  • hahha,id make him know my knife

  • I did see one documentry where they got some animal experts involved and they said that it sounded like a hammerhead bat, though how it got to america and survived they don't know. Looking at hammerhead bats you really can see the similaritys to the descriptions given of the Jersey Devil, so I'd say its definatly a possibility. I think the documentary is still on youtube somewhere, but I can't remember what its called. :( I'll look for it though if you want?

  • if you haven't heard of the jersey devil story, you're living underneath a rock. i live in jersey and i heard the story when i was 5. the story i heard is different form the native american & 13th child tale though. i heard that a woman had promised her 5th son to the devil, and when she refused, the devil cursed her son.

  • @Yrluv4ever Well I've never heard the native american thing, but I've heard about the Jersey Devil even over here in England. :) We don't have anything that cool I don't think. We've got Pookas and Black Shucks, but nothing as scary as J.D.

  • @HaloBlack01 - Native American's do not believe in devils, they believe in spirits so that information in the story is incorrect. The Jersey Devil story is about as much nonsense as your Pookas and Black Shucks. If there is such a thing.

  • @VirgilB01 Well I haven't seen a Pooka or a Black Shuck yet, but such storys were made up in times where you only had to have a squint and you were labled as a witch. Though if I see one I'll let you know! lol! Myths like this do seem to have some basis in truth though. Sadly the Jersey Devil was probably just a poor deformed little baby, the birth of which coinsided with some big bird siteings and some superstisiouse idiots. Its is an interesting story though, good camp fire material.

  • @HaloBlack01 - In other stories about the Jersey Devil, Mother Leeds was considered a "witch" by the community. It was not uncommon in those days just removed from the Salem Witch Trials. Most areas were mostly Protestant laden with lack of knowledge. She ( Leeds) was know to collect "herbs" possibly used for her "witchcraft" People in those days learned to make "remedies" from the pines for certain illnesses and "cures" in which the people didn't understand. Knowledge was passed down from the -

  • cont) Indians in the area (Lenni Lenape ). Another story claimed Mrs. Leeds kept the devil in the attic or the basement until it "broke free" either flying out the "chiminey" or "window" after killing the entire Leeds family or the "children" as some stories report. Most people if they had a "deformed" child kept them out of sight from the public due to shame. It ( Devil) was born "normally" and later "deformed" or born "deformed" depending on the story. -

  • The description of the "devil" as seen by some claim it had a "long neck" "horses head" (or something similar) "webbed feet" (or cloven hooves) "Long" or "legs of a crane" and huge wings ( or bat wings) some claimed to the devil emitting screams "like a woman" or "shrill bark". The "Sand Hill Crane" that was a bird that fit many descriptions of the Jersey Devil. It had a long neck with loud call like a "shrill" or bark. It had a wingspan of 15-20 ft. and hated Man.-

  • It had nest along the rivers and swamps of the pines where the devil was usually seen. It would sometimes attack Man if approached nesting areas or mating areas. Some stories claimed to be attacked by the devil. So there are some basis in truth. Going home in the pines late at night in a stagecoach from a tavern from a night of drinking and dancing was pretty scary in those days where some have claimed to met the devil.

  • there are many animals that can mutilate human bodies none of which are a fake made up jersy devil

  • i think this is nothing but a crock of bull trying to scare ppl into not going in the woods... sounds like the Blair witch project lmao!! how can a child that was born of flesh and blood turn into a demonic being???

  • @angelgirl7473 Not possible for that to happen. Its just not possible for a child or anything for that to happen at birth

  • i heard of this well duh because i live in NEw Jersey

  • peculiar animal the jersey devil...

  • THE VOLUME SUCKS!!!

  • looks like lady gaga

  • Bat-man.

  • #LOL

  • ppl get over it thats not the real story the story is.......... A LADY LIVED IN A HOUSE FAR INSIDE A WOODED AREA(I FORGOT WHERE) AND SHE LIVED WITH 12 CHILDREN SHE WAS PREGNANT AND SHE DIDNT WANT TO HAVE 13 CHILDREN SO WHEN THAT ONE WAS BORN SHE LAYED A CURSE ON IT TO BE A UGLY DEVIL WITH A HORSE HEAD AND HORSE HOOFS, BAT WINGS, HUMAN BODY, AND A REPTILE LIKE TAIL.

  • i saw this movie when i was 8 it scared me so much #LOL now im 15 and i still love it and its funny.

  • ELI VANCE? IS THAT YOU?

  • @daedalus2048

    WAS JUST THINKING THAT :D

  • i believe that its some animal that lived long ago like in the mezonic era and survived the mass extinction and evolved. later it could have been chased by predators and native americans into the pine barrens and stayed hidden from us for centuries.

  • i hated this movie, as an avid believer of the jersey devil, this movie was a joke to me. the devil itself looked like the beast from angel season 4

  • really this is kind cool joking

  • When was this released?

  • The reason the legend was changed was because the people in the areas they were filming in took offense to the portrayal of the Jersey Devil as a vicious monster. So, instead of risking legal trouble or anything like that, they altered the legend. IMO, this version is far better, for a horror movie, than the original legend. Unfortunately, this new legend wasn't handled very well, and seemed to take a backseat to all the not-so-subtle animal rights stuff. Which I could've had a crack at it.

  • but.... I thought the jersey Devil was a vicious monster?? ( a pure demonic at that!)

