater back pass like brady and some hits. I watch rugby because it a lot of tackle like big tackle alot of takedown movement.. result for strong and more tackle go to rugby. Rugby is a legend and football is a rockies
hahahahaha these la rugby dudes cant tackle for shit , you need some one from nz whos a pro at tackling , if sonny bill williams tackled him he would of broke his ribs and went hospital .
American football SUCKS its for wimps. The fact is, in the test they used the hardest hitter in NRL but didn't get a top pro for Rugby. Watch some real men hitting hard, not some women wearing pads. Sorry guys I grew up with both and still hate NRL. I hate the hype of it too. You guys are wimps who couldn't stand 80min of hard hits and running. Only little spurts of playing.
@JadeMRE Lol you mad? Dude your comment is just plain ignorant. That nature of the sport allows guys to be really explosive for their size. Guys have been paralyzed for life playing it, go find those guys and say the crap about them being wimps. You come off really butthurt about the results, but I bet if the results have been rugby hitting harder you wouldnt have had a problem with who they used pro rugby or not. ANd btw quentin jammer is not a big hitter.
So you get one of the hardest hitters in football, and some guys from a local rugby club!? If you wanted an accurate test, get some professional New Zealand or Samoan players. (Not trying to start a fan-boy war against some 10yr old kid.)
@thejerems73 dude... quentin jammer is conerback. He's 6 ft 200lbs. thats minimum 40-50 pounds lighter than the linebackers. he might hit well, but he is FAR from one of the hardest hitters. try Ray Lewis/ James Harrison/ Brian Urlacher/ or Patrick Willis.
Also, i can understand why rugby fans might be upset about how the football player got to tackle a dummy instead of a person. And yes La rugby is pretty wack. But they used a smaller corner back to make up for this. They also want to avoid injury but ultimately football is a collision sport where ur tackling objective is to prevent forward progress, whereas the rugby tackling objective is to force a turnover.
Theres no denying that football hits have a harder impact then rugby hits, thats not say rugby hits are soft by anymeans. rugby players deliver and get hit more in a game than football players. This test sought out to see which sport delivers a bigger impact and that is all, not toughness or difficulty. The nature of the game is different in both sports with different tackling rules and objectives.
@MrKobe2011 Rugby has more tackles than AF. However, when you factor in blocks, which account for 90%+ of AF hits, the hit totals are not even close. The average NFL game, contains as many as 1200 collisions, ranging from 30 G's to 200 G's. There are far more hits in AF.
@bebomac5 calm down man damn! I love american football! I wanna see american football take off on the world stage, the world thinks football is an over padded version of rugby, having played both I know every fallacy in their comparison, like i said they're completely different games. As an american i think football is better, but rugby is a rough game man if u think rugby players arent as tough as football players your mistaken. I hate these comparisons
@MrKobe2011 Not hating. I quite enjoy Rugby, watch a decent amount of both League and Union, and greatly respect the sport. Just pointing out that your statement was statistically inaccurate.
absolutely not. if quenton jammer got dump tackled by chris smolnicky he'd get injured easily, AND quenton jammers pro. the rugby players arent even pros,, if they got ma'a nonu or sebastian chabal to tackle a dummy it would an none issue,, just saying,.
Plus the rugby players were American amateurs and the football player was a professional you get jonah lomu running at an American football player ... No competition
Clearly they used the LA rugby club to make American football look better then it actually is.Chuck a pro rugby player such as Seilala Mapusua, Stirling Mortlock, Manu Tuilagi or Jerome Kaino in there and their results would be entirely different.
@atnmsfts They also used a cornerback to demonstrate the hitting power of an American football player. They're the smallest players on defense. Jammer also sucks.
Rugby vs. football is still a stupid my dad could beat up your dad argument. I only watched this shit because I love pain.
@atnmsfts It wouldn't matter if they used Muppets and Angry Birds to conduct this test, the results would be the same. This test is not about the athletes involved, it's about sports. Rugby is a contact sport AF is a collision sport. In AF high speed impacts, after long, full speed run ups happen constantly. AF hits can sometimes reach 200 G's of force, it's why "the worlds" auto and insurance companies use AF to study the effects of massive impacts on the brain and body.
