Most people who come from cultures where hips are extensively used—whether from Africa, the South Pacific, or the Middle East—all say the same thing about Shakira: SHE'S NOT TALENTED—JUST THE INDUSTRY'S TOKEN WHITE GIRL.

I'm tired of repeating myself in clarifying the point of this video.

From now on if anybody posts comments that reflect they didn't invest very much mental power into comprehending the point of it and bring up unrelated topics of "afrocentricity" or "ethnocentricity" you'll just get deleted.

The point of this video is MY OPINION and MANY OTHERS, but everyone's entitled to their personal opinions.

The industry could take the ugliest, least talented person and MARKET them as "beautiful and sexy "and people would be stupid enough believe it. On the flip side the industry could take the most beautiful, talented person and market them as "ugly" and "untalented" and the dumbed down public would believe that too.

People just accept things according to however it's PORTRAYED and MARKETED to them, they can't think for themselves nor do they create their own standards, they let society do it.

Shakira can't sing; she writes her own songs, but they're ugly songs, she attempts to belly dance but she's terrible at it. Yet, the media picks her to market as the image of "sexiest performer" as if she is the first performer to do this and the best at it just cuz she's a White hispanic and people believe it.

If MEDUSA got on stage shook her rattle snake and bulged her green eyes, and the media marketed her as "sexiest performer" people would actually be stupid enough to believe that too. Oh, but first, the media would make sure to do one thing—paint her green skin white, make sure the snakes in her hair are blond, and make sure her green bulging eyes are blue bulging eyes. LOL!!

My culture is sweet, we originated all the dances Shakira does on stage—and are much better at it. So no, stop your wishful thinking, there is NOTHING to envy of Shakira.

And I wasn't talking about her lyrics, her lyrics are fine. I said her SINGING is UGLY. And I don't need to learn spanish to tell her singing is ugly.

To put it simply, I don't care if she invented it, made it popular, is "stealing" it, is the only one who uses it, or whatever. I know none of that is true. That is not why I like what Shakira does. She does her thing. If the media or fans want to overrate it, that's their mistake. I cannot blame Shakira for just trying to make it.

"Shakira didn't invent belly dancing," "She's half lebanese," "Thanks to Shakira the world became exposed to it," or "Thanks to Shakira because she made it popular."

That's the whole problem and the point of this video—she didn't make it popular nor is she the first entertainer or only current entertainer who dances like that worldwide.

There are TONS of dancers & singers way better than her who move like that—AND DO IT CORRECTLY—but since they're not white, they get no media attention. But the media waits for the "white girl" to come along before they decide to bring such traditional dance moves to mainstream entertainment.

There are a lot of other entertainers who actually ARE TALENTED AND DESERVE HER SPOT.

THAT'S THE POINT.

Belly dancing has been done in the Arabic & Mediterranean cultures forever. While Africans do have their native dances I've never seen any that resemble Shakira's moves. thotsins it just seems like u don't like anyone who's not black...
