  • The only 100 percent fact is they are both awesome .

  • George Jones may have done the original but Johnny Cash took ownership. Johnny was a prolific story teller...it is all in the phasing of the songs he sang...I miss you Mr. Cash, thank you.

  • George's version is my all time favorite Country Song. This always reminds me of an old flame....star crossed lovers, I guess. I've never heard any one else sing it and I appreciate John's tribute to the song and to Mr. Jones.

  • Holy Shit I just realized that the guy in the song died

  • Stick with your own songs Jonny, stop chopping up George Jones' songs. George Jones..The greatest country music singer.

  • @mm1270 You don't have to worry about that. Cash is pretty dead.

Also I don't think he would have read or cared about your comment anyway and also if talking directly to him please refer to him as Mr Cash. (Or perhaps J-Casho)

  • This is a real good tune!

  • Love Johnny but George sang it better.. great song..

  • as much as i love johnny cash, goerge does this song better!

  • Folks! When one legend covers the song of another, it's a sign of r.e.s.p.e.c.t., nothing more. I am so grateful to hear this version by Johnny, but of course George Jones is the definitive recording, no need for anyone to be upset or argumentative. Cheers!

  • @charlyW34 couldnt agree more!

  • LOOKS LIKE TONY LARUSSA!

  • this song made me relize she wasnt for me...... after three breakups, thousands of i love u's, i stopped loving her today

  • @Dimwit943 what a queer

  • After reading through the comments for this video, I have come to the conclusion that MMA is for closet homosexuals.

  • @dhuang8 oh yeah that's real intelligent, born w/ fetal alcohol syndrome or to a crack addicted mother-whatever pussboy, enjoy the protection of your computer

  • @32Rainking aren't you also enjoying the protection of your computer? Strange argument amigo

  • i love this song

  • the aforementioned MMA lesson will only cost you your ability to chew solid foods, ability to walk w/o a limp, and quite possibly the last small fraction of your brain that still works. It will gain the public an eight-10 month respite from your idiocy, add an easy win to my record-you can tell a person by what they say-and you, whatever you are, can't do anything well, and are a total coward, that much I know. There's an address in my profile,if you need clarification,I'll happily provide it.

  • Loved it! Johnny is the man!

  • Sry jones done it best, bye yall.

  • cash is the man or i wouldnt listen to him but this was terrible and sounded like shit

  • wow

  • george is WAY better for this song, i'm a huge cash fan though

  • @FahadOrfali1993 i feel the same way

  • I am glad Johnny Cash kept singing until late in his life.

  • Johnny Cash sat at the old county court house in Binghamton New York and talked to an old vetiren (did I spell that right?) And wrote, uhm, old tattered flag, I think?

  • im a hugh cash fan and with no disrespect like goerges voice with the song much better

dont get me wrong johnnys version is good to

  • im a hugh cash fan and with no disrespect like goerges voice with the song much better

  • This is SO good!

  • Both of you shut the fuck up

  • Do folk come on youtube to listen or argue????

  • i love this song i would love my firdt love til i die

  • Monotone voice?

    Fucking cock

  • i hate readin this shit you boys need to put your peckers away and grow up

  • Yeah Im sure you are ignorant enough to think he was just being "nice"

First, Cash has its entry on Hurt's wiki, pay attention to Trent's quote on the site

And there is a link to another article talking about the first time Trent played it for Zach de la Rocha and they both were choked up.

So obviously you have no clue about music or how vocals change a song.

  • you either get it or you dont....most people get it.......I guess Johnny wasnt for everybody.....but i loved the man and his music and was lucky enough to have seen him live 4 times over 3 decades...60's 70's 80's........John always had the best pickers and singers with him......it was a show...great till the end

  • I think Johnny sounded great considering his age and health at the time of this recording! I wonder how many of you would sound good if you had the lung problems he had! Johnny was AWESOME! George Jones is AWESOME too!

  • Well, everybody. He doesn't sing it as good as George Jones by any stretch of imagination but then again, NOBODY sings ANYTHING as good as George Jones. Maybe it's not the best choice of song for Johnny Cash. But Johnny Cash was a genius in his own right. God bless Johnny Cash & George Jones.

  • Cash just doesn't do this song the same justice as Jones and Faron. They by far have the best version

  • no doubt jones does the best version ever , but you have to admit this is plain simple and brillient, long live the music of cash

  • tom jones did a great job with this song it is a great song

  • I've always loved Johnny Cash but I didn't care for his singing this song. I thought no one could sing He stopped Loving her today like George Jones, but I just listened to Faron Young singing it and now I have 2 heroes on this song. (: OneKewpie

  • oh lokiius thats harsh he just does it in his style.

if you dont know why peeps love him .then you dont get it.

he actually touches peoples feelings .

a vary rare trait in tdays industry.

  • @LokiusMaximus funny how opinions can differ. Johnny's 'Hurt' far surpasses the original.

  • @CrazyDaddy420 True, even Trent Reznor (Rezner?) had said how impressed he was with Cash's cover and what an honor it was.

  • @LokiusMaximus Cash is amazing on almost everything away, the original is a classic but he hardly butchered it and unforgivable for what he did to hurt? Thats amazing considering even trent reznor says he did a better job than NIN ever did and he feels like hes singing Cash's song now.

Try and learn just a little bit of musical taste before showing how stupid you are.

