How to make cheap ass fallout shelter is basement.. Build large frame capable of supporting a full swimming pool of water. Line the walls of the shelter with a frame to line with plastic, and fill with water. If you can totally be surrounded by a meter of water you will be safe from radiation. There will still be the dust that is more or less more dangerous than the original blast's radiation. Maybe for the dust one can get plastic and vapor barrier tape, and bag the entire inside of the house.

well every American should have supplies..Problem with this nation is no one saves , no one cans food anymore, no one gardens.. We have become so dependent on the system that its scary... Five years ago I would've thought he was overreacting to bad news press. However, it wouldn't be prudent to rely on the government for anything is what Keith Proskura is telling us. I think of Hurricane Katrina and how the people suffered. Cut down on soft drinks, smoking, or any other non-productive activity that you do.. and use the money for your "preps" youtube is full of how-to "prep" videos.. Good luck.
@saburius Anyone, any budget. It took years to collect all this. I use the gear and doesn't just sit there. Don't just buy camping gear and let it sit waiting for a disaster. Go camping! Don't buy cheap crap. Buy important items one at a time as you can afford it. Look at yard sales and flea markets and buy used online. Go in with friends to buy bulk. Use coupons and buy food in bulk. Split bulk items up with family. Great way to save money regardless of prepping.
@saburius Firearms can be expensive. A used Ruger 10-22 is cheap, uses cheap ammo, and great for small game. A used .38 revolver would be a great start for home protection. I volunteer on a HAZMAT team & was issued the suit and mask. No cost to me. I help keep the community safe and also keep myself safe. Ham license is cheap. Radios can range from $75 used to well over $3K. Start with a weather radio or scanner and FRS radios. Learn and practice skills (more important than gear). Start small.

Some companies offer their meals in a freeze dried state.Think of all the water you would need to store, locate or carry (and possibly purify) to make these meals edible. One person commented on not wanting to buy expensive MRE's. $5- $6 is too much for a meal? What does BK, Wendy's or Taco Bell cost? MRE prices aren't bad if you can buy in bulk. Shipping is usually what kills people price wise. Nobody is telling you what to purchase. Do what is right for your family's needs and budget.
Personally, I would feel more secure and safe in a remote location. Like many in the US, I reside in an urban area. I envy those living in the mountains, forests or plains far from others. Before anyone new posts about telling the world what is in my basement- I have common sense. Supplies are stored nearby in a safe location. The items Anastasia pulled from a bag were part of a 72 hour kit I sell - important items which should be kept near your door or better yet, in your car.

@saburius Anyone, any budget. It took years to collect all this. I use the gear and doesn't just sit there. Don't just buy camping gear and let it sit waiting for a disaster. Go camping! Don't buy cheap crap. Buy important items one at a time as you can afford it. Look at yard sales and flea markets and buy used online. Go in with friends to buy bulk. Use coupons and buy food in bulk. Split bulk items up with family. Great way to save money regardless of prepping.

@saburius Firearms can be expensive. A used Ruger 10-22 is cheap, uses cheap ammo, and great for small game. A used .38 revolver would be a great start for home protection. I volunteer on a HAZMAT team & was issued the suit and mask. No cost to me. I help keep the community safe and also keep myself safe. Ham license is cheap. Radios can range from $75 used to well over $3K. Start with a weather radio or scanner and FRS radios. Learn and practice skills (more important than gear). Start small.

Some companies offer their meals in a freeze dried state.Think of all the water you would need to store, locate or carry (and possibly purify) to make these meals edible. One person commented on not wanting to buy expensive MRE's. $5- $6 is too much for a meal? What does BK, Wendy's or Taco Bell cost? MRE prices aren't bad if you can buy in bulk. Shipping is usually what kills people price wise. Nobody is telling you what to purchase. Do what is right for your family's needs and budget.

Personally, I would feel more secure and safe in a remote location. Like many in the US, I reside in an urban area. I envy those living in the mountains, forests or plains far from others. Before anyone new posts about telling the world what is in my basement- I have common sense. Supplies are stored nearby in a safe location. The items Anastasia pulled from a bag were part of a 72 hour kit I sell - important items which should be kept near your door or better yet, in your car.

I have not seen any lies, so its up to us Americans to decide what to do with this information, do we sit back and do nothing because RT was the one that told us? or do we take this information to make our country better, and stronger, its up to us. RT does a lot of fluff pieces but they also have great reports on the corporate and political corruption. its up to us, what we do with this information, dont matter the source or motive