@atnmsfts That's funny, according to this ad featuring Jamie Heaslip, and many other sources, big Rugby hits measure as high as1600lbs, same as this test.
watch?v=T41zeF9dlWs
It should be noted that the average AF hit has measured 3700lbs-4000lbs in these tests. It should also be noted that Quentin Jammer is a pretty tiny NFL player 6'0 204lb (93kg), but it doesn't matter, the nature of AF is maximum speed, maximum collisions, regardless of player size.
@bebomac5 You are talking out of your ass. Then how do you explain Ray Lewis' 2200IB hit that was also measured on this show. That's less then half of what Jammer produced. It should also be noted that both Jammer and Lewis were tackling dummies. Big rugby hits do not measure 1600Ib, that is the average force for a standard rugby tackle.Big hits would measure far greater.Even the rugby tackle in this experiment was nothing compared to what i've seen in the professional game.
@atnmsfts As usual, you're another Rugby fan, relying on nothing more that emotional opinion, while ignoring logic, reason, and an overwhelmingly massive mountain of facts and evidence against your point. Next you'll resign to a state of denial, and you'll simply keep repeating the same disproven nonsense you alredy have.
@bebomac5 I had a look at all those videos and they are all just mannequin tackling, cheapshots and shoulder charges on unsuspecting players. I've seen much better hits in rugby league. The only legit hit was your first highschool video, but that was due to poor defensive technique from the opposition. If there is anyone giving "disproven nonsense" it is you with your fabricated information.Sorry but your video library still hasn't refuted my previous comment.Stick to tiddlywinks son.
@atnmsfts Just as I said, denial. Fabricated information? Please explain, and be specific.
Although blindside hits only account for a very small percentage of AF hits, they are part of the game, and arer often a part of strategy. If someone gets blindsided, it's usually their fault.
@atnmsfts You will NEVER!..NEVER!!! see 2 Rugby players, moving at absolute 100% speed (often above 20 mph each), speed up! and collide head on with maximum violence! NEVER!!!..Show me "one"!...Happens all the time in AF.
@bebomac5 There you go i've given you 4. I know you'll still deny but thats just who you are. Those are guys running at top speed and launching at each other. All with out pads and helmets.
@UHtiger I post hits involving 20-50 yd run ups, with at least 3 players hospitalized with brain hemmorhaging. You think thats full speed? Really? Alson, maybe I should explain what "head on" means.
@UHtiger I post hits involving 20-50 yd run ups, with at least 3 players hospitalized with brain hemmorhaging, You post several examples of extreme chest bumping.
You think thats full speed? Really? Also, maybe I should explain what "head on" means.
@bebomac5 the guys i posted were running from 15 to 20yards as each play starts from 10meters apart with the ball runner starting his run from at least 5 meters behind that point. Chest bumping? Rugby League players use their shoulders. 20-50yards doesnt mean anything when players reach their full speed within 4 or 5 meters. Head on in rugby terms is exactly what they are doing. If you mean by clashing heads then no rugby players dont do that as they actually tackle.
@UHtiger More like 5 yds a piece. Top speeds are achieved 15 yards and beyond. And that's right! 20+ yds, head on, full speed, maximum impact, No fear, life treatening collision! With only the thought and objective of putting a Hole in your enemy, and not yielding 1 single inch. there is No comparison! And stats, science, injuries and deaths, back that up! "they actually tackle" Pfft! as if AF plyrs don't. Technique is different, and R technique would be massacred on a football field.
@bebomac5 "more like 5 yards a piece". Um as i clearly stated, every play in rugby league start with them being 10 meters apart. Injury and death stats back up the fact that footballers think charging head first into players is a good idea. From age 5 rugby players train to protect their heads and use their shoulders. When league players rush out of the line of defence to make those sort of tackles its not to get them to the ground, its to dominate them and make them hurt.
@bebomac5 "R technique would be massacred on a football field". Any time a footballer tackles with their shoulder, that rugby technique. The only time there is a difference is when they lead with the head (which according to what ive seen is something A. Football is cracking down on) which is also why there is such a difference in concussion rates.
