I remember when I bought the cassette in 1985 I was what 14, 15 something like that Damn how time flys. all thats left are tme great memories. thankx for the vid..
@Sche13e well, it's their first album...and we're talking about 1985...it wasn't so easy to find a good production team as today! Neil said this in their 'A Life In Pop' documentary
THIS VIDEO IS PART OF THE TIME OF YOUR HOME. AND IS THE GREAT timidly THAT NEIL WAS, BUT KEEPING ITS SIMPLE, sweetness, and beauty, "that to this day, preserved."
CHRIS IS a ray of sunshine! AND NEIL, "HEART IS A MAN! ... A dream made man! AND NOW, IN 2009 ... STILL BEAUTIFUL. And his talent, is refined every day. Are admirable! !!
see Chris lowe diss Neil about the hat at the start of the song!!! as in take in off!!! they so oppsosite to each other its ace!!! but after Very they did lose their misteeque!!!!!
i would love to copy him but what kind i'm talking about the hat i like and his songs =] i mean how did he become famous? it's just hard to start it's like i do know and i don't
No its just the way he presents himself he's so articulate, well spoken I use2 as a teen talk like him, he's gay, but it got me loads of girls!!!I do a good Neil impression lol!!!
Neil writes about how terible his performance is on this show. He blames it on a two hour delay in the first and second song....He drank 4 pints! He said he wanted this to be a single but this ruined it.
I think his voice is fine-the sound is a bit dodgy in places-Not one out of Morrissey, Neil Tennant,Nico, John Lydon, Ian Brown, Bernard Sumner, etc etc would make it through the 1st audition of Pop Idol, and theyre probably some of the most distinctive voices of the last 30 years.
I am glad this was posted here, so I can add it to my personal playlist that chronicles PSB's interviews over the years! :-) Thank you, Pertan!!! Keep watching the aircraft approaching Arlanda airport, because... Neil & Chris may be in one of those anytime!
... "You know when someone sings on the television and you say. 'Wow, she really can't sing'. This was my, 'Wow, he really really can't sing'. And during the drum break in the middle I couldn't think of anything to do, so I just turned my back on the camera. I thought they could film Chris."
Neil wasn't at all satisfied with how he sang on this show. Here's his comment on this (you can read this in the booklet of Please CD edition):
"...We than had to wait two hours, during which time I drank four pints of beer, than I had to sing 'Tonight is forever'. You have never heared anything worse in your entire life... "
I dont think you can get it in Normal version, it has to be in further listening or a special edition released with boolets. Please, Disco, Actually and one more i think.
it's such an original song this......can't think of were it fits in to any genre. Sheer brilliance and with a touch of icy sadness thrown in somewhere. Melancholy and sharp and evocative.....
Chris only plays a few notes over and over again and the rest must be programed or taped. They didn't have large hard drives to do that much back then.
Akai S1000 is a sampler. The only stuff stored on the hard drives were the samples themselves so they could be triggered by the samplers. The first tour used six of these plus 4 Roland MKS-50 synth modules and a Roland U-110, all driven from two Roland A-50 keyboards played by Chris and Dominic and two Roland MC500mk2 sequencers.
This should've been released as a single.

Absolutely love this. They were the days for music - the synthesizers, the lyrics, the tunes. Brings back fond memories.

What??? Large Hard drives?, Talk Sense man, its a backing track!!! Chris is Miming the bass line, which is normally run of a sequencer....

They used large hard drives to store most of their info.
Check out the machines section of their Performance tour book and you will see the following hard drives:
Ricoh HD
AKai S1000 HD
