  • Comment removed

  • johnrey if u saw this then what i tell this song is badass right!?

  • It has a faster tempo.

  • this song is brutiful.

  • Waaaaaaaaaay better than the version that's on Renegads of Funk!! I had this single when it came out, and I've always liked this one a lot more.

  • Please Who was Tom Joad??The song is great, but i dont know who was he..Can enyone tell my!!??Please!!?

  • Tom Joad walked around a railroad track. he sleeps by a camp fire from a sheltered corner. try The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Enough said..

  • @Mirkan1981 Tom Joad was the protagonist in Grapes of Wraith, I suggest you read it, it's arguable the best piece of American literature ever written.

  • @yellowkrux definitely is one of the best books i read it multiple times through HS

  • @yellowkrux Wrath....sorry. :)

  • @TheHSFT Whoops, Grapes of Wraith sounds like a NOFX song or something.

  • @yellowkrux That's a bold statement

  • @robzombay72 The only way you could claim that stating that The Grapes of Wrath is arguably one of the best pieces of literature the USA has ever produced is if you've never read it.

  • NEW WORLD ORDER

  • Read the book grapes of wrath by John Steinbeck my son.

  • @angiedavilatv in my social studies class, after we finished watching the grapes of wrath movie, our teacher played us this song along with the lyrics

  • @Robomasterman22 so did mine o_o

and we could sing it for extra credit

  • @Robomasterman22 That's fuckin' awesome!! What a teacher!!

  • @revolutionday1 he is pretty awesome

  • hopefully everyone here knows who tom joad actually was.

  • No I dont know , please tell me :S

  • @ZACKnirvana but me

  • @ZACKnirvana i cant like ur comment even more. cheers to u my friend. u r not alone.

  • @ZACKnirvana no, but i want to know. didn´t find something...pls don´t be angry, that I do not know!

  • @Tringi lol not angry :)

  • @ZACKnirvana

Greatest T-shirt I think I've ever seen was one of Che face just like the one Zach always wore with the wording underneath saying "I have no idea who this is". Made me chuckle.

  • @ZACKnirvana The tom joad from grapes of wrath?

  • @donny27dsm .you're right tom joad is the main character in the novel grapes of wrath written by John Steinbeck

  • @TheMoCrank I thought that was who you were talking about :)

  • @ZACKnirvana Grapes of Wrath!

  • @ZACKnirvana GUY from grapes of Wraith!!

  • @ZACKnirvana In this world, always about to be a fictional depiction of too many real men. When politicians pay heed to their corporate masters and not the people they tricked into vote for them we're all one step away from being migrant workers.

  • @ZACKnirvana haha no who?

  • @ZACKnirvana He was Batman...

  • @CommanderOfTheSun omg....yes! finally someone else knows.

  • @ZACKnirvana hes a symbol of resistance for weaker people against the MACHINE ahhhHHHHHHH!!!

  • @ZACKnirvana The Main guy from Grapes of Wraith

  • @ZACKnirvana

Fuck off you preening twat. The Grapes of Wrath reference only serves to set the stage as a parallel in modern times. You're missing the fucking point entirely. Instead of actually contributing something meaningful, you decide to use standard 5th grade literature to posture yourself as some sort of elite brain master. I wouldn't be surprised to find you smugly asking people who Ponyboy Curtis is or the fucking Very Hungry Caterpillar. The story is eternal. "Who he WAS?" GTFO

  • @coricidincrush what a waste of space you've caused. didn't even read any of that

  • @coricidincrush I couldn't agree more.

  • @ZACKnirvana because if they dont they are idiots? get over yourself.

  • @ZACKnirvana

    you're a dumbass.

  • @MrPunkandPissed why thank you MrPunkandPissed!

  • The Renegades version is the same recording/performance. Tom just added a second guitar for the Renegades version.

  • do you like RATM ?? visit ' age against the machine" tribute band

  • cheap advertisement

  • 10000% better than the Renegades version

  • I like their cover of Pink Cadillac more.