  • Nope. There are no reports of it ever having attacked or killed anyone. In fact, in most of the cases it's seen, it seems to want to avoid confrontation, either by scaring people away or running away itself. Some people claim that it kills pets and livestock, but Black Bears are native to New Jersey, so they could be the real culprits. That's not to say the Jersey Devil(if it exists)isn't dangerous, it just hasn't really "proven" itself to be aggressive.

  • some days i believe he's not real but i still get the chills when im going thorugh the pine barrens

  • my cousin lives around that area

  • It's either a giant bat, or maybe a nature spirit that Europeans have pissed off by killing most of the Native Americans.

  • I pooped my pants

  • I thought this was a movie. So this is a documentary movie about something that people believe excists? Never heard about this one before. Should be interesting.

  • It is a movie only the beginning shows documentary parts in the moviescript.

  • @speakingtruly its what ppl call a mockumentory..like the blair witch project, csa, etc

  • @speakingtruly i lived just outside the pine barrens for 6 years. its real. frankly i have no evidence other then the feeling of wanting to piss my pants hearing the growl and seeing the eyes, but yea, whether its the "jersey devil" i dont know, i do know there is something out there and it's not normal

  • @speakingtruly same here

  • Is this the real movie???

  • I guess so. However never saw it be4.

  • Yes, this is the real official movie. If this is true or not I don't know. I guess all movies are altered to attract viewers but in everything, whether movie or story, there are some facts which are true.

  • Yepp agreed.

  • i've lived in New Jersey for 28 years i've never seen the devil but I have heard his cry its unlike anything you'll ever hear

  • Hey. Iam a spiritualist. I've called after 'dark-grey' spirits. And I stopped since I had ACCIDENTALLY called after a demon. Trust me. I don't need to hear the Jersey devil's cry, I already hear something much worse. One thing for sure is that in Russia is something similar to a Jersey Devil, but instead is a woman with weird nose(animals) I guess and wings. Don't know about the hair. And people told that her scream is terrifying.

  • could that happen to be a Banchi by any chance?

  • I have no idea. But hunters were terrified. It could be anything.

  • i'm italian so im not pretending to have any deep knowledge of native americans and their culture. however, ive taken enough vacations and spoken to many culturally rooted native americans from the pawnee, lakota, sioux, and others. the jersey devil is from the 18th century white woman devil3203 mentiond, and even though arafel1964 uploaded this for our amusement, and i say amusement cuz this movies so bad its funny , people really gota stop explaining everything supernatural "native american"

  • well as a native new jerseyiani have say the directors and screen writers didn't do their research on the NJ DEVIL considering the devil came from Mrs. Leeds not some native american tribe.

  • Comment removed

  • alot of videos have thier facts wrong.

    The jersey devil was born to Mrs.Leeds.

    His name was Smith J. Leeds.

    He was her 13th Child, so she cursed him to transform into the devil at birth.

    They executed him at the age of two.

    he was born on 1890.

    dont the math.

  • so why do people still think there's a jersey devil around at this time ?

  • Maybe also because there are still new eyewitnesses every year?

  • According to the legend, he was born in 1735 to a "Mrs. Leeds" some say that he was born to a "Mrs. Shrouds" in Leeds Point, N.J. He was cursed at birth and then born normally then changed into a devil-like creature. wherein he killed most of the family members and then flew up the chimney out into the woods. He terrorized the Pine Barrons for over 200 Years, Killed dogs, children, chickens,etc. I live near Leeds Point.

  • thats interesting. I thought he only killed his moms midwife? Anyway, i'm a bit of a cryptozoologist and a big fan of the Jersey Devil. Maybe we could talk sometime.

  • Comment removed

  • I hear its a popular theory among other cryptozoologists that its an entire species that tends to avoid humans, and thats why its been seen since the 18th century. Sounds logical to me.

  • thank you for your comment. Until now I've never had any energy or interest to seek after information behind this movie. But...an entire species??? I'm curious about what kind of species it might be and if it is true.

    What I do know; there's more between heaven and earth than a man can see with the naked eye.

  • @ghostsurfer666 yeah but a species of what?

  • @stoneman472 Thats the thing about a new/unkown species. We don't know the "what" yet.

  • @ghostsurfer666 What if it's like the sea turtle and can live a long time?It was reported to be semi-reptilian after all.

  • @huricane887 Thats also possible.

  • @VirgilB01 because its a devil

  • @cbaynori82 - There is no such thing, pure nonsense.

  • @VirgilB01 Because it had kids?

  • @DollyGymnastics567 - What do you mean? Who or what had kids?

  • @VirgilB01 the jersey devil

  • @DollyGymnastics567 - No, there's no evidence that it has offspring.

  • thx alot man. i always wanted to watch this

  • this has nothing to do with a native american. the devil was the deformed child of an 18th century white woman.i was born and raised in south jersey,i know the story as well as any other person from the area. why does everything bad or unexplainable have "native american" it the description. give me a break.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~from a hunkpapa lakota
  • Yes, I know. I just uploaded the movie as amusement. I did not wish to insult the Wise People of Turtle Island. I have utmost respect to all the Natives and especially to the Natives of Turtle island.
    I do not wish to call it America since it was the name given from those who colonised the land.
  • This is a great show, thanks for posting it! (smile)
  • October 31 is my birthday :-)
