Neither, its somwhere in between; if you are planning to use a filter you would have to buy an adaptor. I got mine from lensmate and you can fit 58 mm filters without any problem
when i try to put a video on my computer; i plug in the camera with a USB but it only reconizes things as pictures; it won't let me upload a video- someone help me!!!!
i had the same problem w/ my computer. i had 2 upload this video player from online....... it was free but sort of confusing for me. i am no computer wizard.... so sorry if this didnt help at all :( but just trying 2 help :) i hope u can figure it out :)
Yes, you can take pictures while recording video. It'll save it as a separate image, but it will also be a still in the middle of the video like you see in this one.
i wouldnt say AA batteries are a Neg.. Its a Pos in a way because If you run out of juice, You can find AA batteries anywhere. and you can always use rechargeable AAs
it depends on how often you use it. If you're going to be using it a lot, you'll probably get a couple days out of it. It lasted me maybe three or four days when I first bought it. One good thing is though, it runs on AA batteries, so you can just change them out. And you can buy some rechargeable AA's if you want to be able to charge instead of keep buying new batteries. S'what I'm gonna do.
Not just any macro mode. The SX10 can focus at the point of lense contact. There is no closer than than that. Many cameras are rated 1 to 5 cm or more. The SX10 is as close as it gets for macro purposes.
So glad I asked for this for Christmas! You have sold me...and may I ask, are you from Massachusetts, because the landscape totally reminds me of home to me!
Wow--I've also been through 3 cameras in 3 months and can't find one I like.. the comments and reviews on this one seem to sell me on it. Thanks!!! I'm hope you're not all Canon salespeople! :-)
hey three questions if you dont mind, can you zoom optically in video mode?, Are you impressed widh picture quality comared to similar cams? and finaly are there distortions in high optical zoom pics? i think am getting this cam.
Yeah, you can zoom optically in video mode. I did find out something interesting. Because you can record video in any camera mode, how far you zoom depends on what mode you're in. If you're in landscape, you can zoom as far as in this video. In portrait or something like that, you can't zoom as far.
I very much like the picture quality. I haven't taken a lot of high optical zoom pics so far, but I'm not noticing anything that's bothering me. I'd have to say go for it! It's a great camera.
Yeah, it lets you take pictures while you're recording. I took one in this video ( 1:04 , 1:05 ish) just to show what it looks like. It'll save the picture as a picture separately from the video, but it also leaves it in the video as well, the way it is in this one. Pretty cool feature, in my opinion.
i am considering buying this camera but i have heard that the image quality is pretty bad(cromatic aberation, purple fringing, high noise)...is this true??
also i heard that when handheld at 20X zoom its image stabilization is not enough and the pictures come out blurry??
I haven't had any problems with bad image quality. And in this video I zoomed all the way out, and the picture I snapped in the middle was taken at the farthest it would zoom, and I thought image quality was pretty good for the length of zoom. The image stabilization is working fine for me. Of course there's going to be some camera shake at 20x zoom, but it doesn't really make the pictures blurry.
this camera is amazing, I just picked it up. Thanks for the demo footage though for others who may be interested. Out of a LOT of research and buying and returning cameras, this is the second time that canon has won in terms of the best zoom/audio/video in the camcorder/movie function. This camera even records a whole hour without stopping... Canon rules ;o)
awesome!

what are the negatives of this camera
GuitarrrLegend 3 years ago
I think overall it's a great camera. Only negatives I can think of offhand are:
1. There's no string to connect the lens cap to the camera (but this is more inconvenient than anything else.)
2. It uses AA batteries, but again, this is just annoying to me as someone whose previous cameras were all rechargeable.
3. It records videos in .mov format, which means I can't edit them with windows movie maker, which is all I have.
Other than those, it's great! Sorry for the late response!
