They were born in the wild, to feral mothers, I did do the TNR thing for them after finding an organization that handled providing traps and advice about how to do it for an entire colony. 14 cats trapped and ready for their trip to the vet, all in one night. it was rough on them and on me... but it was done. No more hunting for food, no more fighting over scents within the group. 14 TRAPS - 14 CATS - recovering inside my house... in their traps. NO sound from any of them, these were not pets.
They each have a slight clip to an ear to identify them to animal control (if they were captured by animal control, they would immediately be put to sleep as feral cats cannot easily be tamed and are not good candidates for adoption - the ear-tipping is done because they cannot wear collars safely).
I did not cut tails. Some have NO tail, some have a partial tail, and two had full tails. No worries... no tails were harmed. LOL
Yes, if animal control should try to catch one, they would immediately know by the tipping that they have a caretaker and are being looked after. That notch would save their lives. Shelters kill wild cats almost immediately because they can't easily be adopted by the general public, it takes a lot of effort to acclimate one to a new environment and about half the time it doesn't work. They are wild animals who have spent their entire lives outdoors with very little human contact.
rockos story:when i went to school i said goodbye to rocko then when i came back home he wasen't there than i looked on his blanket then behind the tv then on the kitty litter box.
then i called...ROCKO?
my dad said when you went to school he died!
i cried soooooooooooo much that i got his food and burried it in the back yard!
GBU for taking care of these cats.. Have they gotten to trust you yet? I mean let you pet them. They are gorgeous cats I'm glad they have someone like you to take care of them so thank-you from all furbabies around the world
Yes, I can pet them, just not all the time. They are very skittish but will sometimes come up to me on their own, and will meow softly and offer me their heads, sometimes they scare themselves by doing this and run away, sometimes I am allowed to touch, it just depends on how scared they feel that day. Bounce is almost completely tame, he comes into the house all the time but he is not happy indoors and wants out once he is done looking around.

so, they have those marks in their ears for what? So that they would be released if captured?

They're so cute. The bobtails are amazing, aren't they? I feed one who has no tail, too.
