I think Terra's green hair was just to add variety to the players sprites. at the time there was not that much detail into each character. so it was difficult to make each sprite resemble every particular character. same goes with Kefka. i think he didn't look much like a gesture he looked more like a king of some sort. although if you watch the video and look at all the drawings of him that they made they look alot different.
Who can resist not humming along with this theme? Anyways, I wasn't even aware that this was Terra's official theme, I just thought, "Man, this is one kickass world map song."

Back then, it had a much smaller budget and the same design team, and they knew what they wanted to do with the game.. Now, with so many different people working on it, someone always has to make it what THEY want it to be instead of pleasing the fans and emulate a mix of the new and old that the fans want..
@Iconoclast6750 To add to your response, I think FF lost its way in large part to the advance in graphics. FF XIII for example is gorgeous, but so much effort has to be put into that sort of graphical level that story and game play tend to get neglected. I am fine with the developers not always "pleasing the fans:" people gotta take risks. But there is so little effort put on plot, and the symbolic inversions tend to be obvious in the more recent games.
@Hektor88 I agree with that to.. That's another big part of it.. I don't think the plot (as it is on paper anyway) is bad in FF XIII, I just think the dialogue and character interactions are awful.. You basically have to read the "data log" to understand the story completely because the characters do such a poor job of explaining it. I shouldn't have to read a data log for the storyline to make sense. Isn't that the reason they're spending all that extra money on voice actors?
I remember I used to hate old video games. Normally, I wouldn't go anywhere near a game this old. Then I listened to this theme, and I immediately signed up for GameFly, and rented this game. Best choice I ever made. Long live FF VI.
When I'm tired and want to give up when I'm working out. I listen to this masterpiece. I remind myself of Terra and how she never quit and she was a better person for that. So I too won't quit.
I recently bought this on Virtual Console, gotta say its my favorite SNES Games, and one of the best I ever played, such an epic storyline and characters

Look, it's nice to play the translation of the Japanese version to get the more mature dialogue and all that, but guess what's not nice? The names. Tina is supposed to be really "exotic" in Japan. It isn't in English. Terra sounds better IMO. Also, Sabin's Japanese name is Mash.

@talesfangirl FF VI is a wonderful game, it was the first FF I played and I played it upon it's release in the united states, it is also the only one I have ever beat, I usually get far to bored near the end of the other games.. Anyways if you can put aside you're love for CGI and it's low tech Graphics you my find that the Story it tells is one of the best and far out does FF7.. That is my opinion though.

If you want to hear themes of the same kind, I compose of it regularly. I try to make musics which highlight the feelings and I have some of it which are estimated. You can already go to listen to it on my channel.

It all depends on each individual. Some will find FFVI to be better than VII or vice versa, simply because the aura they felt when playing the game was stronger to connect to. So saying "could not come close to the magic that VI had" is quite the ignorant statement.
But don't worry. Your unique emotion towards FFVI is a blessing to cherish.
i never gave a damn about the graphics in video games. The thing i look for most in video games is game play, then story line,then music, and fianally graphics which i don't care about.
Actually, the Final Fantasy series was created because the maker of it couldn't make very exciting gameplay so he decided to focus on telling a great story instead. So story should be number 1 when it comes to Final Fantasy games.

This was the very first final fantasy i played.. OMG! the love of playing this wit my door open letting the winter air in while the christmas tree is next to me and i hear this theme i loved it as a kid lol it wasnt my cartridge some kid lent it to me i remember seeing the 3 mogs on the snes cartrige... when i played it i instantly fell in love and i never forgot this song!
This game was made in a era where nothing could go wrong most of us who played it were but children blind to the world and we engulfed ourselves into a limitless world filled with many emotions. Just hearing a song from this game brings tears to my eyes as I remember playing this every day smiling and having fun as a child.. Square hasn't made a game inspire that in me since they formed Square-Enix.. Just think of this.. FFVI is one of the best games around BECAUSE of it's level of emotion. :)

