  • why doesn't anyone sing like this anymore? is it that it wont survive mainstream sheep music? this is the music of my parents' childhood but i think it needs to come back.

  • love this!

  • @laykaljos ,Read your review also...May Jim RIP...I was Army 1966-1969...The last 5 years been a gift. I'm Agent Orange from those good and bad years...Use to play this song on the juke box at the commissary px...Miss those 45's...will be 65 in October Good Lord Willing...

  • @rextrek i was minus 25

  • when men were men, and music was music. will never see that again.

  • @SuperKarend When men were men and they sang like girls.

  • Sorry to say that this is one of those GREAT songs of the sixty's that you don't hear on the oldie stations, at least not around here. ( central Illinois )

  • @thesanitycruzer

Oh yeah!. Lightning Strikes is of its time, but will never age.

    It sing about us.

  • Lou is amazing. Lightning strikes, two faces have I, and gypsy cried. my favorites

  • I remember 45 RPM records, but only had a few, 33.3 vinyl, then 8 tracks to cassette to cd's, mp3's what's next. I guess I will buy anything

  • what is this song about

  • Wow, I'm lucky I grew up in the 50s and 60s. In 1955 I was 13. By the time it was 1960 ...wow again, the "sweet spot" of the oldies. Rockin' in the late 50s...then party time time in the US Army during the early 60s (well sometimes). All I can say as most of you posters who lived in those times, never again will there be true Rock & Roll and Doo Wop. This song and Lou were an example of the times.

  • @zeke1312

You take the words right outa my mouth.

In my humble, selfish opinion, You, as I, whatever our circumstance, lived the best of times.

WW11 ended five years before my Brother and I (twins) were born - August 6th, 1950, (yes, we are very aware of that date)..

After WW11, for many, Australia was the land of milk and honey, hard work, good pay, spartan living conditions, sounds, tastes, culture's.

    MUSIC.

I STILL, hear, enjoy, and learn.

    'Their legacy'.

  • im only 34 but igrew up on oldeis and its my fav music puro juaritoz!!!!!!!!!!

  • KOMA out of OKC , thanks for the summers

  • @jojodot 50k watts of power comin' at you every hour...I could pick it up in mexico city

  • Happy Birthday Lou

  • saw him 2 years ago he stole the show

  • Rip the audio from this clip at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • Lou Christie, an imitator of Frankie Valli? Surely you jest. Valli couldn't carry Christie's jock strap.

  • Never let this musci die or the good memeories,,,, keep them in your heart and thanks for sharing HAPPY 2011

  • Frankie Valli was great at going from Natural Tenor to Falsetto but Lou Christie seemed to have greater range since he could go from baritone to falsetto.

  • @WytZox1

    I agree.

I heard Lou in an interview once say that for some reason when he matured and his voice changed he never lost the ability to sing in his high voice.

  • Donna Reed's hair is priceless.

  • Awesome song i was 5yrs old when this song came out and i remember these songs from the day which is wierd.....frankie was good too...but i think this guy was just a little better....we will never see the innocents of that time again...dam it *sniff*

  • Was that Patty Duke in :34??

I never knew who sang this one. I'm glad I know because I thought it was Frankie Valle & the 4 Seasons.

  • @imweezel411 Yes, that is Patty Duke

  • love the music of that era...HATE the so-called music (trash) nowadays....give me the 50's, 60's anyday!...real cars, real fashion, real music :)

  • I've always liked this song.

  • Nice little media show with this great song.

Love the Healey! And Hailey! I had a crush on both.

    Check out my channel!

  • i loved this song when i was a teen

  • Such memories - Love it - Thank You

  • How about a little walk down memory lane??

  • Donna Reed was gorgeous. Just the perfect iconic symbol of how good things could be, and almost were, back in 1963. I feel like that year was the apex of American life. Ever since then, the slippery slope took over.

    I long for those years.

I will just have to wait for heaven.

  • love it !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I never get tired of listening to this tune.

It opens up my brain memory to good times past.

  • love this song. heard it 3 years ago, never knew who sang it till now. thank you, love ya jay

  • Me and Jim Przybylski, drunk as skunks at a bar on the Square in Stevens Point; standing at the jukebox, singing falsetto with Lou Christie on this song as loud as we could. We got a round of applause from all the other drunks at the bar, and a request to do it again! I guess we must have hit most of the notes! :)

  • GOD! THIS IS MUSIOC! NOT RAP OR HIP HOP! 70's 80's 60's WERE THE TIME!

