@alan8653 What the hell do you mean "originally by Bongwater?" That's by Roky Erickson, and the guy who starts it out, I think, is none other than Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
Wow, Bongwater is fast becoming a favorite of mine! This cover of the Roky Erickson song is what got me hooked. Originally from Where the Pyramid meets the Eye Roky erickson tribut LP.
Buy it if you can..
This song is so beautiful I get misty eyed, and I'm a dude that also likes harder stuff like Black Flag andTool
Weir moves around sitting there and moves his head around looking exactly like he does right before Mountains of the Moon in the Playboy After Dark segment. Also I like the Four Sticks sampling.
Thanks for posting! Anyone else remember The Pussywillows? They were a really fun group in the early 90's in NYC, and played gigs at the CBGB and other small clubs. Mostly they did covers of early 60's retro (Lulu and The Mindbenders)and had some excellent harmonies. Good to see them again!
yup, I got to produce an unreleased session with them. Will Rigby from The dB's on drums, Ward Dotson from the Gun Club on guitar, Spike Priggin on bass, the future April March on vocals...even recorded a song written for them by the Young Fresh Fellows. Sweet to see this.
@cmickd I remember the pussywillows. I loved their album at the time, particularly their cover of "Baby, Baby I Still Love You" I never got see them live. It's amazing to see them on youtube.

I'll tell ya what Bobby wuz thinkin'.."Wow, she's so hot, and I'm playin' a kick-ass RoKy Erickson tune, and, woow, psych-ay-dellic!Just lahk in th' sixties!"-Really, a totally killer and smart performance;too bad it went o'er yer over-banged head, doooood...
Excellent performance. If I weren't so technically illiterate, I'd post the Vulcan Death Grip clip from my VHS copy of Ann's VANDEMONIUM. Maybe someday...

Yes, that is Screamin' Jay Hawkins. I saw this when it first aired and have been looking for it ever since. One of the most surreal musical performances in the history of TV. Now I just need to find that clip of Fishbone on The Tonight Show back in 1986 or so.
What year is this?
Is it the early 90s. If so I have a very good reason for not getting into this. I was 12 and loved Thundercats!
Now I love this and I love Thundercats!
