  • wasm your front coupling the the mail coach bent up

  • you could do the codename strike force Hornby Sets

  • how do you know that this is a railroad model? does it say somewhere on it? i struggle to tell the difference sometimes

  • @ludlowish You can tell, when you buy the same loco in a box labelled 'Railroad'.

  • hey will I love Ur vids. Could you get a live steam oo model and review that?

  • Does anybody know where I can get Hornby Train Sets. I live in America.

  • @InterCity82- There is no earth because the adaptor and controller are plastic!! :)

  • @InterCity82- As you siad about the new DC controller being worse than the old one I totally agree with you. My controller I got with the Hornby 'Blue Highlander' set is really rubbish. It keeps cutting out and the whole layout stoppes. It's really annoying. Grrrr. P.S- is there anything you could reccomend for me to fix it?

  • My grandad has that 'auto-collecting' mail coach. He got it with that set, but he sold the engine and other coach for much needed repairs to his layout. I really miss that loco. It was his only 0-6-0. :(

  • How about Bob and Jeff or even Bob Junior and Jeff Jefferson the Third

  • pleace i need to know because i am gowing to bey one today

  • how much was it

  • how about ben and buster

  • my girlfiend bought me this set for christmas, i cant wait for my day off, thanx for this video.

  • i just got his for xmas but have to send it back due to the stuff dosent work proberly so geting a new one again and geting the springs proberly but an expert

  • i just got this set for christmas along with expansion packs a and b

  • Thats cool and the only track mat ive got is a massive war seen lol

  • I think you should call the two guys at 6:13 Phil and Fred. Those sound like good steam engine dude names to me.

  • Finally someone on YouTube who's British like me (no a fence ) I love Hormby and I think you are or sum

  • i agree the new controlers are horrible i had one and it broke so now i can not run my trains

  • how much is it

  • I'm starting my first channel and it would realy help if featured it to get it off it's feet pls

  • pls can u do a review on the codename strikeforce hornby set as im getting it for christmas

  • You can buy screw in NEM sockets for those locos

  • Comment removed

  • the sell the transformer with the correct plugs for the country... such as me in New Zealand!

  • those coaches, are they in the style of a BR mk1?

  • I like this as it has a LMS Tank which seem to be hard to find as cheap rtr

  • 21:56 Hehe, that's what she said.

Nah, I kid, you make great reviews.

  • hey, you know how you said you usually throw trakmats away well u PM me a price and ill buy em off ya unless you will give em away as freebies to me

  • @bubbachub211 - I do keep some, but the rest I have already recycled - sorry.

  • @InterCity82 no problem! i dont care i was just wonderin

keep up the good work i <3 the videos i recommended them to heapz of people i know ima sub and like

  • still beyond me why the jinty was put in this set a Black 5 at least really for this but of course anyone familliar with the night mail film would agree that a un rebuilt Royal Scot would b the one to have :)

  • @Lancaster630 - the Jinty is a relatively inexpensive model, where as a Black 5 would up the price of the set to over £100 possibly. So I think they have put the Jinty in to keep the set price under £100 and it's clearly aimed at 'younger modellers'.

  • @InterCity82 I do see your point :) I think most of my thoughts come from seeing the last issue of this set which had a Princess Royal in it obv as you say that esp would push the set over £100 it was a long time ago when they did the PR version :) would still be intereasted in this set for the mail drop bit for a layout for the future I have mad a rake of TPO coaches purely from 2nd hand items got them all working again just need the actual pick up and drop off points :)

  • @Lancaster630 - oh wow! I'd love to see that. Keep me posted! haha <<posted. Get it? awful, I know.

  • u can buy the mail car separately for about 20 pounds in the railroad range

  • jonny n freddy

  • name for those people can be bob and bobby

  • nice detail on the loco nice vid

  • 42:43 SECONDS

  • im getting that for xmas hopefully

  • Comment removed

  • Cool

  • @InterCity82 You should do a Video This long for the Pendolino.

  • When Is The Other Layout Finished And What Time Do U Plan To Set It In

  • @BluGuyMo - further details of the new layout will be coming up later in Series 3 (which we're in now).

  • @InterCity82 will the new layout the scaledale grass stuff and buildings and that kind of thing?

