the point is to improve performance and power while reducing emissions significantly. that's the luxury hybrid trend. Honestly, how much gas is used isn't what harms the environment. it's the amount of emissions being released that harm it. So in realness, gas mileage really doesn't matter as long as your emissions are adequate.
Unless I am misinterpreting what you are saying, in America that is a false generalization. Hybrids as a whole get far better gas mileage and emissions ratings than diesels SOLD HERE. Now, if I was in the market for a high end SUV I'd get an X5 35d, but I certainly would tip my hat to the guy driving the RX450h for driving a much more environmentally friendly car.
hybrids are less environmentally freindly. Look at the mining for the battery elements. Look at the freighting of battery contents to battery production. Look at the freighting of the completed car to its selling destination. Freighting polutants are not regulated and produce much more polution per peice of shipment. I agree Diesel is much greener. Less carbon foot print on the planet.
If forced to speculate I'd say that you took that right from Jeremy Clarkson's mouth.
Times are changing. The hybrid components now are brought about in much cleaner methods than they were, even a few years ago. Look at FG's clip of the Prius, where they claim that it is in fact very good for the environment. Also, you CANNOT forget that diesels pollute much more than the hybrids IN OUR COUNTRY!! The EPA gives the Prius a 9.5 for air pollution, the Jetta, 7. Can't argue that.
@bg1379 not necessarily just him, but other media outlets have reported this too. Just asking here, what other cost effective methods would they be bringing the material in from? I agree about hybrids over diesels in one area, that is idle CO2, and I think this 'stop start' tech needs to be brought in over every car line IMO, but w/ diesel particulate filter, it really helps. Again there are pros's and cons to every tech, and thank you for intelligently debating. It is hard to do this on YT!
17mpg and 19mpg... what's the point of being hybrid? that battery is just added weight.. 6000lb? this is a joke..

Hey Steve why did you disable the comments option on your 2010 Camry review?
I like your videos because you are very accurate in what you say and you don't play games with your viewers!

@ssj4goldengogeta Although gas mileage does matter if you are economically minded. Well, one cant have the best in every thing. Even with cars.