  • This song and Sherry are both 1962.

  • @ladbrady hi i think youll find two faces have i came out in july 1963. it was my favourite song then and was a huge hit in australia. cheers from oz.

  • Will I ever laugh again

    She'll never see me cry

    but im blue

i pretend that im happy since i lost you

.....i really wanted to be with u....

....u have no idea how much i love you...

    ='(

  • Not many people know that this is the song Lou Christie performed for his final performance before his Prof. at Jullard --They must hae liked it --He has a degree from Jullard in Vocal Performance!!!!

  • My fave song back in May 1963, with Ruby and the Romantics' "Our Day Will Come" a close second.

  • keep coming back for this

  • an amazing voice

  • So funny, when I was a kid, I thought this was two people singing!

  • its ok

  • Two faces at least Yumi!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always liked his falsetto renditions.

  • Nobody sang like this then-Lou was cutting edge

  • Really?

What about Frankie Valli ? He and the Four Seasons hit the charts much earlier than Lou Christie with a similar vocal style. Not taking anything away from Lou Christie, but I contend that his falsetto probably wouldn't have been that well received by the record companies had it not been fro Frankie Valli setting the benchmark to be copied.

  • @MJLatora

The Four Seasons did produce a bundle of hits compared to Lou but not even "Rag Doll" is quite as good as this song.

  • check out the Ol'55 version of this...its excellent!

  • man, i had a '63 falcon futura convertible. that car helped get me laid early in life but, i wasn't listening to this kind of music. ha! it sounds cooler to me. now.

  • pinheadq41, don't forget "pegged' jeans and gasoline @ $.25 per gallon.

  • everyone cruised and it wasn't even illegal..oh for my 64 Chevy and a hot summer night

  • @fijidawg Gasoline @$.25 a gallon??? As I recall we used to pay $0.13 a gallon in 1963; only suckers and tourists paid over $20 a gallon...

  • @CarlStreet I didn't say anything about $20 a gallon gas you fat prick. Don't bother responding, tourist/sucker.

  • He obviously lives somewhere in Frisco..

  • These were the days of hot rod Chevy's, bee hives, and car hops. Drag racing, under age drinking and drive in movies. D A hair cuts and white tee shirts. If you dont know or understand some of these, you are probably a lot young than me, but they were my good old days.

    pin

  • D A hair cuts-that rings a bell with me. Thanks!

  • My Mom sat at the kitchen table and did the rollers in her hair listening to stuff like this, what memories!

  • it's great to hear this song again after over 20yrs, I was about 10 the last time I heard it, before we lost the record. I love it, brings back great memories.

  • Takes me back to the summer of '63 -- bunch of friends and I spent most of that summer tearing around in an oldsmobile convertible chasing girls and generally making a nuisance of ourselves -- it was GREAT!

  • Awesome...This and "The Gypsy Cried"...classics!

  • Don't know how many of you were around in 1963...If you were cool, you did not tell any of your friends that you had this 45....Enjoy!...TF

  • 47---have never heard that theory. One has to say "boo" to it. It was 1963's best song and those back-up vocals were fabulous, too.

    5 star vid.

  • LOL. There were a bunch of songs I liked that I'd never dream of telling anybody, many of which are classics today.

  • omg its a hippie song

  • no way, this pre-dates hippies by 4 or 5 years.

  • Thanks man, this other cat tells us that it was 1963s best song...Not so sure what that means....With the Beach Boys...The Four Seasons, motown and the Beatles to contend with....Perhaps he is talking about 1963 on another planet. I did however enjoy this song...Then and now...I just did it alone...TF

  • My first concert ever was Lou Christie and Del Shannon at the Ford Fieldhouse in Gand Rapids,Mi. It was 1983. I was 6 years old . Remember him singing this.

  • Psychedelic calliope music in Jamaica with a mad falsetto vocalist.

  • this is not reggae? It is the result of a severe bicycle accident

  • No, underpants about 6 sizes too small!!!

