  • Quick 3 questions: 1. how long did it take you to learn the basics? 2. how much is the kit and software you use? 3. on a scale 1-10 how fun is it?

  • @brambodoodle Hi!

    Quick 3 reply :D

    1. A lot of listening existing tracks and understanding the beat patterns

and for the software, vsts and midi controller , it needs a lot of experimenting - If you're going to self learn.

    2. At this stage, the controllers, software and soundcard were around 600-700 euros

    3. I could stay all day doing crappy sounds. but at the end of the day it was all madness ( I enjoy dirty sounds) so... a 10 for sure. I don't know how making any kinds of music should be under

  • @strrrangemen If you're not having fun when making music then just stop to rethink your way of working.

  • I love how the fan is being a fan.

  • This looks so fun man. Damn.

  • dopeee

  • sounds a lot like sts9

  • thats pretty great... stuff like this made me like drum n bass

  • I LOVE THIS.

  • nice clear sound, keep it up !

  • @Oxix999 no djing involved, no comment relevancy.

  • @Oxix999 you idiot

  • @Oxix999 DJs wish they could perform like this :)

  • @kaoD ye, but no real djs. :)

  • @Oxix999 Also, DJs don't need a vinyl, fag. They can mix with anything.

  • Ah nice impro man! Those drum sounds are great! Were did you get the hits from man?

  • I like it! I don't think it's boring. When your making music live, you tend to get sucked into it, and time becomes somewhat irrelevant. Or at least that's what happens to me. So taking that into account I think it varies a lot.

  • @Underthecokesign Exactly what i would have said :)

  • good start:) try to work it out more it could be the next hit ;)

  • so relxing :)

  • fuckin wicked mate keep it up but how can you make a impro in ableton i read the description but jus like you know puttin loops in live?

  • i feel like playing a japanese racing game hahaha nice man :D

  • @MBarriosMata yeah it feels kinda like ridge racer music

  • I love the melody, simple beats but enough to enjoy, great job ! Keep going like this man (y)

  • i liked it...nice work

  • this is badass

  • damn this shit is great!:D

    nice beat man.

  • lol i have also a fan on my pc beside the monitor at moment. it turns absolutely in sync with the one in the vid.

    somewhat scary :)

    btw. nice mix

  • will the software that comes with the pad be good to use for a beginner like me? and does it have different sounds?

  • so if i plugged it into my computer and downloaded software(need recomendation for software i am new to all this) would the sound play through my pc speakers, which are connected to my sound card?

  • does this plug staright into ur computer? can u mix songs with the sample pad effects and do u need software to use it with ur computer? cheers

  • @Vidmakr6302 hi.

yes this does via USB (v.2 preferably).

It's a controller, so it needs a software and it doesn't output any audio if used "standalone". and this applies to the pcr300 and the akai mpd24 (cause i don't know which one you were talking about. So everthing here comes out of the computer's soundcard. people, please understand midi controllers are just basically really advanced user interfaces. left alone, they don't do shit. it's just a tool. contact me for more info dude. thx

  • this is one chill ass D'n'B song.

  • great stuff man!

  • 3:17 is dope

  • nice...

  • Not bad .. but you can do much better with that gear.

  • Amazing!!! very good live man!! :) :)

  • Nice work sounds awesome and clean! But im missing deep bass ;D

  • yo man please lemme get the mp3 or download link for this really digging it holla at me

  • how do u control the fx with the mpd? its that a setting from ableton?

  • that's cool, mate... I think some bells sound would fit... i don't know anything bout dnb though, just imagination haha

  • Stale

  • I like the sound! Not boring not a perverse conglomeration of sounds that make my head hurt! I use ableton as well and I am yet to really figure it out. If you have any advice let me know.

  • It is indeed boring, but it doesn't suck actually I think it is pretty good, soft, catchy and rhythmic :).

Also learn to type like a normal person, noez liek dis pl0x, you just look like a moron.

  • I agree Alanmntz.

It IS boring (the only reason i leave this video here is to show off when i tell my friends... eheh ....)

but yeah, i'd rather see some comment like yours than a "sucks ballz" kind of comment.