  • @critic188 - do you mean will the new layout have scaledale grass and buildings? Yes, the proper layout will have all those things eventually. At the moment it's still a mass of wood and wiring :)

  • this is a good train set i love it

  • this is a cool train set by hornby

  • l love hornby trains but this is a lovely train set

  • Not being rude or anything have u ever considered of a board to put your track on ?!?!?

  • @Devildude899 - watch layout updates on my channel and you will learn this is only a temp layout and a new one is being constructed on baseboards.

  • EPIC : )

  • It's nice to see reviews from the kind of person who focuses on what matters rather than rivet counting :)

  • is she dcc ready?

  • @HobbyFiend - not as far as I know.

  • bob and steve

  • stop the trains to do it

  • i am selling my train set do you want it????

  • @SuperHayden1998 - I'm not sure what you mean?

  • Great review. Glad to see wee had similar problems setting it up. Fun to run though!

  • @thefunguy18 - The Midnight Freight

  • @intercity82 -would you recommend this set for kids??? My younger brother and I are going to build a trakmat layout in the coming future?

    kind regards TheJavelin2000

  • @123zanker - I'd definitely recommend this set for kids.

  • Call the people Will and Craig, owners of the Crewe branchlines! :)

  • great video cant wait for the new videos to come out

  • hi i after a set to start the hobby should i go anarlog or didgetel thanks

  • @CHELSEANOFAN1 - About £60 I think

  • im only 10 but im thinking of getting into the train set stuff

  • @marmadukek9 Im 12 and im getting the DCC Set for Christmas as IC82 Knows;)

  • nigel and nick

  • names bill bob

  • I have always loved the jinty locomotives

  • lol The two guys should be Bill and Ben 'The Steam-Engine Men'

  • 100% superb i saw this set yesterday in my local department store

  • You have to do more of these because they are amazing

  • that controller looks weak.....

  • What Camera do you use?

  • @BritishRail1 - I use a Sony DCR-HC62

  • of all your reviews this is the best.

  • This is the Night Mail crossing the border,

Bringing the cheque and the postal order,

Letters for the rich, letters for the poor,

The shop at the corner and the girl next door.

Pulling up Beattock, a steady climb:

The gradient's against her, but she's on time.

  • @kopiteman - LOVE IT! :)

  • @InterCity82 - lol thanks

  • it looks really cool but i think i would not use those clips i would just buy the train because it was soo fiddley and took soo long to setup just for that little drop off thing (ok it was quite cool) but i dont think it is worth all the hassle just for a little thing. if hornby already gave you the track with every thing on and solved the problem with the spring being high then it would definitely be worth it but the train looks absouloubtley beautiful.

  • i agree i hate the new controllers because i tried it on my set and it did not work well i had to keep pushing the train and it kept stopping but then i put the old controller on and it works 100 times better

  • @conor5643 - such a video will be coming up :)

  • good vid, will you be use the train set now or still the conservatory?

I have a mail coach and mail apparatus, hears a tip if you have peco track the TPO is designed for hornby track and won't perfectly fit the track so you will have to screw it on

  • @ShaurntheSheep - Thanks for the comment! I'm currently using the new conservatory layout which no one has seen yet and the new layout is still under construction. Thanks for the tip too!

  • The reason the jinty dosent have sprung buffer's or NEM copouling pockets is because it IS from the railroad range.

  • Nice shoes

  • @jackontheweb - lol thanx

  • Name them Ted and Phil

  • will i dread to think what would have hapend if the mail was full of bone china oh and by the way nice legs will XD

  • @brushtraction - LOL thanks

  • can you please do a layout update on your temporary layout and your new layout

  • @hornbymanzpc - I'll do a layout update soon but I have other vids people are waiting for first.

  • hey! love ur vids, have u got a flyingscotsman, they are great ,by the way is the night mail set any good on a large layout, like massive cus i might get 1 if they are so yee thanks !!!!!!!!

  • @zakyboi123 - thanks for the comment. I don't have the Flying Scotsman nor do I plan to get it. As for the Night Mail set, it can happily run and perform as it should on a layout of any size.

  • @InterCity82 ah, ive got a big layout and i thought maybe the jinty would loose power cus its quite small

  • is this a new release? if it is how much is it?

  • @TheSupersonicmadness - this is new for 2011 and costs between £50 and £80 depending on where you shop around.

