  • Amazing, but... it's so dark it hurts my eyes XD

  • Nooooooooooo dogy

  • The Thing and Ridley Scott's Alien are the best scary movies for me :))

  • My reaction

When a human dies: lol he got owned.

When a dog dies: OMG NO THE BASTARD!

  • "its weird and its pissed off"

  • Wait one minute the dogs are running out of the cage but then there in it?

  • @minhmook there were 4 dogs and 2 escaped but one got shot by acid and the other one was being absorbed by the tentacles so the guy shot it to put it out of its misery.

  • that's what happen when you let cyriak play with your dog

  • @kosta1987 I think it was some kind of acid wasn't it?

  • @Archaosthegemfish i herd it was like a paralyzing gunk

  • This video's category is 'pets and animals' WINNING!

  • fuck if this was a video game it would be more disturbing then silent hill :P

  • @masterofdarkness144

There IS a video game "of this", but rather a sequel about the military rescue team sent in during artic spring time to save them. came out in 02 for pc, ps2 and xbox. maybe it's like how blue shift and opposing force are to half-life? altough they where more "during" the same event, and not afterwords...

  • @Ajoh92 aw they should make on based off the movie

  • @masterofdarkness144 there has been made a video game

  • I'll never understand people's fascination with posting the isolated, most disturbing parts of movies on youtube. I've seen it happen everywhere.

  • if the dogs can bite off taht freaking barbwire.. WHY DIDNT THEY JUST KILL THE FUCKING THING?!

  • @jasonjapi

It wouldn't have mattered if they did. If the thing touches any complex organic lifeform, they also become the thing.

Biting the thing to death would not have killed it. It would have actually made all those dogs into things.

  • damn those dogs were scared shitless.....

  • I remember seeing this film in the cinemas back in 1980 something! Pretty freaky on the big screen

  • "I don't know what the hell's in there, but it's weird and pissed off, whatever it is." Great line.

  • The dog was the best actor in the whole movie, which is saying something, cause the acting in this movie is superb

  • I hate this it makes me sad poor dogs :O

  • ill betcha this is a true story from the nazi expedition to antartica from camp x in ontario canada??

  • what happen to the dog at 4:00

  • @poktfny The substance that was squirted by the Thing is an Acidic compound that roast off the lesh and fur making it easier to digest the prey.

  • @poktfny The alien creature were trying to absorb the dog... the dog was being killed by that acid shot.. so... doesn't make so much differenze (sorry for my english, I'm italian)

  • @alexinwebz got it and your english is perfect

  • EXCELENTE...

  • Best part 4.46

just a mass of blood, two eyes, and parts.....disgusting and absolutely marvelous!!!

  • @LosCocosPeludos Its better than suffering

  • watch out where the computer with tennis shoes goes.

  • They should have torched it before the first part [of the Thing] got away

  • ITS THE DOG FROM RES 4!!!!!!!

  • I hate seeing animals suffer in films. I can watch people get killed and it doesn't bother me as much but I have a soft spot for animals. But this is still a great flick.

  • So wrong.... I can watch some pretty fucked up shit and feel fine.... but this makes me feel horrible...those dogs didn't deserve anything..... and that was pretty brutal like with the red tentacles sticking into those dogs...... I know its just a movie....but still..... I feel sick. Its like Prototype (Game) When he absorbs shit..... but way more brutal and realistic

  • Non riesco neanche a guardarla, mi fa talmente paura, di sicuro questo è il miglior film horror di sempre.

  • Man I must be sick! I can watch kids die in movies with no sad feelings whatsoever! But when a dog dies I feel awful!

  • @angusyounghero thats how i felt to

  • It reminds me of the "Mutant Dog" from "The Fly II."

  • You can't get scarier than The Thing

  • so is the thing one entity or is it like zombies where it infects you

  • @lumpyfishful Cell heaps connected to each other form one Entity. Once seperated they become individual entities that have no means of working together. In the movie the Thing also seems to have a viral aspect.

  • @lumpyfishful No, the concept of the Thing is very interesting, it's something like a virus, but it's a part of a whole entity at the same time, every living being that is infected it's a part of, and it's connected to the thing. So the thing can also split itself in order to survive (horrible scenes included). I'd like nowadays more horror movies have interesting basis and atmosphere like this one (not the same bullshit of a X virus and Ur imagination), is awsome!

  • think about it: would this scene have been as good with CGI?

  • @holycowrap Nope, only thing I'd even remotely consider doing w/ CGI would've been maybe liquid/dissolving effects, that's it. X(

  • poor huskies! D:

  • Dear GOD, that scared me. 0_o

Atleast 2 of the dogs escaped.

  • @DarkDialga416 Wilfred Brimley shot them tho. :'(

  • I really love horror movies, this one especially. To be honest movies like this scare me more than the newer ones.

  • i'm sent flashbacks of Parasite Eve lol

awesome scene. i remember bits of this movie from my childhood. used to watch it all the time.

  • I like this scene but i wish the dogs would hav started 2 pwn the thing like in the book and the thing sounds too much like a dog which is sad because i love dogs

  • Jed was such a amazing dog actor. he lived for 18 years.

  • To me, it's simply the greatest scene of the whole movie. (When McReady discovers the thing screaming in the light)

The way they made that trhing appears to those poor guys makes you feel like something just directly came out from hell to walk the earth.

The guy who did that (name: Rod) finished at the hospital because he worked to hard on his creations. But I seriously wonder if that genius artist went in a normal hospital or in a psychatric one.

