@steakbread 1080p is 1920x1080 then 2k is 2,048×1,536 and 4k is 4,096×3,072. It's much higher resolution. Think of it as 1080p to 480p back when HD was first introduced. At this point there are very few displays capable of such resolutions. Even movies you see in theaters are shot in 1080p or 2k depending on the camera. So it won't take off quite yet. Hope that answers your question.

If it is 4000p it just upscales from the source which is 1080p. Digital cinema cameras can go up to 4K and some even 5K, but from what I read most of the movies (digital) are shot at 2K. Anything above that causes headache for some people (I'm talking native resolution, not upscaled).

The home HD systems (blu-ray) are 1080p at ~20Mb/sec. Any system that goes above that is professional. The 4K on this TV is useful probably for a PC monitor with hi-end PC

Plasma's are 10 times faster. LED = lot's of motion blur, which is horrible for action movies, games, and so on.

@chevato9 1080p is simply 1920x1080 resolution which was on comps before consoles and since they had to make it all dumbed down for people they went with just half and not really telling you what it is except its good... anyways 4k is most likely 4096x2160 resolution on panasonic tvs which still isnt the best 4k res tvs. resolution is the pixels in which you view something so a 1080p tv or monitor has 2073600 pixels which allows for clearer and better quality images.

One of the major downsides of projection is you have to be a darkened room. TV screens can display awesome visuals in a lit up shopping centre.