  • @InterCity82 ok thanks for the reply

  • Silly niggle but I think the reason there's no "The" at the beginning of the title on the box is because it's a tribute to the old film with W.H. Auden's poem in it.

    A classic! :)

  • @Rushynet - not sure, because if you look at images of it on the Net using Google Image Search for instance, quite a few of those images do have 'The' on the box.... plus the loco is a different number.

  • i remember the intercity version of this hornby brought out years ago, i have the GWR & LMS TPO though, they can be quite fiddly to set up, but are great fun, i won a bid on ebay recently for a hornby railroad 0-6-0 jinty in blue, cracking little beauty!, you can get some great bargins on ebay as you know, btw its.... er BALLAST! not graval! lol

  • Great video! I really like your style mate!

  • Youuuu have amazing style!!! I love your shoes. but anyway, reeeaaaaallllly good review! goodness know how long it took to edit. Oh by the way, is it the same Jinty from the railroad range? cause people are always comparing it to Bachmann's which is apparently superior, detail-wise. anyway, I LOVE THIS REVIEW! KEEP IT UP!!!

  • @hornbytrainsets - LOL! What is it with the trainers?! You're like the 5th person to commend on them. It took over 6 hours to record, over 6 hours to edit, 5 hours to encode and 8 hours to upload! The Jinty is a budget model by Hornby and not to be compared with any other from any other make really as no one else does a budget model - yes it is the Railroad one.

  • @InterCity82 Hahaha just LOOK AT THEM! plus, blue is my favourite colour. So you had a million takes per shot, although i understand the editing and uploading. especially editing. how long was all the footage in the first place? Oh. Yeah i thought so. I like it though. It looks really tough. but anyway, im seriously in love with this review. Have you thought about Hornby's 4vep? (prolly not. its brand new and quite expensive.)

  • @hornbytrainsets - just look at what???

  • @InterCity82 the trainers.

  • @hornbytrainsets - oh lol yeah I guess u can't miss them :)

  • You should try out the hornby class 395 javelin bullet train i've heared it is really good.

By the way i think your videos are extremely helpful and fun to watch

  • @M9Guy - thanks for the comment! The Javelin is nice but it runs in completely the opposite corner of the country to me and so I won't be getting one anytime soon. Sorry :)

  • He has a head!!! lol

  • @modelmovieproduction - haha yup! You've seen me now :)

  • how do you get to upload a 40 minute video?

  • @EastCoastHST1 - I just did lol

  • @InterCity82 No fair, they said that to me and i uploaded a 20 min vid and it said sorry its too long, but you can still upload videos longer than 10 mins but not 2 hours, and im like, well make your mind up to youtube

  • One quick question. What do you put on a hornby express point (like the ones in your DCC sidings) to make it the same length as a double straight (R601)? Good video

  • @TheHavold - They're not express points by Hornby. Instead their Peco Streamline points which are slightly different again - and basically the only way to get the desired length you might need is to use flexi track and cut it up a bit.

  • there is an awsome train set i would recommend you buy, its the old airfix drX adventure train set , ive read up about it and it looks good. and i think it will give the you same sort of feeling as the new night mail set , maybe even better.

  • bill and ben sound like names you are more likely to hear being shouted in real life on the railway. so i say you should call them that. lol

  • @TheCoopa619 - there's definitely going to be a Bill, but Ben isn't proving to be as popular.

  • i have to say hornbys 9f locomotive has to be one of the most stunning they have made, im mesmerised by the linkage and wheels everytime i just look at the loco, thats without running it lol . £55 for the evening star is excellent ,have you ever brought any of your locos off of ebay?

  • @TheCoopa619 - a few but I tend to steer clear of it really and use proper shops instead.

  • Wow, what a great video!!! I think you should do feature length videos more often. I really enjoyed watching it and that set looks like a whole lot of fun. Are you going to fit it in to your proper layout? Nice one for the RAF t-shirt by the way, im an ex Rock Ape myself. Keep up the great work mate and I look forward the next one :)

  • @ApacheBravo - lol thanks for the comment mate! There will be more feature length vids in the future, yes.

