And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Qur'an) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-Fire).

 Ibn Masood (ra) said about this verse "I swear by the One other than Whom there is no God that it refers to singing [ghinaa].", and he repeated this three times.

I don't watch TV. Also it is haraam when you are listening to music. If you hear the music than you are not sinning because ones intention is that he isn't listening to it. You always try to avoid music ! There is a difference - you know !

I don't own a phone. If I did than I wouldn't use the music ringtones. I just would use the ringing alert. And no the ringing isn't music. Rather it is merely an alert a sound - like an alarm clock, police siren, etc.

All music is haraam. Even nasheeds are strongly disliked by the KIbaar Al Ulama. Modern day nasheeds are haraam. Don't be running your mouth with baseless desires - opinions about Islaam. The duff is allowed only between women in a private setting amongst other Muslim women for celebrating weddings or Eids. This is what is halaal and haraam. Only Ahl Al Bida'a Family of Innovation such as the sufis allow music. May Allaah Burn Them Alive ... Allaahum Ameen
