I think imma died of cuteness... ;) I was just wondering at what age or length when they start spawning. and how can you tell which is female or male (the adult) cause I have 4 big one at home. and at what season or most month when the spawn... ;) it would be grateful to hear back from you...
Moving my fry to a 30lt tank tomorrow, they are five weeks old, there will only be 4 inches off water in their but I can fit a heater in that tank to keep them warm and they are in my kitchen under a light all day so as to keep them warm.
@braska19 Bring the water up to 5" or 6". When you do water changes, use a plastic spoon to scoop them into a temporary holding tank or bowl with dechlorinated water. This way, you can remove old contaminated water without stressing the babies. Turbulence from downpouring water can injure fry.
I'm moving my 5 week old fry to s 30ltr tanak tomorrow. Ut with only 4 in he's off water and they are in the kitchen under a light all day until night mr and they HATE having the light off!!!
@braska19 Genetics is one factor. The parent fish grew to 12" in length. But also, its important to provide enough nutrition and clean water. In the first 6-8wks they are gutloaded with copepods, live brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms, new life spectrum formula & decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. They were fed upto 8x a day. Daily 100% water changes ensured rotting food and waste does not contaminate their tank. And don't forget to install Full Spectrum Lighting.
How deep do you think the water can be for a3 week old baby....I got them in 5 inches at the moment but want to transfer them Into a clear seal 30 ltd tank so I can put a neater I. Their and one off those sponge filters.
Dude did u get any twin tails? In addition to this i would like to know if it is normal to get multiple twin tailed fry from parents who are single tailed?
@SwiftJustice1 Yes most of them were double-tailed because the parent fish were double tailed. There was just 2 that were single tailed. If your fish was a single tail and had a few double-tail offspring, it could be genetic mutation - I'm not sure.