    Creating this probably tortures minds....

  • i love how the suspense music rises when they get closer to the dog cages

  • love the line its weird and pissed off

  • these ppl r retards turn the goddamn lights on but no they use a flashlight

  • the lights didnt turn on when he flipped the switch

  • after watching a second time i saw but thnx for tellin me anyway

  • God this movie freaks me out every time I watch it...

  • seriously

  • I love dogs too, but this is such a great scene!

  • NOOO!!! I love dogs!

  • The mutant dogs in Resident Evil 4 are very similar what with tentacles sprouting out of their backs and all.

  • First time I watched this on YouTube, I had this horrible feeling in my chest afterwards for two days... now I have it again....

This scene really disgusts me... one, because it happens to the poor dogs (had this happened to humans I wouldn't have cared, I tend to care for animals a lot more), and two because this stuff doesn't happen the same way in the book or in the 1950s movie, the dogs attack the thing and tear it up pretty good, they don't just stand there....

  • And the thing is kinda stupid anyway, it had the element of surprise and blew it, and got torched. I mean, it could have probably have just infected the dogs and not absorbed them, and then they would have a team of thing-dogs that are perfectly normal to the humans. It tells me they only did this scene to show off their bad-ass special effects, which admitedly are pretty good considering this is the 80s, but I'd rather look at something... I want to look at. I mean, the Xenomorph in Alien....

  • ...I mean, that actually looks cool. I think.

The flamethrower also! Too bad-ass show-offs in one scene! Why do they have a flamethrower? Flame doesn't even work in both book and previous movie, they just electrocute it instead.

I still find the "Mac wants a flamethrower!" "Mac wants the what?" exchange funny.

  • rofl!?

  • dude, its a great film nevertheless, they don't even try to look cool

its just as if they ddin't know they were ina movie

    =)

  • The THing owns Alien!

The Thing has better graphics considering the material theyre dealing with-they arent dealing with humanoid looking Xenomorphs, they are dealing with a shape-shifting monster and the creativity is flawless

besides, do you really believe dogs are going to accept the "new dog" to come and get close to infect them?"

I mean they practically knew something was up as soon as they saw it

  • My opinion has changed considerably since I posted that comment.

I think The Thing is a great horror movie, and I want to watch the whole of it someday. I will never like this scene, but it's intended to shock and horrify, and I feel it does that rather well (unless it's just because I like huskies). I also think, just judging from what I've heard, that this scene is intended to kinda show what the Thing can do, kinda set the mood for the rest of the movie.

  • "The flamethrower also! Too bad-ass show-offs in one scene!"

lolz that made me laugh though,..

  • That scene is nothin compared to some of the others

  • its a movie, fuck off

  • Guitar: ...Why did you even bother to say that?

  • If i was traped in there with that, i would have killed myself before it got me cuz who wants 2 loose there life from a horrible monster like that.

  • HOLY SNIT!

i have seen some gore but that beats it all!

    those poor dogs!

  • is this like a movie or something. Its good!

  • its John Carpenter's "The Thing", Its a real nasty and gory movie but its a good movie.

  • it looked to me that the dog at 4:12 still had a chance though. IT wasn't completely absorbed. It looked like it was just pulling it towards itself to absorb it. But now that I watch again, very closely, I guess the dog wouldn't have had a chance.

  • The thing growing those long, long arms was pretty cool I thought

  • what did The Thing squirt at those other dogs?

  • possibly the dog urine?, because it still had some of features as tranformation occured

  • nevermind, it was probably somesort of digestive enzyme because the dog could have been the one that looked dried up and hairless in the corner

  • I think that it's something to help absorbtion or like a long range version of the 'I touch you, I become you' thing.

  • @yellowmattereyecusta actually, they show the dog later when Mac shows up and the dog's skin and fur look like they are being broken down and liquified, so the stuff the thing sprays is probably some form of digestive acid

  • @yellowmattereyecusta I always saw it as some kind of goo to keep them still. When the tentacles come out you see it covered in the stuff. It was the one dog trying to get out and needed to be neutralized first before absorbsion.

  • @yellowmattereyecusta More like an acid like a fly uses to digest food

  • @yellowmattereyecusta Maybe is an acid shot? Dunno what it is... the only thing I know is... WHY KILLING DOGS?!

  • @AngryGermanGuy

Technically, they used creamed corn for the fx.

  • @AngryGermanGuy it just pissed on the dogs thats all

  • this is my favorite scene!

the thing's name in this scene is.......cuddles!!!

  • i fucking hate this scene...i own a husky dammit

i dont hate u though so not to worry lol

  • poor doggies. And the only survivor who was being pulled in was shot by mister "I can't aim for shit".

  • Nah, he was aiming for the dogs. Mercy killing.

  • ya, the dog was a goner and was being absorbed

  • You must not have seen a couple dogs run out of the cage when they open the door.

  • What do you mean, not saw it? Hard not to notice. Unless that wasn't directed at me.

  • wtf wtf wtf wtf that must of been some fucked up producer

  • this is an alien movie "The Thing", and John Carpenter has made a masterpiece of the acting, directing, and special effects

don't you ever scorn such a great horror movie!

few movies today can deliver the same as "The Thing"

  • Its not real, so dont worry a shit..

  • This is the scariest scene ever in horror-movie

i watched dis 3 months ago and i still dont thrust in dogs cuz of that T_T

  • poor dogs =(

  • Love this scene.

  • Thank you for posting the entire scene!!