  • they did in the 25 aniversery of the rocknroll hall of fame

bruce springsteen and tom morello both sang and played the lead guitars and in my opinian

THEY KICKED ASS IT WAS AN AMAZING SONG DEFINENITLY ONE YOU SHOULD BUY ON ITUNES ITS A PERFECT SONG

  • I know, I tweaked out when I saw Morello come on stage. Awesome. They were almost doing dual guitars with each other. And the Renegades version is a lot better.

  • When I listen to them, they seem to have one emotion- rage. I guess it means they knew what they were doing when they picked the name. I saw Bruce on his "Devils and Dust" tour and to me, when he tries doing his solo acoustic stuff it ends up sounding too depressing. By the end, you turn yourself off to it or are looking for something to slit your wrists with. Some sort of ground in the middle of the two versions would get across the message of the song with the greatest impact. I think.

  • this isnt a great recording of their single version but i like it still

  • well, this cover is poor comparing to springsteen.

  • :O what a piece of c......

listen bruce's version, and bruce w/ tom morello...

  • u messed up a few lyrics

  • I like this v. better than the renegades ver.

  • dude this sound's like it's live?!

  • My favorite version of this song. the boss's version is good, but its too folk songish. This version has more grit and anger. Just my humble opinion.

  • It depends on what you like. I think this version really captures the essence of the book much better than Boss's version....at least the frustration of the Okies who were forced to move west only to be oppressed.

It captures the rage of Mr. Joad, who was to be a fighter for the oppressed

  • i like springsteen`s version alot better but this is still a good take on it,

  • I think Bruce's version is better, but I really like this song. Grapes of Wrath is an amazing book,

  • the original is a lot better but this is pretty awesome... still. Bruce is the fucking man and was all abou the working class long before rage came around.

  • Intresting fact about the bible no where in the bible does it say that 25th december is Christs Birthday. The assumption is made as the entire story was ripped off the story of a pagan sun god who was born in a stable in a manager etc, who was according to the myth born on the 25th december. The whole story of christ is just a rip off of another religion settles how much truth there is in it to me.

  • Rebublicans way of thinking

work hard to make your money fight and kill for your mother country. but don't forget AS SOON AS AMERICANS LOOSE THE ABILLITY OF FREEDOM THIS IS NO LONGER A FREE COUNTRY WE USED TO LOVE SO MUCH.

1.Freedom of speech. we still have

2.right to bear arms. not for long.

3.having to work hard for money. .....

  • Democrats way of thinking.

Give to poor people by taking from the rich. After a while the rich who make movies cars computers chemicals T.v s cameras and way more. are going to run out of money and they won't make that stuff anymore that includes food.then all the money that was given to the goverment make them very powerful so then they over rule the economy. wich means that every human looses free will no longer can we choose on our own.

  • If only people listened to us. I think it's a bit too late now, it's their "time". But, I'm fighting. Bush and Bilderburg you can both suck my fucking dick cuz you're gonna lose and we're coming for YOU.

  • Bush is Satan's toy, and Satan is DAVID ROCKEFELLER! Fuck the NWO

  • Okay first of all your not going to do shit to him. he is more important than you. no one gives a crap about your fucking opinion so you might as shut the fuck up. because bush isn't a fucking president anymore. obama is the president. you obiously a fuckin democrat because you say say your going to do something you know is never going to happen.

  • ok sure, i know he isnt president anymore dumb ass but he's still part of the organization. and im neather a dem. or a rep. because both parties are after the same exact thing. the new world order. and we are coming for them. i know they exist, i stayed in virginia for four days and i just got back 30mins ago actually. pretty funny cuz there was a masonic tower two blocks away with their emblem on it.

  • Well i am mostly rebublican. But i agree with some democratic opinions so i'm kinda in between i am certainly no ratical.

Oh and about the world order people in charge of the planet working together to try to keep the planet safe ain't good . to me i think it sound like the U.N don it . even the bible said this.the day when evry country binds together to make one is the day when the anti crist comes creepy very creepy.

