  • Great piece of music Todd, I had to quit piano as I was rubbish at chord inversions. Congrats on the book also, didn't know you had written one I'll be sure to grab a copy.

    Thanks!

    Thanks again!

Note: it's only available in online bookstores: BookLocker (my publisher) or amazon, barnesandnobleDOTcom, etc. (And if you want to get a used copy, make sure it's the 2010 edition, b/c it's much better than the 2006 or 2008 editions, thanks to lots of YouTube viewer feedback.)

  • sounds great!!! yes though our versions are both piano, they are so different, your cover is much more complicated and intense though :)

    i really like it.

    Thank you!

I think your version works well too though, b/c your piano arrangement plays the role of supporting your vocals. But for me, I had to come up with an arrangement that makes up for the fact that I can't sing!

  • @ToddGates well it works really well!

  • Merry Xmas to me AWESOME cover...do you have sheet music for this?

  • @FreeThinkingCrusader

    > AWESOME cover

    Thanks!

    > do you have sheet music for this?

No, unfortunately there's none -- it's just my own arrangement.

  • Changing the instrument and arrangement in this case radically changes the emotive feel of the piece. It makes it sweeter and mutes the angst (mostly present in the singer's voice).

Agreed--but I think some of the eeriness and depressive nature still comes through. But it's more of a reflective & quiet depression than a "I'm ready to shoot myself in the head (or shoot my girlfriend)" kind of depression.

  • Nice! Cool song to cover.

It's got such a strong melody that I think it still holds up even on solo piano.