  • Always a favorite of mine, saw Lou on a PBS Special and he looks and sounds almost as good as he did back then. He can really get the audience pumping as they wait for him to hit the high notes.

  • More Like Frankie Valli.

  • Another favorite of mine, can never get enough of this music.

  • Reggae? You mean doowop.

  • They probably meant reggae; a lot of the early reggae records sounded an lot like this (without the falsetto). I understand that he wasn't intending to make it sound like reggae (if the term even existed at that time), or even Jamaican, but somehow that sound bled over in one direction or the other. Maybe this song got a lot of airplay in Jamaica.

  • Dang am I glad I grew up when cars were fast and hot. Music like this was everywhere...sigh bring back the 60's

  • @laykaljos I loved hearing this & in the same note it was depressing. When you can remember riding in your Dad's 58 chevy and hearing this on the radio when it was hit , it just reminds us how old we are. yes bring back the 60's , bring back everything but the war , then my cousin Jim would still be with us.

  • One of the greatest reggie sounds in the world its make me happy!

    Doc Bohsse from Sweden

  • nunca la habia escuchado en Ingle. y en español la cantan Las cuatro Monedas...

    Mil gracias(thank you)

  • Brilliant memories - thanks ... cathy xxx

  • wow! this is kinda reggay beat! Wasn´t it

    originated in Jamaica!

  • Excellent early 1960's hit song!!

  • Great post, awesome memories. Thank you for posting

  • I remember practicing that falsetto in school at recess. Can't do it today, everyone is too homophobic!

  • Lou Christie can't do it quite that

    high anymore either.

  • i have always liked this song

  • Probably Lous best tune ever

  • never thought frankie n lou had anything in common, just both great entertainers!!! saw lou a few weeks ago, still hits those hi piched sounds, go lou BRAVO!!!

  • the secret is in their underwear...its way too tight

  • Wow! sounds a lot like Frankie

  • I want the 60's back!!!

  • oh yeah, thatb would be y time too

  • me too ;-))

  • OOOoooooh.... yi...yi yi yi ...this is awesome! Thanks for post! 5*****!

  • Whose voice has more range; Lou Christie or Frankie Valli?

  • oak:Whose voice has more range; Lou Christie or Frankie Valli

Christie was frequently written off by critics as an "imitator" of Frankie Valli, as both men possessed VERY similar falsetto vocals, and the ability to change almost effortlessly between it and their normal registers.

  • Thanks. There's a rumor that Christie once won some sort of national singing contest. Know anything of this?

  • @sueezee Frankie, I believe, could get higher in pitch, but IMHO his natural voice was no match for Lou's.

  • @sueezee I don't think the two should be compared, they're two very different singers with different talent sets. It's like comparing blueberry pie and apple pie, they're very different but both an absolute treat.

  • wow...did music really change once the Beatles hit hard in 1964

  • Lou will always have it. The voice, body, movements, looks. Man what a HUNK..Love Ya Lou

  • oH MMY DOG WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SONG, WHAT lOU UP TO IN 2008 probably retirement.

  • just saw him tonite he still got it!!!still can carry a tune!!

  • Recuerdas cuando tambien te cantaba esta cancion mi amor.

  • te adoro eres mi super amor no sabes lo que senti te amo te amo te amo aure

  • I wonder if Frankie Valli ever sent Lou a bill.

  • i never knew he was the same guy singing this

song, until i saw him on american bandstand.

OK, i was only a kid.

  • I always loved this tune. It was etched into my memories for years afterwards. I remember 1963 as one of the best years ever. I was just a grammar school kid, but never forgot this ultra-strong falsetto of fun.

  • good tune, very 50's!

  • Love that sound!!

  • man i love you tube!i swear you punch in any song, most of the time it will pop up.

  • "Handyman" was definitely a Jimmy Jones hit, although Lou did cover a lot of hit tunes such as "Stay" and "Tears On My Pillow" among many others, but I don't recall him ever covering "Handyman".

  • oh god the last time i heard this song

it was 1968 i was 12 years old

i thought it was a girl singing

    Thank you so very much

  • I LIKE IT!

  • Que bella boz, gracias ,un espacio al tiempo

gracias por recordar.un homenaje al al musica. gracias

  • i had this "45 as a kid and haven't heard this song in over 25 years and looking back i always thought it was a girl singing till today LOL.. good post

  • Anyone here remember 1963 or ever lived in that time period?

