In bollywood she is d best bhrat natyam dancer...even ahead of vijyantimala,hemamalini, sridevi & others and the reason is bharatnatyam is unisexual fire dance..it represnts both the masculine & feminine aspects ; lyasa for feminine grace & tandava for masculine agility...and only meenakshi bring out both these qualities...the other dancer seems bit more femminine...

minakshree is the best dancer, she knows 4 different and trained in 4 classical dancing, madhuri will know kathak and sridevi bharatnatyam, but minakshree knows 4, and this is coming from a sridevi fan.

i believe this is the best Tandav i have seen so far in an indian movie. Meenakshi is just terrific. Her moves are like lightning. Her footwork and speed is OMG! Truly, a fine dance. One of the best out there. She is definitely on par with Vjy, Padmini and the rest

But she is ONE OF THE BEST DANCERS in the industry.. eveyrone says sridevi was a better dancer.. but if you notice the steps she has done here... they are SUPER DUPER difficult and none of sridevis dances have this difficulty in them .. only the nagraja one cmoes close.

But this year neither madhuri nor meenakshi deserved hte award.sridevi deserved it for her outstanding performance in khuda gawah

Well year 1993 when damini was released the award went to juhi chawla for darr. I very well remember being so furious and upset wen that happened coz acc to me also meenakshi was outstanding through out the movie. As far as I know khuda gawah came earlier than this movie and well sri devi was really amazing in it Well meenakshi is a classicly trained dancer so ofcourse she is better dancer than sridevi. She gives performances on stage for bharatnatyam or is it odissi. i also think u meant natraj

But I have had enough of people saying oh she is classically trained so she is better.. Please man... so many young girls in idnia are classically trained day in day out....

that doesnt make each and everyone good.....

if classical training was the only thing needed .. aishwarya could be considered a good dance. but all she does is JUMP !!!

Well I dunn know who told u aish was she never was trained classically. But for meenakshi I said it becoz she does shows like performances and some just trained indian girl would not. Just learning is diffferent and having a passion enough to make it ur career is different and she is classically trained in 4 types of dances. Ofcourse she reached here becoz she had a born talent but if u polish ur talent its diff :) I hate her dialogue delivery2

Though damini was a good movie meenakshi never struck a chord within people in the acting department

her style of delivering dialogues gets to me... another lady who had terrible dialogue deivery was HEMA MALINI,,, who had a constipated tone at the end of every dialogue.. I just fail to understand why to date!

I think damini would be a huger hit if sridevi had been in it !

Bharatnatyam is just perfect for Tandav. Just like Siva danced for Sati when Sati jumped on the fire b/c her father insulted her husband by not inviting Siva into a get together/"party". Siva became so mad and angry that he started to dance and through the thumping of his legs the world came close to near destruction. Siva killed his father in law brutally.

Excellent performance by Meenakshi. Her performance in Damini was just flawless. The one and only person who deserved to win a Filmfare was her and only her. Madhuri, Sridevi, Juhi did not even come close to her acting.

Meenakshi is a trained and skilled dancer in Bharat Natyam. She was truly one of the most precise and coordinated dancers in Bollywood. She's up there with Vyjaynthimala, Padmini, Kamala Lakshman, Asha Parekh, Rajshree and Waheeda Rehman. Beautiful tandav so well done with such passion and intensity. Way to go Meenakshi!