  • The Bible says so! That must mean it's true!

Honestly, that book is nothing more then a fancy collection of fairy tales that a billion people believe in.

Say you believe in ghosts and fairies and witches you're crazy.

Say you believe in some invisible thing that made everything in 6 days.. and a guy that walked on water.. and died and was reborn..

Nah that's true, the bible says so. So those people aren't considered crazy.

    *endofrant*

i like bruce's version better but this one is nice =]

  • that means you agree with the world order correct. half the shit the bible said would happen did happen.and what you think its the only one who said. that would be bull cause the karahn and more books even the seven scrolls and the books of notradaumes and the mayans as well.even people possesed by demons have said this crap.but i never said the world would end.keep that in mind.o_O

  • If you have read the Grapes of Wrath, you fully understand this song and love it as I do

  • prefer original

  • New world order isnt really a conspiracy anymore.....Just look around you once in a while...

  • For some reason, every line of this song seems to have significant value, and RATM put a spin on this classic which I see as better than the original. The lines like "Wherever somebody is strugglin' to be free" hold especially high meaning in this particularly volatile world political atmosphere. Specifically, I'm thinking of Iran right now.

  • Such a good song, great cover! And yet the conspiracy theorist wakos go on and on about the "New World Order". This is why I hate conspiracy theorists. Just relax and listen to some excellent RATM music!

  • This is why I hate people who do not belive in it, because they pushed around like sheep and listen to our leaders. Have you seen Equilibrium? Your the type of person who would take the pill what the government told you, while we are the type who will refuse to, and fight for it.

  • but its because not enough people listen to rage that the new world order is a conspiracy

  • The New World Order isn't a conspiracy anymore, It's been proven to be real, look around, watch the news cuz they speak about it there too. Bush's father even talked about it. Wake up buddy.

  • I like it excpt for the delay on De la Rocha's vocals. its good, but i think it would be better without the dealy

  • nah i think the delay is a real important part to the song, hes singing bout the ghost of tom joad, the delay adds to the whole feel of the song by making zach seem a bit distant, like off in the fog at night or something

  • Great cover, RATM kicks ass!!

  • No, your just a stupid fag who lives in the 70's and 80's. Grow up and wake up to what is happening in this country.

  • is there any reason why a person cant love rage and still listen to led zeppelin, metallica, shit like that. i like all that music. nirvana, foo fighters, rage, guns n roses, van halen...etc

  • one of the best covers EVER

  • @gorgoroth Fucking Rights not to often the cover better, But "Tom Joad" and "Live and Let Die" redone by Guns&Roses is another though

  • @gorgoroth It comes after Maggie's Farm

  • I think when they say "welcome to the new world order" it is more ironic than saying that there's a new world order conspiracy. Springsteen was basically saying, "you call this a new world order?"

  • I <3 RATM

  • me dos!

  • I hate metal but rage is just too good and its awesome that they play good oldschool songs like this and Maggy's farm

  • i'm "old school" and in my opinion rage (Morello kicks ass) did an awesome version of a Springsteen classic.

  • This is an AWESOME track !

  • That corporate shill Springsteen should be grateful RATM made something great out of his words. Rage would NEVER limit their music to WALMART. Bruce sucks the biggest one available.

  • it kills me that ppl think bruce can sing, if anything he's just a good songwriter. its like sayin bob dylan or jimi hendrix is known for singin... ridiculous just listen to the words and the tune man

  • But Zack doesn't sing in this does he? Twat.

  • ur sooo stupid and you apparently don't know what good music is.

  • So "good music" is not about SINGING, but about TALKING, as De La Rocha always does? Good to know.

Luckily there are enlightened minds like you to show the way to us stupids.

  • lol, You think he is just talking, mmkay, you go up on stage in front of thousands and sing your ass off. I got $500 that you get booed off stage.

  • Obviously not, Rage did it all the time with hundreds of thousands, and didn't get booed of the stage, but did encores. Wake up stupid fuck, the 70's and 80's are over. Wake up and stand up, because were in a crysis.

