They had to wear sweaters because I didn't have a foal blanket small enough they wore them for a couple days, when I was able to get dog blankets that fit them.
She had no problems foaling at all, we were so happy we thought they were both healthy... and both had perfectly straight legs too, which is very uncommon. Striker will always be with us... I still cry when I watch his videos and hear is whinny... we have a memorial made for him.. he brought so many people together, he truly was a gift from god.
I wonder if they (our mare's) could be related, "Mischief" is a daughter of Maverick Major a proven son of Major Bonanza by a Leo bred mare.
Losing Striker was the hardest day of my life, I have a braide of his hair I have kept, and I think of him and watch his video often, I still cry when I hear his whinny... He is burried here and well never be forgotten he is one of the greatest gifts from god I have been blessed to receive.
Ginger the bay solid twin is doing wonderful she is being bred to colonels lone gun for a 2012 foal. They both had a rough start to life so thought it was a fitting cross, not to mention the bloodlines ;-). Striker was laid to rest due to his bones not calcifying. It was truly the hardest day of my life. He was so wonderful and such a lil charactor, I miss him a lot. I have kept a braide of his mane and I have woven it into a dream catcher. He will always be with us.
They were my kids sweaters, the foal blankets I had were to big for them, Striker was the size of a wippet, and Ginger was the size of a rotti... so she was quite a bit bigger.
Ginger is now the same size as the other two year olds and what a love bug she is.
I should mention it is very rare for horses to have twins and more often then not one has to be euthanized. We were hoping ours would be lucky and survive. We had vets throughout the Prairies, and Kentucky trying to help save Striker.
I guess god gave him to us for a short while, so we could meet many wonderful people like the many that post on their videos. Everyone person we have met has been a blessing to us, some more then others ;-).
We had to euthanize Striker the chestnut tobiano when he was 6.5 weeks old. His bones did not calcify and they could not wih stand his growing body. He is burried here and we have made a memorial plot for him. He has brought so many good people together. Donation made in his name by strangers to equine medicine. He is truly amazing. He was an angel among us....
That Stinks, Donty You Always Think To Yourself I Wish The Other One Past So The Paint One Could Live Its Life But If That Happened You Would Think The Other Way Around, The Paint Foal At 0:07 - 0:09 it did look alittle trouble walking but atleased u know he went to heaven cause he couldent have went down he dident have much of a life to be a bad foal RIP little one im sorry for you wonderful loss ): guess that foal was to special to live any longer god wanted her back it wasent time :I RIP
How are they doing? It´s incredible that they are so similar in size. Usually one is so much smaller. Love the imaginative thinking - jerseys for rugs - my kind of recycling!
I have had horses for over 30 years. I know for a fact that if they shared the same horn in the womb they would not have made it at all mom would have aborted. one was most likley in the right and the other in the left horn. That is the way that my mare carried her twins
You should leave the ratings open. I was going to give you 5 stars. They both look healthy and happy. Congratulations! And so CUTE in their little horse jammies. LOL!
sooo cute. are both of them doing ok still? i know its a real feat to save both foals when there are two- the mom accepted both? well, i hope it went well, they are both so precious
This is truly a mircale...Honey was going to give birth to foals but unexpectadly she gave birth way to early and the foals ended up passing away they were way to young to come out of the womb.. Good luck with them, you should keep them together forever they look sooo cute and congratulations on new foals
We actually had my daughters sweater on the bay solid filly and on Striker he was wearing my son's sweater. You can get creative when your in a pickle..haha. They are both the pull on type, with strikers, we had to tie the bottom front to the top of the front so when he peed it wouldn't get wet.
We cut the sweaters off three days later, when I was able to buy them their dog jackets, Strikers was size 20" and Gingers was 26". Size of a whipit and rottie.
Yup daddy is a paint. This mare is a wonderful mare, to work with. She aborted the only black based tobiano we have ever received from that stallion, other wise he only throws black based solids and red based tobianos... at least he has a pattern..haha
I LOVE THE SWEATSHIRTS EVERONE ITS NOT DOIGN ANUYTHING TO THE FOALS SOO...JUST SHHH

@KB1PTH They can, and it's not exactly common. Though, usually one of the foals die. It's not likely that both survive.
