Works nicely. I liked the camo and everything. I take my 22. bolt action rifle to the police shooting range where everyone is using 9mm and 30-6 rounds. The 22. rifle long rounds I use are like toys compared to the other bullets people there use. :D

True the propellant load does have an influence as well. If they didn't work why are they illegal to own privately in most US States? I don't have a rifle that doesn't have one fitted.

Most states do allow them. I think were up to 40 out of 50 now states that allow silencer ownership. Spring loaded baffles a WAY old school technology though. Much better performance can be had in a 22 can through a well designed fixed K or Omega style baffles such as the gemtech outback 2 or SWR warlock both of which I own and both are ridiculously quiet.

"Suppressor" is a term that doesnt reflect what the body that governs silencer manufacture refers to them as. The ATF calls the Silencers

Suppressors DO NOT SILENCE GUNS. Not everything you see in movies and video games is true! Yes they make guns quieter but just the sound of racking most automatic weapons is more than most people seem to think a "silenced" gun should sound like. Suppressors are mainly for getting rid of muzzle flash. If you shoot a suppressed gun with any kind of real ammo, people will still hear it.

Regular 22 lr ammunition IS subsonic (out of a rifle length barrel). FOr use with suppressors, you buy subsonic 22 lr, which use heavier bullets. Only a very few suppressors slow a bullet down, most just stop them from accelerating once they leave the barrel. Regular 22 lr is however subsonic out of a small pistol barrel, usually.

Regular 9X19 is supersonic and faster than regular 22 lr, but again you need to purchase special subsonic ammos for EFFECTIVE use with suppressors.

Also, dont forget that a suppresor still does it's job with supersonic rounds: it reduces the bang of the powder and gases, but doesn't stop the whizz of a supersonic bullet.

Rowdy, subsonic means the projectile is traveling below the speed of sound. You're right about the suppressor being unable to fully quiet the sound, but if you are using subsonic rounds in a bolt action rifle, you can get it hollywood quiet. That is, you just here the firing pin and the projectile strike. Using supersonic rounds in same rifle with suppressor doesn't do shit to the noise.