@UHtiger Most concussions happen at the line of scrimmage, nothing can be done about that. The aim of AF runners, when contact is unavoidable, is to get your pad level below the tackler's, and if he fails to explode through you, punish him. The techniques needed are completely different. Although this youth training vid only covers staight ahead, 2nd level tackles for LB's, and uses this particular coaches terminologies, it's a good illustration of AF basics: watch?v=iIuemVW8RE8
@bebomac5 "with at least 3 players hospitalized with brain haemorrhaging". Yes running flat out and clashing heads while you have a large motorcycle helmet on your head is good n all. The thing is that rugby players dont have that benefit so they use their shoulders.
they should've got the best hitters from international rugbyinstead of some eatarse california rugby club imeancome on that wasnt a fair representation of rugby. how hard is it to get a kiwi in to do some tackling we are EVERYWHERE hahaha
Not exactly a fair comparison... American football players are mostly the cream of the crop. american Rugby players are not. Get some New Zealand rugby players in as a proper competition.
can everyone please stop bashing the u.s.? who cares? for the record, i personally prefer rugby over american football. but what you all don't realize is that we have no control over what it was called many years ago. most "yanks" arent going to watch rugby and say that it isnt as tough as football. and as far as our foreign policy goes, we hate our own congress. ask any u.s. citizen. why is there so much hate for the u.s.? we're being represented by people who don't think like us in every way.
how about we try an England pro rugby player, and the hits isn't all what makes rugby tougher, let's see you football pansies ruck, scrum and fist fight...
hahaha nd he only hits a machine why ?? nd the rugby player is from L.A rugby club ?? fuckn hell gt someone from all blacks or jst a place where rugby is one of there top sports thn see who can hit harder
both arguments are weak... Both sports are intense, and aside from the fact that they are both physical, you can't make a 1:1 comparison between the 2. Pads allow AF guys to hit harder because there is less risk to the tackler, but the biggest hits in AF are when an offensive player throws a block on a unsuspecting defender. Rugby players don't wear pads, and have to be in better physical shape to play longer, but they know when they are going to get hit and can't block others. both are intense.
@EricSHinton When denegrading someone's view point, try showing some semblance of intelligence yourself you muppet. No need to check google when I know the website that has the numbers in the first place. When you get a clue come back and try again. There's a good boy.
@EricSHinton Event means the viewership of the entire event you numpty. The numbers include all the games of the event that is the world cup meaning a single person can view multiple games.
Quentin Jammer is a professional NFL player, where as the LA 'rugby club' are an amateur team from a national that isn't famour for that sport. Put a Tuilagi brother or Ma'a Nonu in there for a proper tackle. Typical yank ignorance.
the point is american football hits have absolutely no technique...you just run into them and hope something happens. With rugby its all about getting the man to the ground. A decent winger would dance past an american defence and a forward would walk all over them. There's no contest!
@Slaughterlouse oh really? How so? Oh that's right its true. Truth hurts I'm afraid but the fact remains that any american footballer trying to take down a rugby player would get the shit kicked out of him
@Slaughterlouse hell you can just look at the video! Sure anyone with a decent run up and a stationary position can make a fancy move but its still a fact that you try that on any decent back they'd be long gone and a forward would walk all over him
just want to point out i play football and played rugby for american football is way better the hits will be harder of course because of pads but come on dnt use no bodies its like a gun or knife which is stupid and in terms of conditioning i would say rugby players are way more fitter as they constantly move and do pause like football after 1st down or incom passes rugby so AF hit harder but Rugby is stronger
so stupid they use an nfl corner and some la no bodies the us national team even suck at rugby they could have picked england wales scotland ireland france italy south africa Australia new zealand players but no faggy la bum raiders none even had mushroom ears a mark of a true player bullshit i say triple those numbers at least!
the NFL is only played in one country but the Superbowl is the 3rd most watched sporting event in the world behind the Olympics and the world cup, that right there tells you witch is more desirable
@EricSHinton The rugby World cup is the 3rd most watched event with the 2007 event getting more than 4 billion views. The superbowl would be up there for the single day events however 90% of the views are from within america with a large portion of the rest being ex pats living in other countries.
