  • There's actually four versions of this song (including this). There's two Mustang versions, which are different (the other was just an undubbed version of one of the Mustang ones).

  • These songs were great to slow dance to. Stack them up in the 45 changer and it's a party. This is a little jewel! I still like the Beatles better.

  • the mustang years was the first time i heard tbff in it's earnest he was going places

  • I remember very well, playing this song on a 45rpm record, over and over again when Bobby died. He was becoming so popular, and was so talented. I think of him often.....rest in peace Bobby.

  • This is the original melody and lyrics my Mother Mary Stone wrote in 1963 when her 2nd husband who was in the US ARMY was transferred to Alaska 1 week after the earthquakes. This was just a working demo tape that Bobby (Robert) could work off of and change the song into what it became. "A NEW SHADE OF BLUE" was also in "Boy's Don't Cry" and "Deadbeats" movies.

  • @bffour

I love this song, and this version in particular (i dont care what the 'rabble' in the comments section say, they're wrong haha).

As far as i'm concerned, your mother has achieved more with this song here than what The Beatles did in their entire career.

It's straight from the heart....a resource of wealth Lennon/McCartney/Harrison failed to ever tap into..

  • @bffour When I caught the beginning of that film, with this song sung by fuller, i HAD to watch the entire film, just to read the credits to see who sang it! One of the most haunting songs i've ever heard. My favorite Fuller song.

  • I was wondering about this song as well. I think they combine the songs together to conserve tracks.

By the way, do you know the name of the secret track on "The Chase?"

  • Good version, but I still would say that the best version of this song is the one which is one the "best of"..

  • Nice song! never heard before..

Very nice! El Paso Rock Forever!!!

  • The other version of "New Shade of Blue" is better.

  • I find this version so much more 'after hours' tbh than the other 'over-produced' version..

This stomps and kills the other version quite frankly. The fact its a 'hidden' track is proof enough....