If you start surfing on youtube and see one comment like that, it's fine, but then amongst hundreds you read only 2 comments written by intelligent people and those other crappy ones tend to become irritating and i can't help to react. But thanks Alanmntz, happy new year a bit late.

  • very nice!

  • awesome, dude!!! What sw are you using? FL Studio?

  • you can see in video, it's Ableton Live. not fl studio

  • lol.

    no ableton. fl is GAY

  • FL is win

  • this is frickin sweet

  • Very good work. If you don't mind a little friendly advise. more bass and a little shorter beginning . But other than that very good work. Maybe some vocals too.

  • aii man good work ;D y have only 2 korng nano kontrols

  • Dude. that was awesome. Great jam! I'm only just getting into all this MIDI DJing stuff and it really inspires me seeing others playing. Gotta get me an Akai MPD. Cheers mate

  • Gr8 session man...!

  • thanks for the replies so far man, went out today and bought my pcr300, now...how the hell did u map it out to work with ableton? did you find an automap? or do u do everything manually? bahhh so lost

  • I never had any use for the automap thingy. The best thing with Live is you can put it in midi mode, turn a knob and it maps itself easily without changing a thing on the pcr. i personnaly started with the "control map" 0. I think it's the deafault pcr map when you turn it on. so you should now learn how to use Live correctly by watching tutorials or browsing the web for info. I don't think you really need to do any changes to the pcr for starters.

  • Then when you get familiar with how Live and the pcr work together, and if you get for example another midi controller or software you would have to make your own control map with the pcr editor to change the way pads work etc... but as i understand you're new to this, you should first play around with the onboard control map. you can still send me a message for a bigger problem because comments are quite limited for a good explaination :D have fun !!!

  • sorry* seen your lil bro use a laptop*** :)

  • since this video i bought myself a laptop, and it's the one my bro is using. I've never seen a Sony Vaio in action, and anyway most recent sound card can give you quite decent latency with any software, as long as you use the proper driver.

  • The one i use, is Asio4All. google it and download it. Because some soundcards are not always Asio 2 "compatible". they often use directsound or drivers than can suck with software synthetisers. So buy it, use Asio4All. And play around with buffer sizes. 0ms latency is difficult to get i tell you. But you might be around 30ms and be fine.

  • If that doesn't do, don't blame it on the bcr nor on your laptop, blame it on the internal soundcard and get an external USB 2 soundcard (or firewire maybe).

  • hey man sounds great, im planning on buying the edirol, just one question, will it work with my Sony Vaio laptop? its the fw170D to be exact. I ask because ppl say you need a better sound card? n i got no clue what they mean, wondering if you can point me in the right direction cuz i see you use a laptop as well :)

  • zajebiście w Huj :)

  • nice job ;)

  • Great man, sounds so good.

I have a question can I have the same effects with the Akai MPK49, somebody help me!!

    Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice chilled out tune!

Enjoying this : ] Keep it up!

  • nice, idk if you can help me but,

i just startd using abletone with my mpd,

and i cant get any knobs to work, or program them in...

    and...

i dig the "play the drum line live thing", so i was wondering if you know how to or if you can program in the sounds into the pads that you want,. since any raw drumming starts in c#, or watever, thats like half of bank b and half bank c.

can you have all drumming pads on one bank? to jamm out

plz reply if you can help.

    peace.

  • when you said C# i thought you wanted to program some software stuff.. wow. well i don't really know what you're trying to say. I just know you can get whatever sound on whichever pad you want as long as you use the correct software because the akai mpd by definition is a "controller" so it doesn't do anything by itself.

  • The melody line is irritating... ha.. everthing else seems good...

  • nice drums

  • Great first video. It'll only get better. I like the organ chords.

  • how did you get your pcr to work with ableton? mine doesn't :( help

  • Hard to tell like that, you have to tell me what you tried already ...

    - driver installed?

    - have you done a custom map with the edirol map editor (i don't remember the exact name)... you don't need to but i'm just asking

    - Do you plug it in BEFORE opening Live?

    - check in the midi settings of live if Edirol PCR 1 or Edirol PCR 2 is listed (must be three of them anyway, 1 2 and midi in i think)...