About the modern FF games since everyone is talking about them;
First time i heard the story of FF12, i thought, "This will be great game, story seems to be great". I kept watching trailers and stuff until the release date came. I went and bought the game. I start the game and then i hear it.... The opening theme... It was the first thing that crushed my dreams of a great game. most memorable things in older FF's are soundtracks and opening scene. Not in the new games tho
FF12 had a new battle system, which was cool for the first few hours of the game. Then i started to miss all the strategies i always made in the old games to beat the bosses. In FF12 it seemed to be all about running away and healing whenever you can. No more potions to zombies. No more killing monsters in 12 turns just to avoid giga gravija. All bosses also had pretty much immunity to everything. Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay, Its all about gameplay.
I remember playing this game when it came out. I remember playing the remake watching the mechs walk in the snow with this playing. Today I listen to this and I wonder how it is that we had the formula right back then: Great gameplay + Great Story + Great Soundtrack = Great Game. Somehow between the then and now we have FUBAR'd that formula and leave people wondering when will we get back to the basics?
If you didn't get chills when you first heard this song during the opening credits, you're just not human. (Or you have different tastes in music than me, but um... that doesn't count!)
@mcdonkey500 when it comes to games "good" and "bad" are opinions nothing more nothing less. I will say this however, the new battle system makes it feel like your running a bot on the game.
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's someone who says they're complaining "on behalf of all fans", when they really want to see what they themselves want. If you honestly want to see FF games like the old ones, buy the remakes. In fact, 5 is probably going to be remade next year. Now, about the actual song, I find it pretty cool that this was confirmed for Theatrhythm.
Oh my god, this song brings back so many awesome memories. Makes me wanna find old my gameboy and once again go on that incredible journey with Terra, Locke, Edgar, Cyan and the rest. FF VI is such an amazing game!
I've lost faith in the newer games in the series, I just wish I could turn back time to when I was excited that a new Final Fantasy game was coming out... Sadly I'm not so lucky!
I truly enjoyed this game. I just replayed it through again a couple weeks ago. It was super fun! Now on to FFT on PS One. Fun!! All they need to do is remake this game with a few minor updates and with todays graphics and it will be awesome!

Best game I've ever played in my life.
The game industry NEEDS to realize that a good story will be immortalized as art, never to be forgotten. But a good gameplay will always be outdone by the next batch of generic shooters pouring out of the biz equivalent of the anus.

Kefka is way more sadistic than Sephiroth, but Sephiroth killed Aerith which is still the most devastating moment I've ever experienced in gaming.

This was the very first final fantasy i played.. OMG! the love of playing this wit my door open letting the winter air in while the christmas tree is next to me and i hear this theme i loved it as a kid lol it wasnt my cartridge some kid lent it to me i remember seeing the 3 mogs on the snes cartrige... when i played it i instantly fell in love and i never forgot this song!

This game was made in a era where nothing could go wrong most of us who played it were but children blind to the world and we engulfed ourselves into a limitless world filled with many emotions. Just hearing a song from this game brings tears to my eyes as I remember playing this every day smiling and having fun as a child.. Square hasn't made a game inspire that in me since they formed Square-Enix.. Just think of this.. FFVI is one of the best games around BECAUSE of it's level of emotion. :)

About the modern FF games since everyone is talking about them;
First time i heard the story of FF12, i thought, "This will be great game, story seems to be great". I kept watching trailers and stuff until the release date came. I went and bought the game. I start the game and then i hear it.... The opening theme... It was the first thing that crushed my dreams of a great game. most memorable things in older FF's are soundtracks and opening scene. Not in the new games tho

FF12 had a new battle system, which was cool for the first few hours of the game. Then i started to miss all the strategies i always made in the old games to beat the bosses. In FF12 it seemed to be all about running away and healing whenever you can. No more potions to zombies. No more killing monsters in 12 turns just to avoid giga gravija. All bosses also had pretty much immunity to everything. Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay, Its all about gameplay.

I remember playing this game when it came out. I remember playing the remake watching the mechs walk in the snow with this playing. Today I listen to this and I wonder how it is that we had the formula right back then: Great gameplay + Great Story + Great Soundtrack = Great Game. Somehow between the then and now we have FUBAR'd that formula and leave people wondering when will we get back to the basics?

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's someone who says they're complaining "on behalf of all fans", when they really want to see what they themselves want. If you honestly want to see FF games like the old ones, buy the remakes. In fact, 5 is probably going to be remade next year. Now, about the actual song, I find it pretty cool that this was confirmed for Theatrhythm.

I truly enjoyed this game. I just replayed it through again a couple weeks ago. It was super fun! Now on to FFT on PS One. Fun!! All they need to do is remake this game with a few minor updates and with todays graphics and it will be awesome!