@UHtiger your ignorance is laughable, buy a 2011 world fact book and you would know that in 2010 the numbers were #1 FIFA World Cup Final (1.3 billion viewers) 2# Olympic Games: opening ceremony (127 million) #3 Super Bowl (101 million viewers) ......4 billion views LMFAO More than half the world watched it than... LMFAO Idiot, Quit using American websites like "Google" and Wikipedia to try and sound "intelligent" because it's making you and your numbers look retarded
@MUNDOM316 It really makes me laugh. You all make fun of it being Jammer and most bring up Ray Lewis. This show has tested players from most positions including Lewis. Hammers has been the highest being more than double the force of Lewis
@xBABYxKICKERx Bahaha, those were just as hard as nfl with out pads. And about the fights, have you watched nfl "fights". Even when they finally get their helmets off they still don't throw a punch. They just hug until its broken up.
the problem with this is that they are using the LA rugby club. America is not known for there rugby skills. get a member of the ALL BLACKS in there or members from south africa or the UK. you will see some real rugby players
@AVMthrasher thats hardly using their foot since 95% of the time they got it in their hand. you don't even know anything about your own sport...how shocking.
@gladifly i'm an american, and i play rugby. i prefer it over american football, but you europeans or wherever you come from have got to stop with the stupid "that's not football because you don't use your foot" shit. just look up the history of it. there are several versions of what would be considered football that are centuries old. i agree that the only thing that truly makes sense to call football is what us americans call soccer. but who are you arguing with? what's your point?
@gladifly They use their foot when they are: kicking a kickoff, kicking a punt, kicking a Safety punt, kicking a field goal, and kicking an extra point. Just because it has the name foot in it doesn't mean that is what they use.
We'll call it Handegg like you "blokes" always say we should, as soon as you also call rugby that too, after all, it's a game played with an egg shaped ball and primarily using your hands, so Handegg. And basketball is handball now and baseball is batball and hockey is stick-disk.
That's European logic, everything has to be literal.
@bebomac5 You made your statement and I shot it down it's as simple as that, now your getting all sensitive about about, bringing up Maurice green doesn't mean anything as he hasn't got anything to do with you original statement. You lost for once in your life admit it. Are you saying everyone of the guys you bring up that play in the NCAA go on to star in the NFL?
@UHtiger "You shot it down"? Bawahahaha!!! You didn't name "one single" Rugby player. I can name track athletes that used to play AF all day long, are you serious? They Don't Play Rugby! I have to say, this is your saddest argument yet. Anyone who looks at this will laugh at your rediculous logic. Come on, this is beneath you. Lol!... I mean, I know your only trying to save face, but...really? Accept this unholy A**! kicking, and go have a nap.
@bebomac5 "On "every" single NCAA & NFL team there are multple players who are as fast or faster than any Rugby player who as ever existed". Thats your direct quote. I gave you 3 people that played rugby (therefore for that period they were in fact rugby players) where the slowest PB is 10.02. So either in every NCAA and NFL team there are players that do sub 10s then your statement has well and truly been shot down. Jeeze, its not that hard to understand is it. Your starting to sound desperat
@UHtiger As far as NCAA players If I've mentioned them, they "will" be drafted. Ofcouse thats no guarantee of success on the next level. You do know that NCAA FB is as big as the NFL don't you? Every tiny bit of info, about every plyr, coach, team, school, and blade of grass in college football is available 24 hrs a day 365 days a year, through millions of sources. Fyi, Overall, less than 2% of NCAA plyrs will ply in the NFL, less than 10% will last more than 3 yrs.
@bebomac5 /Look, for the last time, throwing words like "elite" and "superior"5 times in every post is not evidence. Once again, stats on a few players doing 4 different workouts is not evidence, esp when those are all short term excercises. You are only proving the notion that AFers are one-dimensional.
Please don't bother replying, your posts are beyond tedious.
