  • Mano a mano means hand to hand

  • What a tease - my 2 favorite Ian songs merely hinted at! Would have at least liked to hear the conclusion to the controversy of who wrote the melody

  • They didn't write it, no. It's a trad song. Dylan did it too, it's an updated version of "Wagoner's Lad". Tom Russell recorded a great version of it on his 1997 album, "song of The West".

  • and it's called "Rambler, Gambler".

  • @Mntgoatsfan The song is Gallo del Cielo, written by Russell, Tyson.

  • @rlaycock No, it's not. This is "Rambler Gambler", and another thing: Ian never co-wrote "Gallo del Cielo" with Tom, Russell wrote that one on his own.

  • They co-wrote this song, as they've done on others. Check "Rose of San Joaquin", Tom's version is posted on YouTube. The two of them are both great songwriters, and the synergy of both of them writing together is wonderful. Last fall, both of them, along with Eliza Gilkeyson, were on the "Folk Train" , a 3-day rail trip from Vancouver to Edmonton, stopping on the way for all to play concerts, and the travel in between filled with their music. I'm saving my pennies for next year's Folk Train.
