I remember being a little kid and thinking this show's opening looked cool and had an awesome song. However, my parents banned me from watching "violent" shows.
Well...25 years later...saw the series on sale for 20 bucks. Bought it. And, I gotta' tell ya, it's lot better than some of the crap on TV these days.
@Atomicflash500 There were a few variations of the 1st season opening, but if you're wondering about the change in setting the story started in Chicago and as the season progressed it moved to Las Vegas. If you want particulars as to why I suggest you find a way to watch it (netflix, etc.) you will not be sorry, believe that!!
@Atomicflash500 This is the story of the Chicago Mob. Luca is a disguised Tony Spilotro (Joe Pesci in "Casino.") Instead of kind of dumping you in the middle of the story, it starts in Chicago. I do have to say this would have been a glorious time to live in Las Vegas.
Dennis was a Chicago Police Officer and the only actor that played a policeman that was a policeman. After 20 years on the job I retired. Dennis you are a GREAT actor and a mentor for guys on the job.
It's so rare that it all comes together like this did - great opening theme, great actors, great scenery, great period, great cars, great story ...loved it! Finally ordered DVD, pilot and series, time to treat myself to the good stuff that's so rare these days! Thanks!
@SRB427 - The Miami vice conections with this show- Farina appeared in 3 episodes, Smitrovich was in the MV Pilot Movie, the guy who played Paulie in CS was in a 2 part 1st season episode of MV, Michael Mann produced both shows...
Best TV show ever!!! I loved it like no other!!! Dennis Farina and the entire case was incredible!! Shame on NBC for cancelling it...I still miss it to this day!!!
@crg55555 I would suggest getting on ebay to buy the series on DVD. I've seen other posts from people who have already done this to complete their Crime Story library. I have most if not all of them on VHS, so I'm going to have to transfer them to DVD since VCR's are basically a thing of the past now. Nice to share your love of "real honest-to-goodness TV" It's rare these days based on the nonsense that's out there nowadays! Cheers!
Yeah it was a cliffhanger in case they got renewed agaion, just as Ray and Paulie in the desert with the bomb test (more or less redone in Indiana Jones 4) ended season 1.
I remember this tv series back in the 80's. Dennis Farina doesnt look as though he has aged alot now, except the grey hair! This tv series was a classic
hi to every one i am from kosovo i like very much USA dream cars from 50s and 60s,i have one chevy belair 1959 and also one ford galaxie fairline 500 from year 1959.greetings from kosovo i love USA...
Americans love those huge cars too. They're big, they're gorgeous, and when you drive a huge Caddilac or Pontiac, or a muscle car like the Dodge Charger, you feel a great sense of pride.
Unfortunately, they were also "gas-guzzlers". When they were first manufactured, gas was cheap. Then in the late 1970's, gas prices rose, and little Japanese cars became popular, and US auto plants began shutting down.
rejluca, my parents had a bright red 1965 Ford Mustang when I was growing up..I can stil remember the detials of the car inside and out. Little did I know back then that it would be come a collectable car someday. Thanks for the nice comment about the USA, good luck with your classic car collection! :)
I loved this show. It is in my humble opinion one of the best crime dramas ever on television. Crime Story was a combination of The French Connection and The Sopranos.
@crg55555 cheaper to buy the dvd set on amazon....well worth it!!! i bought my used and got a great deal on it....only two seasons...got to get them both!!

Hard to believe that Stephen Lang (plays the lawyer) in this series, which is still fun to watch is the crazy colonel in Avatar. He is super buff.

Actually Farina already had grey hair then. He dyed it for the first season. In season 2 he let it go back grey.

Super utwór w odpowiednim klimacie. Lata 60-te, Las Vegas, te auta (cudeńka) - wszystko przemija a szkoda. A poza tym świetny film.
