  • how do u hook it up to the camera if the camera doesnt have a mic imput

  • @FiveSprockets My buddy and I haven't ever made a video and we're finally doing one but we're clueless, instead of the grinder can we just zip tie it onto a hockey stick? i understand it wouldn't be flexible but we"re broke as hell...

  • Imma try this on my videis to see if tjey make a difference

  • I'm building mine with a rockband mic (better than guitar hero's) and pluging it into an ancient lap top while recording on audacity. The next thing we'll need to do is make a shock mount for the mic so you don't get sounds from the pole itself.

  • I'm rather surprised at how simple this is, I'm going to have to try this before I start my film to check how good it turns out. Thank you kindly ^_^

  • What does a boom mic work for all cameras? Because I have a VPC-GH2 from Sanyo and it doesn't have a plug for the adapter... well at least I don't think, are there any other type of adapter plugs for a camera.

  • What kind of camera did you plug it in to?

I've done a bit of research into cameras, and it seems like DSLRs are the way to go.

  • Thanks for this informative & entertaining video

  • people will tell you YOU NEED TO SPEND $1000 ON A MIC. ignore them.

  • I think this video needs a new top comment....

  • what kind of mic is it

  • so what does the microphone plug into?

  • Thank you!!

  • Put a furry sock on it!

  • what kind of mic did you use or what kind do you suggest cause I have a mic but it doesnt work at all as a boom mic

  • Proper foam-ish wind shields are also available for really cheap - cheaper than the fur stuff, even.

  • what if your camra dosent have a microphone adapter

  • @SoftninjaAir you conect that mic into a recorder and then you sincronized with your editing software

  • Thank you SOOOO much for posting this video

  • i bought my boom mic stand at best buy for $32

  • this is pretty good, but i would also suggest getting a shotgun mic off ebay, they are like 30 bucks, and a shit load better

  • Watch those power lines guys...

  • 44$ omg here in greek with 44 $ you can buy 4-5 microphones

  • Poor design, you still sound far away.

A proper boom or shotgun mic will catch noises from a distance and make them sound close. You're just taking a really poor cardiod and using a lot of gain on it.

Sounds like you're in a toilet.

  • why spend $44 trying to make one when you can go on amazon and get it for $17.97 plus the mic 2 dollars. or go on ebay and its $12.99 and shipping is free? I mean really waste 44 dollars when you can just buy one CHEAP!

  • I got my painter's pole with a plastic thread. I just melted the plastic thread over a stove and when it looked soft, I inserted it to the mic holding thing. Worked like a charm.

  • @FiveSprockets I can only find microphones with a 1/4'' attachment and I can't use an adapter, what could I do then?

  • i used a plastic painters pole and gorilla glue. worked just as well.

  • For those with no power sander, get a microphone boom stand from places like Sam Ash or Musicians Friend for about $18 or $20. You can use the mic stand if you don't have a person to hold the mic boom for you, by placing the mic below the frame, instead of above. And if you do have an extra grip around, take the boom off the stand. Mic holder will fit the first time, simply by screwing it on. Musicians Friend has inexpensive mics, too - several in the $10 - $13 range.

  • Do microphones only jack into professional movie cameras or are therer any of reference that may be used to plug into a camcorder, the one being a Sanyo Xacti?

  • Awesome tutorial, dude! This helps alot.

  • Hey, I followed the directions, and bought a mike much like your one. Its a good mike but when its placed above the heads o the actors it picks very little up, how can i fix this?

  • walmart use to have that mic (0:44) BUT THEY STOPPED SELLING IT WHEN I BROKE MY LAST ONE BY SUPERFAST WARE AND TARE BY ACCEDENT and WHEN I NEEDE ANOTHER ONE AND ITS A GOOD MIC TOO! now i'm using a logitech mono headset with on earbud and a mic hanging from the earbug wire -.- and a caseLOGIC desktop mic and it's not even on their site -.-".

  • How did you have it plugged in when the camera was so far away

  • wow douchebag, i never thought of using my thousands of dollars in heavy shop equipment to build things! you're movie sucks. why don't you sell that sander and get a real mic.

  • @dougerber

so he can piss people like you off for no reason :)

  • that doesnt work until you dont have a condenser mic instead of this cheap dynamic mic :D

  • how do you stop the mic from slipping?

    my mic holder slips alot.

  • @kiwiboy8492 its probally not the right sized holder, you could try using some zip ties and hold it in , or just glue it on the mic stand itself.

  • Nice video but my cheap camcorder does not have an audio in port so it sucks

  • @NoSueltesLaCuerda My camera doesnt have an audio in either. Not a lot do. What I did was I went to Best Buy and got a $55 digital voice recorder, and ran my mic into that. Then I just took the video and sound and synced it up later

  • that's nice man... that's gunna come in handy in me and my buddies movie. thanks man

  • youre typically gonna want to use a mic with a unidirectional (cardioid) pickup pattern so you dont pick up unwanted noise

  • whats that other mic called? the one u said that was a bit expencive?

  • what do you do if the mic clip breaks? I guess you make a new boom rig?

  • hey, what do i plug the boom mic into?

  • thanks helped alot

  • okay i'm going to take a shot at this! you better of hope this truly works. don't want your viewer mad at you for it not working. lol i'm just kidding. I'm not expecting it to work perfectly but I think it will work pretty good. good job showing how you made it!

  • LOL that is pretty cool.

  • cord cord did you say cord no no go wireless lol yep sounds like 10 buck J/K

  • You can get a cheap shotgun mic on ebay for about 15 bucks (from China) and i dont have one but ive heard that they have really good quality, they come with mic holders that can strap directly to a boom pole

  • i have on of those there really good

  • Good video, but the video quality is bad.

  • thanks a lot . i will try it then and let you know how it turns out

  • does it matter what kind of mic one uses?

could i do with a standard Shure stage mic?

  • You could definitely try that and it should work.

  • @boddahmusic shotgun mic works best

  • That still isnt a boom mic , normaly you use a shotgun mic

  • wow, a $10 microphone got all that quality?

  • They're getting better all the time.

  • so what if you don't have a power sander

  • Yeah, not everyone's got the resources of Joe ... I guess the point being made is to be as resourceful as possible.

  • @FiveSprockets Is there anything that I can use instead of that power sander?

  • @FiveSprockets Is there anything that I can use instead of that power sander?

  • @zliberm0 you could get a painters pole with a plastic nobby instead of metal

  • no shit mj died

    don't spam

  • cool!

  • nice, but once i got everything, how do i recrod??? cuz my mic has a guitar-like wire so i must connect to a guitar amplifier!!! and i don't know what to do to figure out this problem!!!

  • Get an mic adapter and you can plug it into the camera and then plug the mic into the adaptor

  • U bought the wrong kind of mic it would be labeled recording mic

  • lol u know there r adapters.

  • cool, but it's just so ass.

  • that was awesome! thanks man!