  • - if it is, turn on every switch next to the name except for Sync. so you have something like Edirol PCR 1 on off on .

    - then try mapping your controls and stuff...

    - if your problem involves clip triggering or something else you'll have to help me help you by telling me more :D

  • The main lead starts to sound really boring after two minutes.

  • niicee... thanks for uploading..<3

we WANT much more songs ;)

  • nice use of the beat reapeat tool ;)

  • yeah indeed :)

  • nice session man:)

  • simple and great!!

  • thats ill homey.

  • liquid as hell m8

  • nice job man !! send me mp3:s ::P:P:P

  • Oh man - this is such a nice little mix - make some more :) so chill - beautifull

  • Does the MPD24 work with reason 4.0 aswell?

  • i like the glitch parts... pretty cool

  • This is some good shit! Though you use only two elements it's great to have this running in the background, and even more fun to watch you play. Thanks for uploading! :)

  • yo selectah , this impro is so nice...

massive tune, for real, keep on!

    big up!

  • Love it. Nice job. Nothing gets boring on Improv.

  • Nice job mate :D Pad dosn't get boring to me. It's the repetitive synths that put me in a trance while I listen to the breaks.

  • Dude, that was good shit.

I'm new to the genre but I know what I like and you is tha shit

  • Ya.. the pad gets boring.. but wow man I can imagine the fun you had.. I always have a lot of fun with I do live stuff.. but I'm using renoise.. so it's never serious and variated live stuff.. I gotta start Ableton.

I think I heard glitch vst.. Am I right?

  • Yep, it's Glitch. Says so in the description.

  • nice

  • Nicely done.

  • excellent that's really good man

  • Nice :D

  • your great :)

    im lovin it!

  • You aint Ming and FS...maybe one day. still good though

  • I kinda fell asleep, but that's maybe cause my style's more Hardcore D&B

Still I think you did a great job dude!

keep on the good work and maybe try to make a hardcore D&B vid :P, I'll be the first one to check it out xD

  • Hey man, i understand you can fall asleep with that now :D

I don't know when i'm going to go back on YT, i've got plenty of stuff to do in my life, but i promess a more trashy video next time, i did some already, but probably not what you are looking for anyway.

    thanks for the comment!

    see you then

  • Hardcore DNB? HAHAHA, WTF, U Mean Jump Up Or Tech Step? Hardcores For DJ fukin SLIPMAT. Fuk HardCore. Drum And Bass All Day Every Day. Nice Vid Man, Like The Drums, Automated Filters Are Don.

  • Dude, hardcore D&B as in Counterstrike/T.Z.A/Spliff/....

Djeez are you a noob or something?

  • Its Called TECH! U Fukin Noob. I Bin Mixin For 10 years Boi, Played In Minitry, Brixton Mass, The Academy Etc. So U Shut The Fuk Up, Theres No Such Sub Genre As Hardcore DNB!

  • its obvious what he ment m8, Dont be so up your self like that. For all we know you could have rented those places out and played to yourself, it means nothing.

  • fuck all the subgenres, its electronic music :)

  • fuk all the subgenres! its electronic music :)

  • I think you did a neat job.

Better than I could've done on my first time!

How do you like your Edirol PCR 300?

  • it has become my best friend :D

and since i never touched any other midi controller i worship it

  • Excellent. Thanks for the reply, sir.

Take care - and keep up the great work.

  • to slow getting into it and change up that freakin melody.hella boring!

  • crap*

  • yoo dude wat drum machine you using and wat program on the pc i would like to know so i could do sum live stuff with othe genres

  • very very good. It's very nice to see some live drum and bass acts, not only dj-s. Keep practicing

  • style*

  • whatever its called, breakbeat, liquid, drum n bass, its sick as fuckkkk. i really like your still, and your repetitive riff that never seems to get old.

  • Ah, I believe thats ableton. Very good program, I use it on everything about!

  • nagyon jóóóó

  • Don't delete it... Its a good track :)

  • i liked it a lot

  • Thats nice and cool track :)

    looks fun xD

  • its good what you do, but to me its not hard enogh for dnb i wud say thst a bit more towards the break beat side of thngs

  • well thats a nice one :D

  • where did u get your drum sounds from?

