I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your videos. I've practiced some of these techniques since I was 12, but you've delivered some info that I didn't know. You did it in a very professional manner as well. You mentioned the technique, explained it, demonstrated at a slower speed, then at full speed. Great video man!
good man, doing a little bit of harm to his expensive mini cooper just to make a vidio for the over 900,000 viewers. ps to s0ggyrice you said in a video that its not a fast car, thats why it get great mpg. they come around 1.5L 4 or 6 cylinder. get a v tech and itll get not as good mpg but be wayyy faster, and i cant belive that lil engine can make the tires scream entering 2nd gear
@Gireesh092 hmm maybe you should rev up to 4k-5k rpm by depressing the accelerator more, then release the clutch quickly. ;) But it takes time and practice as this is done by those who have adequate experience.
should make a vid of all these techniques on a race track.. many people don't know the purpose of it.. the people who don't drive manual.. the thing is u can feel the difference in the car.. the shaking.. the vibraiton.. when it's not don't clean.. it's not smooth
@Phildor Yes. Firstly double clutching can lessen wear on your synchro, Secondly with proficient double-clutching, you can put the car in gear faster and more smoothly. for everyday driving though, it doesn't matter much
@krumpinAnnanth depends on where the needle is on the power band, if your sure downshifting does make your car over rev or even close to redline, definitely downshift to gain better acceleration. If you are cruising, definitely downshift to over take someone
@joao231090 We're obviously retarded... Seeing as how your lack of intellect prevents you from understanding a modest bit of humor. For the record, you could always be hit by a bus while doing this... :D
@joao231090 why do you assume everyone here is american? and why do you point fingers here saying americans are retarded, when your the prejudice one ruining this earth?
@chettledon If your transmission breaks before the wheels spin in 1st gear, then your transmission is built from cheving gum and spaghetti. Which might be the case with American manuals. There must be a reason to why flintstones style automatics is so popular in the USA.
@liveforbiking thats considered aggressive driving. i have an aggressive driving style too and i think as long as you dont cause a crash or close call, why cant we do it? its cuz people who dont know how to drive attempt aggressive driving then crash.
@dicedpickels you really seem immature and ignorrant about cars. dont act like a smart ass kid. dont want to mess with you tough guy. just by the way you talk and type you are just making your self look like a childish spoiled shit. grow up and stop making these stupid videos you know nothing about
2. Double clutching is not needed on most anything built in the past 40 years.
3. Skipping gears does no harm (Chevrolet has mandated this for years on light throttle, to save gas - 1st-4th on Vettes).
4. Tests by BMW in the 1980s showed that best mileage was to shift early (like maybe 2500 rpm), and use nearly full throttle. This related to volumetric efficiency, I think. However, I don't know if this still holds true for VVT systems or turbo/super-chargers.
@25jaysboy yes, but you risk blowing or damaging your motor...unless of course you're lugging your engine at a low rpm in 5th and shift down to 2nd...it requires a quick right arm shift motion, and a quick clutch in to neutral if your rpm is near or over redline when you do the 5th to 2nd shift
Today Germany is using fifths columns to infiltrate and systematically suppres any opposition in other countries on its way to world domination. This includes faking evidence to let people disappear in prison, cause them trouble and murder them.
My homepage gives information about the techniques being used today by German officials and snitchers. They are no longer fighting open battles because Germany failed twice. Today Germans are using all sort of dirty tricks if you dont collaborate with them.
@LilZaeyTV If your moving you shouldn't be able to shift into first unless your going slow...Modern transmissions block out 1st and reverse when your moving.
I general shift from 5th-4th-3rd but keep the clutch in when I run through 4th but still tap the throttle. It's not necessarily but I like running through the gears like that.
You want to take advantage of all your gears when you engine brake. Going 60mph? use 4th till you get to ~40 then 3rd till you get ~30 then 2nd.
@wichertj There's really nothing to stop you. Theoretically you could shift from 5th to reverse, although it would probably destroy your transmission. Because of how the engine is running idle while the clutch is disengaging the engine from the gearbox, it is sometimes more fuel efficient to shift from 2nd to 4th or 3rd to 5th. However this is only efficient if you are rapidly accelerating, you don't want to stay on high RPMs for too long.
@wichertj That's the beauty of manual you can do pretty much what ever you want and the car will respond. Alot more control than an automatic or a triptonic/paddle car
@fergus1494 yeah i hear the tires slipping but you can also hear a turbo a second after you hear the tires slipping obviously your a dumbass and you dont know what a turbo sounds like so stfu and learn before you start acting smart
hey man..good tutorial..wanna get better at launching on manual transmission.. i've been looking up other stuff..your tut teaches launching with your foot initially on the gas+clutch and then release the clutch and go with your foot on the gas at the right RPM..the other tutorial i read teaches you to release the clutch(without ur foot on the gas) so the engine engages THEN you press the gas..what's the difference between the two in terms of launching and preserving your clutch?
how important is to add gas ( while clutch is pressed ) while down shifting? I have a hard time down shifting in general, although I got my drivers license.
@Kamenos4ever It depends on whether you are intending to slow down or not. If you are I wouldn't add gas, if you're not it'll be more fuel efficient to add gas as you are releasing the clutch pedal just enough so you are not engine braking. It costs more fuel to brake and then accelerate back to the speed you were at than to simply maintain the speed.
test driving an STI soon thanks for video i see lots of debate on whether or not to down shift for braking assistance or using neutral when coming to a complete stop...which is best?
I've seen many saying synchros are good enough these days...my question is, by what years was it not good enough, 1950s, 1960s 1970s, 1980s etc? I have a toyota corolla, nothing fancy...from 87. Would double clutching revmatch downshifts be better than single clutch revmatch downshifts on a car that age?
if its 200 per tire, and you have 4 tires, what does that equal? If my 1st grade multiplication is correct, that makes 800. My Mach 1 Clutch is priced at $449.99 As you can see the clutch is $450.00 (rounded up) Now, my friend at Radical Autosports here in Ventura, CA gave me an appraisal of $300 for installation. That makes $750 TOTAL. $50 less than the cost of tires for My car.
what kind of CAI do you have?

if its 200 per tire, and you have 4 tires, what does that equal? If my 1st grade multiplication is correct, that makes 800. My Mach 1 Clutch is priced at $449.99 As you can see the clutch is $450.00 (rounded up) Now, my friend at Radical Autosports here in Ventura, CA gave me an appraisal of $300 for installation. That makes $750 TOTAL. $50 less than the cost of tires for My car.