@steveo2937 Pfft!..Lol!! My posts have perfectly illustrated my points, and you've offered absolutely nothing to counter, because you have nothing! your arguments have been completely masacred! Btw, those "short term" workouts, on "all" levels are generally 2 separate 3 hr sessions followed by 1-2 hrs of strength training, 5-6 days a week. If you woild stick to facts, you wouldn't have suffered the embarrassment of getting stomped looking like a total moron in public
@steveo2937 hahaah trying to battle bebomac. lol bro just give it up i've seen people school him in a debate. he only has his stats thats all he refers to. yeh g from his view good old usain bolt is the greatest living athlete.
he reckon HS footballer are better athletes then pro rugby players and he himself played college just waiting for the day for him to move his ass from this desk and show that a guy like him can easily make it into a poor rugby team.
Case in point, take DeSean Jackson vs. Bryan Habana. They both play similar "speed" positions (WR and winger), and both are considered to be at least among the quickest in their games. DJ ran a 4.29 40y, BH ran a 10.4 100m. DJ is AT LEAST 20lbs lighter but only bout 2cm shorter. BH can bench 350, bout 100 lbs more than DJ. And I think you can guess who's a better tackler.
@steveo2937 It figures you would point out one of the 3 smallest players in the NFL, Btw, Jackson's 100 meter time is 10.3. On "every" single NCAA & NFL team there are multple players who are as fast or faster than any Rugby player who as ever existed. Bryan Habana, pfft! Do you have anyone else? The last thing you want to talk about when comparing R athletes to AF's is speed! It's not even close. Ponder the following numbers while you float in fantasy land!
@UHtiger Your referring to Dwain Chambers, The former British Olympic sprinter and confirmed steroid user, who got smoked by Maurice Greene (USA) in the Sydney Olympics.
The main problem with your argument is that he played in NLF Europe "before" he "trained only" for Rugby Legue for about "2 minutes". How stupid of you to bring that up.
@bebomac5 He played 3 matches for a semi professional team before being dropped. Still played though. Your statement was that in the nfl and ncaa there are several players in every team that are as fast or faster than anyone that has ever played was it not?
Patrick Johnson and Josh Ross from australia are sprinters that grew up playing rugby league.
@UHtiger I've got nothing to say because you've given nothing worthy of response. The guys you mentioned, don't even play Rugby! Fyi, US Olympic champions and legends, Carl Lewis, Maurice Greene, Michael Johnson, Walter Dix, Tyson Gay, and many more, "All" grew up playing AF. Now your just sounding pathetic and desparate. Just Give it up!
@UHtiger Wait til you see the crop of players coming to the NFL next year. Like Heisman Trophy winner (RG3) Robert Griffin III, who qualified for the Olympic US trials at 17. QB 6'2 220lb (100kg), with blazing speed and a lazer accurate arm. watch?v=TADo6WFgndU . And the Bama Beast, Trent Richardson: watch?v=2pI4GZg8QYk .

I watch football because it feel good when the player run for a touchdown and quater back pass like brady and some hits. I watch rugby because it a lot of tackle like big tackle alot of takedown movement.. result for strong and more tackle go to rugby. Rugby is a legend and football is a rockies

JadeMRE 6 days ago
@JadeMRE Lol you mad? Dude your comment is just plain ignorant. That nature of the sport allows guys to be really explosive for their size. Guys have been paralyzed for life playing it, go find those guys and say the crap about them being wimps. You come off really butthurt about the results, but I bet if the results have been rugby hitting harder you wouldnt have had a problem with who they used pro rugby or not.

I believe picking someone up to tackle them (drop tackling) is illegal? or at least for US U-19 it is.
jeffmdgn 1 week ago
@jeffmdgn
It's not illegal in collegiate play so long as you follow the ball-carrier to the ground.
Anyone else notice that they're using a back line for this demonstration? I'm pretty sure a flanker or 8man could deliver some better blows.
