  • I love what I've heard of the new music!

I always thought the updated CD-ROM music could never be improved upon, but this remix sounds even better (especially with the ambient sound effects which were sorely lacking before). The above clip really demonstrates this improvement well!

My only concern is the Voodoo music. The original 1990 tune was perfect, but for the CD:ROM version a horrible brass part was tacked on, which was too heavy-handed and ruined the tune. I hope this has been fixed!

  • If any of the devs behind this game are reading this, I just want to say THANK YOU! This project is an amazing dream come true for fans like me.

And it would be a crime not to give LeChuck's Revenge the same tretment. It MUST be done!

As for Curse, it's fine as it is obviously. An HD widescreen update would be nice, but it doesn't need any work on it (providing you still have all the artwork).

By the way, I hope all your new graphics are higher resolution than HD, for future compatibility!

  • Hey, people better not say that this is better than the 1st version, because its exactly the same. Graphics and sound don't make the game, besides a lot more hard work went into the original, back when original was made, it took a lot more hard work to make games now the computer does the work a lot faster nd a lot easier.

  • I'm a game developer and i'm sorry but you shouldn't comment on things if you don't know what you are talking about. And you really don't know what you are talking about. The 'computer does the work'... oh dear, you really are misinformed.

  • he's right though, to call yourself a developer or musician nowadays is too easy. this game got a remix treatment. and just like music, a remix is the easiest thing to do. the codebase is already there.

  • Sure, but that's not what most developer do. There is a difference between 'remix' and creating from scratch. I don't remix - and nor do the people I work with. All the games I have worked on were made from scratch. And his argument has nothing to do with remix. He was suggesting that somehow the 'computer does the work'... which is absolute nonsense and rather insulting considering that game development is more complex and difficult these days.

  • I've worked on 'big budget' next gen games and I also recently worked on a 2D 'old fashioned' painted backdrop adventure game - I loved working on it because it was so much simpler than making a 'next gen' game. I just don't get how just because there are people who 'remix' work out there, that now we ALL get tainted with that brush.

  • Games are far easier to make these days, why? because you dont have to program with 0101010110 anymore. We have all seen the making ofs on DVDs and visual medium has never been so easy to make, if it was so hard - then why would they ever make them? A friend of mine has made some awesome games using half-life2 Garys Mod, its not that hard.

  • uh huh (sigh) But he didn't make the source content did he... Valve's team and Gary did. Oh I give up - nevermind that I've worked in the industry for years - I bow to your superior knowledge. This is a lost cause because this seems to be going over peoples heads. Carry on in ignorance. Farewell.

  • yeah... but who clicks the buttons to make the games? not gary... and not james... or Daniel... ;)

  • Oh you cheeky sod Daniel, you got me good! A good wind up. Kudos! ;) hehe

  • Actually, I'd call (most, not all!) current game designers (and musicians) 'tool users'. But that is because I reach back to the days of C64/Amiga (and early) PC, where you had to code and do stuff the hard way. Each generation has their pro and cons ofcourse, stuff is easier perhaps nowadays. But still you are no Michael Jackson or Carmack. It takes experience, and a (genius) mind to create 'art'. Maybe that's why current music/movies are mostly about flash.