  • with two minutes you could have the intro, but then we need the explosion of the song, some fat bass, harder beats and you would have an awesome song.

    cheers

  • i agree with you. that melody would go great with a nice deep reg. and then some harder drums. =]

  • yeah, it's a shame that now dnb is kind of more of the same, again and again.

    Cheers.

  • don't speak of what you don't know about. that is dnb, don't call it "the same"

its the amen or the funky drummer break who makes dnb whats it is!

  • ok thanks, you showed your ignorance in dnb, i know what the amen o a break beat is, you didn't understand that dnb is now in a period of no creativity, don't get me wrong, i'm not sayin that people who make dnb is not creative, i'm saying that these people is not showing nothing new!

    thats "the same"

  • u could sell this to a video game developer. this would be a fighting game song...on Tekken 8 or something lol

  • This is really good dude don't hate on it so much I like it a lot.

  • Love Love Love Love Love, fuckin' loving this melody and tune man.. great job! great!

  • hey, man! great Job!

  • i love it man sounds like u can make money off that 10/10

  • Lots of money in that screen. Too rich for my blood.

  • hey man, what program are you using to do this? it sounds awesome.

  • ye its ok but too repetitive and bloody boring after the second min.

  • Ape Escape

  • SICK! NICE NICE NICE!

  • 5 stars

  • not bad living it up abit but it is a chilled out set x

  • amazing

  • awesome man

  • I like the fan!

  • I also have edirol 300 - bought used and quite up there - use it in conjuction with a KP3 and some circuit bent crap filtered thru the usual softwares (sonar, etc) - now, for the big question: how did you add the fan, in the background? Its happening, its happening...

  • what's up with my fan? :D

where can i hear your stuff?

  • awesome, u are! lol yoda

  • grateful i am!

  • lol i'm a drummer, but idk if u are, but u REALLY seem like it! :) NNNIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, that was!

    lol :)

  • beat repeat :D love my MPD24

  • dude sounds really fukin chill man fuck the haters

  • true...word...it's all about the chill..

  • not bad...

careful with the Glitch VST, so easy to recognize... it's sooo good though. :)

yeah, it's a bit too long, you coulda added a big bass and keep it interesting all the way... you had enough material to keep me captivated for maybe three minutes... then, it gets boring, in my opinion.

sounds like late night DnB, maybe some jazzy rhodes chords/vocals could add a bit.

    good job.

  • dont yah just love ableton live makes everything so easy than copy and pastin samples in cubase i only use cubase sx3 now for vocals nice tune though by the way peace

  • r u usin qbass

  • no i'm not, it's Massive by Ni

  • sik....wouldnt buy it though ...to plain

  • its simple but not bad :-) keep it up

  • is that an mpc youre using right there?

  • o it's a mpd24... as far as i know the big diff is that this one is not a sampler by itself, it's only a midi controller

  • I also have a fan behind my computer!...urm...yeah,,i have but what i was about to say was; nice track dude!

  • i would remix this one!

sounds like good lookin or maybe reinforced from the mid 90's.

  • Pretty nice.

I'm doing something similar with a(n?) RM1X. Although, those glitchy effects are not part of the arsenal.

    Booyah!

  • Very much Pleasant music

  • you should apply for a job in prison :)

  • why is that?

  • to punish the prisoners :)

  • lol

  • u must be tryin to hypnotize us wit that beat ah

  • eheh... is it working? :P

thank you guilhermesa for taking it with humour!

i apologize for wasting your time on this

  • shit, apologizing on youtube is pathetic dude =P

im happy for ur humor as well -- its all about sympathy! ur beat is cool. if you make random versions of it that are not so homogeneous, u can switch between them, then it would sound perfect! right now its shows u kno wat ur doin but ur lazy, kidda like me ahahahah

  • Interesting but way too repetitve man.

  • i guess i went too fast. i didn't prepare any breaks or cool bass line, or effects. i was just too much excited about this new hardware!

in fact here i probably have only3 or 4 clips on Live... you should watch my second impro.

Thank you for the comment ^^

  • boring chords...really .....i`m sleeping