Finally, you have to wrap in rugby when you tackle. Apples and oranges as to how the force is applied (direct, penetrating, ramming motion = football)
protossenslaver 1 week ago in playlist Favorite videos
@jeffmdgn just dont dump the guy head first and you'll be fine.
aseroxmilez 1 week ago
Also, i can understand why rugby fans might be upset about how the football player got to tackle a dummy instead of a person. And yes La rugby is pretty wack. But they used a smaller corner back to make up for this. They also want to avoid injury but ultimately football is a collision sport where ur tackling objective is to prevent forward progress, whereas the rugby tackling objective is to force a turnover.
MrKobe2011 1 week ago
Theres no denying that football hits have a harder impact then rugby hits, thats not say rugby hits are soft by anymeans. rugby players deliver and get hit more in a game than football players. This test sought out to see which sport delivers a bigger impact and that is all, not toughness or difficulty. The nature of the game is different in both sports with different tackling rules and objectives.
MrKobe2011 1 week ago
@MrKobe2011 Rugby has more tackles than AF. However, when you factor in blocks, which account for 90%+ of AF hits, the hit totals are not even close. The average NFL game, contains as many as 1200 collisions, ranging from 30 G's to 200 G's. There are far more hits in AF.

@atnmsfts They also used a cornerback to demonstrate the hitting power of an American football player. They're the smallest players on defense. Jammer also sucks.
Rugby vs. football is still a stupid my dad could beat up your dad argument. I only watched this shit because I love pain.
Slaughterlouse 1 week ago
@atnmsfts It wouldn't matter if they used Muppets and Angry Birds to conduct this test, the results would be the same. This test is not about the athletes involved, it's about sports. Rugby is a contact sport AF is a collision sport. In AF high speed impacts, after long, full speed run ups happen constantly. AF hits can sometimes reach 200 G's of force, it's why "the worlds" auto and insurance companies use AF to study the effects of massive impacts on the brain and body.
bebomac5 1 week ago
@bebomac5 idiot.the results wouldn't be the same because the hits would be a lot bigger.
atnmsfts 1 week ago
@atnmsfts That's funny, according to this ad featuring Jamie Heaslip, and many other sources, big Rugby hits measure as high as1600lbs, same as this test.
watch?v=T41zeF9dlWs
It should be noted that the average AF hit has measured 3700lbs-4000lbs in these tests. It should also be noted that Quentin Jammer is a pretty tiny NFL player 6'0 204lb (93kg), but it doesn't matter, the nature of AF is maximum speed, maximum collisions, regardless of player size.
bebomac5 1 week ago
@bebomac5 You are talking out of your ass. Then how do you explain Ray Lewis' 2200IB hit that was also measured on this show. That's less then half of what Jammer produced. It should also be noted that both Jammer and Lewis were tackling dummies. Big rugby hits do not measure 1600Ib, that is the average force for a standard rugby tackle.Big hits would measure far greater.Even the rugby tackle in this experiment was nothing compared to what i've seen in the professional game.
atnmsfts 1 week ago
@atnmsfts And the biggest pro Rugby hits I've seen, are nothing compared to some hits I've seen in high scool AF:
watch?v=41ev5xHCX9I, warch?v=vaZYjSd4DQk. Both players moving at 100% speed.
Note the force of these other Sports science hits:
watch?v=hBNo1jj1h54 , watch?v=BqoQ3rwHZuU , watch?v=-vnf_oF9K_k
and there are more.
Again AF hits can top 200 G's on big hits, the biggest Rugby hits rarely top 70 G's.

Sorry, but it's not even close.

bebomac5 1 week ago
@bebomac5 I had a look at all those videos and they are all just mannequin tackling, cheapshots and shoulder charges on unsuspecting players. I've seen much better hits in rugby league. atnmsfts 1 week ago
@atnmsfts Just as I said, denial. Fabricated information? Please explain, and be specific.
Although blindside hits only account for a very small percentage of AF hits, they are part of the game, and arer often a part of strategy. If someone gets blindsided, it's usually their fault.
Most big hits are full speed, head on:

You think thats full speed? Really? Also, maybe I should explain what "head on" means.