  • I graduated Ensley High School in 1963.

  • Great song by a great singer and he is still fantastic as shown by his newest recording honoring his italian heritage. Bellissimo!

  • Wow! I found this song at last. You wouldn't happen to have the song Handyman also by Lou Christie would you? I'd love to hear that song again. I get a kick out of the dancing stick figures. They're so cute. Thank you so very much for this video. By the way, the cars are hot! :)

  • I think "Handyman" was by Jimmy Jones, not Lou. Great song,I agree. James Taylor did a pretty good cover in the seventies, too.

  • thanks....yeah, the bald guy is me a few years ago I shaved my head.

  • Mike 1964

Going to see Connie Francis end of Jan in Ca. Will update you.

  • sounds great...keep me posted

  • Great video. Those figure dancing kill me. Whis the bald guy? is that you. Donna Reed is was a beauty...

  • Great song, though I prefer Rockpile Jones from OL'55's version..

  • 'Two Faces Have I' is a GREAT song, I remember it well on the radio, AM radio! Lou Christie is cool and rocks! David class of '68!

  • Donna Reed, fond memories, great video.

    Mike 67

  • Simply stunning!!! - It is a extraordinary video-collage of 60's living! - Two Faces Have I is the best song ever published by an artist named LOU CHRISTIE and still a hit! - I had heard it the first time in a 1973 K-Tel ad for a compilation album (vinyl) named "JUKEBOX JIVE" a 22 (or more) hits album. It has a jukebox shaped sleeve and it was probably one of the best albums from K-Tel!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • Great video, I miss the 60's. God they were special. videos like these take me back(even if it's for a few minutes).

    Class of 67---Mike

  • Mike, if you find that time machine back to the 60's, I'll go with ya!

    Marilyn

    (Class of 73)

  • Im looking, the best I can do is see any 50 or 60's group that visits the Reno oe Tahoe area. Thank you for the comment.

    Mike

    Retired F.F.

  • love it

  • Another talent from the music capitol of the world, Pittsburgh PA... Sonny, Penn Hills, PA

  • Lugee Alfredo Giovanni sacco (real name) wrote his owm music along with good looks and a voice that had great range. I vote yes, for hall of fame

  • I find that the old songs from 1950s/60s/70s Top 40

stick in my mind but today's pop music sound (what is

pop music today anyway? Heavy Metal? Rap? The static

between radio stations?) melts away like so much

cotton candy and is about as norishing!

  • I'm Going to see Lou Christie.

  • Did you see him? and do you know if he is signing in Italy?

  • Yes, I did see him in Cincinnati in the late 1960's! He did a Fab concert there, it was sold out! I think about 9,000 people were there, and the concert lasted about 2 and 1/2 hours! Pure Rock 'n Roll!!!!! Lou Christie is GREAT!!!!! He was rockin' then, and still rocks!

    David

  • your a luck guy...

  • Hi David. I was there in 60ies. Saw Lou at David Clark show in 1963. My next door neighbour was his secretary. He was the best to me and always will be. DemiXXX

  • what is "signing" mean?

  • I meant to say singing. He is considering singing a song in Italy soon, according to his website. LOU BELONGS IN THE HALL OF FAME...

  • Blink..I agree. He was my "all time fav" in the sixties.

  • This song brought tears to my eyes....missing those days that I lived through I guess. Thanks for posting the video/audio.

  • Does Lou Christie deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I say yes.

  • yup today is music is a bunch of crap 32 here love that music wish ii would have lived that era mine was the 90s it was ok better then todays crap piece.

  • You're not crazy....you have great taste in music!

  • YAY!!! I love this song!! I sing it with my Dad all the time!! I'm only 17 but I love the songs from that time!! They maybe shorter then the stuff today but they mean so much more then the stuff of today's music. Alot of the songs today sound alike, or am I crazy?

  • They did mean alot, and you are not crazy dear.

  • What a great comment coming from a 17 year old, your dad should be proud of you. Now your job is to keep this music alive until you become a senior.

  • Same here! Why is it I can still remember so much of the 60's, but not a lot of the 70's?

  • Great song and the original singing is just wonderful I can close my eyes and I'm back in the 60's.