  • o_o i'm not even sure how your comment is relevant, But I LOVE IT

  • There tempo goes back and forth like Led Zepplin don't it.

  • I Personally like this version better, Bruce's version with Tom Morello, that's a different story

  • My god people..chillax. Just stfu and enjoy some good RATM \m/

  • I seen R.A.T.M. at the old maple leaf gardens... they came on stage, never said a word, and wailed for two hours strait. No breaks... It was insane.

  • Why is it that all my idols at some point in their careers mention N.W.O or 2012 or the illuminati or stonemasons or some shit related to it? There's gotta be some substance there.

  • I never once heard RATM mention N.W.O or 2012. That's ludicris.

  • 1:12 Nub.

Although I think it may have been taken from a Bruce Springstien song, because this is a cover.

  • Nahh... really? LOL, of course it's a cover, "RAGE" is a covers album. And no, it's not nubbish, actually it's brilliant...

  • Comment removed

  • Well, ask yourself why they chose to cover a song that was written about an Orwellian police state.

Did I say that this was rubbish? O.o

It's one of my favorite songs by RATM.

  • Yeah, it's a great cover, one of my favorites from RATM too. I didn't say "rubbish", I said "nubbish", in return of what you said (1:12 Nub). But now I realize you are a truly fan, which is cool.

  • There is a New World Order, and I'll be damned if RATM doesn't know it!

  • I both agree and disagree with ParkSlopeYuppyToilet.

No, I don't believe in the NWO conspiracy, I'm not paranoid enough to believe that all of the world's leaders are plotting against me.

However, the fear of martial law, and the culling of our freedoms are are very legitimate fears.

Everywhere you look our liberties are being taken away in the name of homeland security.

But I also believe that people are so pacified that an Orwellian future would serve no purpose.

  • not really orwellian at all. Tom Joad is the main character in the book The Grapes of Wrath. historically accurate, not orwellian at all. that's the way it was during the depression

  • Thank you. "welcome to the new world order" it's clear as day.

  • for real. wat?

  • Why are they communist, that's no way to true liberty.

Correct me if I'm wrong on the communist part.

  • EPiC FAiL

  • No they are not communist.

  • Have they stated a specific political subscription?

  • Each member of the group is his own unique individual, so flat out saying what specific ideology the group as a whole follows is too general. We do know, however, that Zack de la Rocha is an anarchist while Tom Morello claims himself to be a socialist. That doesn't mean that they are communist. Communism is WAY different from anarchism and socialism. You also have to take into account of their political influences, ranging from Che Guevara, NZLA, to even George Orwell.

  • i think the album version is better. zach sings better on it

  • Once you take the pills, you become a part of the machine

    Resist!

  • screw the system

  • welcome to the New World Order

  • down with the nwo!!!!!

  • ACCEPT THE SYSTEM!

  • This version is more mellow in my opinion because the sound seems muffled, like it was recorded analog first and then digitized I guess. It doesn't have the fancy effects of a studio recording.

Either way, not to rain on the Boss's parade, I think Rage did a better job because this song to me is better as a fiery funk metal sermon for a stadium more than a somber folk monologue heard in a coffeehouse.

    That's my opinion, nothing more.

    I love this song.

  • as I was a child I misheard "you'll see me" as "no tv!" XD my mother's words are the lyrics...LOL

  • "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

  • everyone here shut the fuck up.like u can cover this song better.lol and if u think u can post a video and see you get hated on.anyways this song rules!

  • i like pennis a lot

  • nigga please...

  • AWESOME

  • way to kill a great bruce song

  • too bad you can't see great music when it is right in front of you.

  • I'm not saying they're a bad band. I a bunch of rage songs. But I'm a Bruce fan who happens to think this is a horrible rendition of his song. Even if this wasn't originally a bruce song and it was a rage original I would be writing on here "not the best rage song".

  • It's in Gods word, the Bible.

  • this isn't a great song, you should check their other stuff.

  • ya.. devils like you who support the new world order HATE this music.