Not even close!
bebomac5 1 week ago
@bebomac5 the guys i posted were running from 15 to 20yards as each play starts from 10meters apart with the ball runner starting his run from at least 5 meters behind that point. Chest bumping? Rugby League players use their shoulders. 20-50yards doesnt mean anything when players reach their full speed within 4 or 5 meters. Head on in rugby terms is exactly what they are doing. If you mean by clashing heads then no rugby players dont do that as they actually tackle.
UHtiger 1 week ago
@UHtiger More like 5 yds a piece. Top speeds are achieved 15 yards and beyond. And that's right! 20+ yds, head on, full speed, maximum impact, No fear, life treatening collision! With only the thought and objective of putting a Hole in your enemy, and not yielding 1 single inch. there is No comparison! And stats, science, injuries and deaths, back that up! "they actually tackle" Pfft! as if AF plyrs don't. Technique is different, and R technique would be massacred on a football field.
bebomac5 1 week ago
@bebomac5 "more like 5 yards a piece". Um as i clearly stated, every play in rugby league start with them being 10 meters apart. Injury and death stats back up the fact that footballers think charging head first into players is a good idea. From age 5 rugby players train to protect their heads and use their shoulders. When league players rush out of the line of defence to make those sort of tackles its not to get them to the ground, its to dominate them and make them hurt.
UHtiger 1 week ago
@bebomac5 "R technique would be massacred on a football field". Any time a footballer tackles with their shoulder, that rugby technique. The only time there is a difference is when they lead with the head (which according to what ive seen is something A. Football is cracking down on) which is also why there is such a difference in concussion rates.
UHtiger 1 week ago
@UHtiger Most concussions happen at the line of scrimmage, nothing can be done about that. The aim of AF runners, when contact is unavoidable, is to get your pad level below the tackler's, and if he fails to explode through you, punish him. The techniques needed are completely different. Although this youth training vid only covers staight ahead, 2nd level tackles for LB's, and uses this particular coaches terminologies, it's a good illustration of AF basics: watch?v=iIuemVW8RE8
bebomac5 1 week ago
@bebomac5 "with at least 3 players hospitalized with brain haemorrhaging". Yes running flat out and clashing heads while you have a large motorcycle helmet on your head is good n all. The thing is that rugby players dont have that benefit so they use their shoulders.

both arguments are weak...

@UHtiger So did many of the US track stars, so what????

@steveo2937 Elite? Most definitely. Superior? Beyond a shadow of a doubt. And whether you admt it or not, you know it!

@superbill3001 i will add he has school some rugby fans aswell he bring up some good points but yeh you won't get anywhere with this guy.

And I think you can guess who's a better tackler.
steveo2937 2 weeks ago
@steveo2937 It figures you would point out one of the 3 smallest players in the NFL, Btw, Jackson's 100 meter time is 10.3. On "every" single NCAA & NFL team there are multple players who are as fast or faster than any Rugby player who as ever existed. Bryan Habana, pfft! Do you have anyone else? The last thing you want to talk about when comparing R athletes to AF's is speed! It's not even close. Ponder the following numbers while you float in fantasy land!
bebomac5 2 weeks ago
@bebomac5 Just putting it out there, the fastest person to ever play rugby (rugby league to be exact) has a PB of 9.97 in the 100m.
UHtiger 2 weeks ago
@UHtiger Your referring to Dwain Chambers, The former British Olympic sprinter and confirmed steroid user, who got smoked by Maurice Greene (USA) in the Sydney Olympics.
The main problem with your argument is that he played in NLF Europe "before" he "trained only" for Rugby Legue for about "2 minutes". How stupid of you to bring that up.
bebomac5 2 weeks ago
@bebomac5 He played 3 matches for a semi professional team before being dropped. Still played though. Your statement was that in the nfl and ncaa there are several players in every team that are as fast or faster than anyone that has ever played was it not?
Patrick Johnson and Josh Ross from australia are sprinters that grew up playing rugby league.
UHtiger 2 weeks ago
@UHtiger Lol!!...Whatever!
bebomac5 2 weeks ago
@bebomac5 Bahahaha, finally youve got nothing to say.
UHtiger 2 weeks ago
