I tried donating blood in high school but they told me that my hemoglobin was too late to donate so I couldn't. I was bummed out. :)

i gave blood last week and i passed out right after they removed the needle and the next day i passed oyt twice :s.... but whatever!!!! when u know a life can be saved with ur blood u just feel good

Are there any issues with donating blood if you are overweight but physically healthy?

I'm not sure about the US but the Australian Red Cross allows donations from people weighing between 50kgs and 150kgs. I believe the upper limit is only due to weight restrictions on the chairs they use. If you are physically healthy, then definitely go in. If there's any reason you can't donate, it'll be picked up in the interview.

It's a great thing to do and it really is one of the simplest ways to make a big difference in other people's lives :-)

my best friend has just been diagnosed with cancer and needs a bone marrow transplant if his mom doesnt match i want to try to help him but i dont know how because im in new york and hes in the state of washington, and i dont know if i match him

how would i find out if i match him and do you know how i would beable to get my blood to him?

please if you can help me, i would for ever be greatful to you

you might want to tell your friend to google "national marrow donor program" and under how you can help is a part called "recruit donors" he can get his community involved that way. For you, I would contact your local hospital because most do the transfusions? and they should have a leasion there to help you. Our close university hospital has a nurse we talk to about donating. She is very helpful. Good luck Sweetie :) I will be keeping your friend in my thoughts!

thanks for all you help but im sorry to inform you that three days after i found your video my friend passed away, his body shut down and there was nothing the doctors could do to save him

but thanks to your help and information, im now donating my bone marrow to others in need in my friends honor

hey that would be Great! You really are an effective advocate for this sort of thing and a marrow donor with a high degree of match can for sure save a life. Did they take the blood sample for matching yet?

Nice commentary, shaky camera. Have you also considered being a marrow donor? To sign up only requires a simple blood test initially. If someone matches with you then you'd have the opportunity to donate.

Yes we have :) I'm still waiting to get my card in the mail from the kit I sent in. I'm hoping that someone matches me so I can have the opportunity to donate.

It took a long time to get pregnant and there are reasons why it's not as safe for my babies but David's death had little to do with that (we hope). The mental trauma and the stolen joy of the death of David will take a LONG time to heal enough to be ready to try again. Until then we will do all we can to save another family from the grief of losing a child. The grief of losing a child is the same for your unborn child as it is for your 5, 10 or 20 year old and you will never get over them.