  • @InterCity82 Great, I look forward to them :)

  • @InterCity82 - this video is that good I watched it again mate :-) I was thinking seen as the jinty is in LMS maybe it could pull some of your royal train carriages? liked the pose where you said you were definately not putting nails into your conservatory floor haha :-) as for the drivers names they have to be called Steve and Dave

  • @Class66Rocks - I have two of those Jintys now so I'll definitely hook them up to a wide variety of coaching stock. As for the names, so far Bob and Frank are winning.

  • can you do a video on dcc chip that train?

  • @mickeyC811 - maybe, but not for some time - other videos need to be done first.

  • @MrHollis11 - there are currently no plans to aquire a Class 70, nor are there plans to aquire anything in Freightliner livery - but maybe if it came in a different livery I would consider it. For now there are many more locos and sets I want more.

  • can you dcc chip that train set?

  • @mickeyC811 - yes, the Class 3F 'Jinty' can quite easily be DCC chipped.

  • nice vid, and a long one too lol !

  • why dont you get yourself a hornby superdetail 9f in british rail black i brought one from ebay for £45 absolute bargain and there is some amazing detail.

  • @TheCoopa619 - I have the Hornby Railroad 'Evening Star' which for just £55 blows the pants of any other Class 9F out there.

  • That has to be the coolest thing hornby has ever done. I bet that can keep someone entertained for hours.

  • @jacobporrett - it's obviously designed for fun rather than absolute, serious accuracy - but there's nothing wrong in having fun :)

  • How about a layout update please. It is about time for one.

Good and different video that was

  • @TheHavold - lol I shall upload layout updates as and when able.

  • names for the men- darren and steew, dunno how to speel stew, stoow, stoew, schoow lol??

  • @Calum643 - so far, it might be Bob and Bill (the most votes).

  • How did u get aloud that time, I get 15 mins?!?

  • @JAS0NJW - I don't know?

  • omg its da you!!!

  • Cool :-)

  • also r u able to do a review on the class 370 apt.

  • @graystrainspotter - I won't be doing a review on it per se as it's not exactly easy to walk into a shop and buy it but I will do a special video where I take a good look at it - once it's been refurbished.

  • how about you name the driver and the fireman bill and ben lol

  • @TheCoopa619 - lol a note is being made of all names :)

  • @intercity82 as usual a great video

  • @themattyman3 - thanks!

  • You're really just a kid at heart aren't you...just like me! But...I'm sorry, those are ugly-ass shoes lol

  • @clusterfak - all men are kids really, just with more pocket money and more/bigger toys.

  • i think u should be getting paid my the make of the product company, for doing these review because ur boosting the sales of all the the produts reviews

  • @graystrainspotter - lol, maybe one day I'll get something for free from Hornby for doing all this? :)

  • @InterCity82 should do highly recommeded

  • I did not mean to put that last comment up I accentually press go on my iPad :)

  • Nice vid . Could I see the class 9

  • @TheBoodshot - I don't have a Class 09 but I do have a Class 9F Steam loco that's already been looked at in a previous video.

  • @InterCity82 i got one nick=fireman paul=driver

  • Great Video - I have the Inter-City mail set from 1976 (and a video of it on here). Even after 35 years the mail system is the same! I also found that the ramp positioning needed tweaking to get it all working correctly.

  • @geezenstacks - ahh yes, I expect many people will have needed to 'tweak' their ramps :)

  • i like this set a lot yes i do. except the spring thing train(mostly steam ) with light front bogies sometimes get pushed of track cus of it

  • @BulletAchemist - springs can be removed and/or modified :)

  • aww i have a somerset belle 0-6-0 jinty and it is beautifull its dcc and runs a dream and can pull an awfull lot but and mynes not railroad so urs shunt be either

i like the livery on this one and may get this sepratly just as a loco so i can have a nice 0-6-0 tahh nice view will that video was sweet what set did ur dcc controller come in will you do a opening video like this on ur dcc controller mate tahh if u can like

  • I do prefer the sprung chassis, it seems to add a bit more reliability over points and grades. it does reduce the pulling power ever so slightly, but not by much.

Nice review, and well done, my 3 year old and me love the reviews you do.

I'm sure you get this this all the time, but as personal recommendation have a look at the BR Standard class 4 from Hornby. The latest version is quite simply breathtaking in detail.

Anyway keep up the good work, and good luck with your conservatory decorating.
