@Jason2323232 Whether Finland is part of Scandinavia is a never ending topic of discussion. We here up north tend to prefer the term 'Nordic' to cover the five nations: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Finland (plus some other related areas Greenland, etc) - 'Scandinavian' is reserved to the first four as all have their first official language derived from the Old Norse - Finnish is totally unrelated to them.

But who am I to dictate how native English speakers use and define their words ;)

Aw, this is so cute :D Finland is however not Scandinavian, refer to the name ^^ Plus, I don't get why many finns claim they hate/dislike Swedes and Sweden, because of things in the past..? Can someone please explain? :)

Yes Finland is not Scandinavian, it is just a name of a band ( there is actually lot of bands who has names which are not totally accurate for examample band called Architecture in Helsinki are actually people not buildings and they are not even in Helsinki). Nobody really hate Swedes, there can be some neighbourly competitive feelings. I quess it is More like love hate relationship.

I hope not! However, since Sweden usually don't get that competetive towards Finland (except in Icehockey sometimes I guess..), it can get confusing and it turns into Finnish "hate" towards us which we most of the time don't fight back.. One example is the Icehockey world-cup where Finland won in the finals against Sweden with 6-1; We didn't get as upset as you probably thought or wished we would. I mean, sure we didn't win, but we actually came second! :)

@FirbenStrid That's a fact that Finns are not Scandinavian, but we certainly don't _hate_ Swedes. We just don't particulary like them, and that's due to certain historical events. Like username Boldenberg said, many Finns in the west have a lot genes inherited from Swedes and do speak Swedish!:D

+ I don't get how not being Scandinavian and hating Swedes are related..:D