  • @LokiusMaximus YOU ARE SO GOOD AT MUSIC. jUST HOW MANY HITS DO YOU HAVE?? well

  • @EARTHQUAKE8448 I take if you never say when a player on your favorite football or basketball team sucks, eh? You never say when a politician in office stinks. You never criticize anyone who does something you do not? I don't need to be good at singing to know Johnny Cash has a terrible, monotone voice. The sounds that come out of his sewer just never seem to flow very well. Just check out his versions of Hurt, this, and Big Iron. Other singers do far better in all cases.

  • @LokiusMaximus

Thats opinions your saying you damn idiot. Just because your heads up your ass doesn't mean we're all gonna kiss it. You like one voice I like another and no one is right or wrong. Yes some singers just have no talent, but I would like to see your argument that this man don't.

And I aint saying this just cos it's Johnny. He's a man that wrote his own music, and did so to convey a message and not to rake in some money, and I'd say the same thing about any man that did the same.

  • @MysterousBear He didn't write all his own lyrics, though he did write a good amount, but what's your point? Pretty much every metal band that exists out there writes their own lyrics. While I love metal and know there are many great metal band; I also know there are a lot of garbage ones who also write their own lyrics. So I ask, what was your point there?

Seriously, I think the only reason some people like Johnny Cash is because think they are supposed to.

  • @LokiusMaximus

My point was exactly what I said. Your up your own arse if you think you can decide whats garbage and whats not. Of course, Justin bieber, Kesha and all the other manufactured shite are terrible, they don't write their own things, they have no interest in a message etc. But if a man spends his time and effort on making music, and especially if so many people appreciate it, you can't say it's garbage. Because they made what they wanted to hear.

  • @MysterousBear I see, so it's not ok to judge something you like, but as long as it's Bieber or Kesha, then it's ok because in your opinion, they are manufactured and terrible. Interesting how you suddenly became the judge yourself.

  • @LokiusMaximus

No, not at all. It is a fact, denied by no one at all, that Justin Bieber does not write his music, nor does Kesha. They cannot play the instroments, their voices are autotuned, they lip sync their lives shows. For this reason, I do not include them under the term "musician" "artist" or "good thing to happen to the earth".

Now when your done grasping at straws I really think we should leave this alone it's not going anywhere.

  • @MysterousBear Me grasping at straws? HAHA. You are the one being a non-stop hypocrite. Who are you to decide what qualifies someone as a musician or artist and to say they are bad because they don't do certain things? Then you turn around and say I can't say Cash is horrible (which he is)? I love people like you. Always great for a laugh.

  • @LokiusMaximus

Jesus christ. I am someone is not a musician IF THEY DON'T WRITE MUSIC, PLAY AN INSTROMENT OR SING PROPERLY. Who am I to say that? BITCH I AM MYSTERIOUS BEAR!

  • @MysterousBear And again, you are still a hypocrite. I say Johnny Cash is terrible because he sounds terrible. Who am I to say that? BITCH, I AM LOKIUSMAXIMUS!

  • @LokiusMaximus

FFS that is not a reas-

    you know what?

You are right and how did I not see this. I'll never listen to him agian. Thank god for Lokiusmaximus.

  • @LokiusMaximus I think LOKIUSMAXIMUS should suck my ten inch PENISMAGNIFICADO......you are a little di9cked loser.

  • @cowboyfan1113 I am curious if you have even hit puberty yet. Thank you, come again! :)

  • @cowboyfan1113 while everything about this pathetic pussball,-this cowardly insult to the intelligence of gnats this(I could go on all day)-is certainly true, don't drop to his level.U can make wittier things up, if they R bad qualities/insults/descriptions of a coward, you know they'll apply to him. What U say is true, but it makes you souind like you aren't much above his level, which I know you are b/c you at least disagree w/ his pitiful musings.Try harder please

  • @32Rainking chill out, sometimes the best way to fight stupidity is with stupidity....stupidity is the only thing that makes sense to someone like him, he made the comment "bitch i am lokiusmaximus" so i responded back with my comment which i thought was witty.......i didnt ask nor need ur opinion on whether u liked, thanks anyways. Try harder

  • @cowboyfan1113 Yeah that's a good point-but this guy like transcends stupidity, retardation, ignorance, moronacy-you name it.&he calls me immature b/c I wanted him to meet me&beat him to a pulp-he thought that made me immature.I'm an ex MMA fighter, just wanted to dislocate his joints and shatter his jaw so the youtube community&real worldwouldn't be subjected to the BS he spews;does that make me immature?I think not. He's just pissed b/c I'm more intelligent,tougher,braver-better@everything than he

  • @LokiusMaximus

    *I am saying someone

  • @LokiusMaximus which he is? Do you own the truth, mr. maximus? His voice is old and rugged, but carries more depth and sincerity than your little brain will ever fathom.

  • @uglymoon78 My voice is depth and sincere as well. Guarantee no one wants to hear it. I have no problem with old rugged voices when they flow well. But Johnny Cash is well overrated. It's just more proof that the media can build up anyone they want. Cash was just an early Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga but in a different genre.

  • @LokiusMaximus You know, I've found such an enormity of idiotic comments on youtube, that I've been forced to accept the fact that there is no hope for the future. This new generation, though I've found many exceptions-many that are part of it by their age but despise and abhor it almost as much as I in their hearts-is just about as shallow,narrow-minded,stupid lazy&cowardly as can be.& at times I've wondered,if there were a moron that embodied that stupidity,cowardice&lackofdepth-you are them LM

  • @uglymoon78 Amen, Though I can put it more eloquently, you have him figured. He's as shallow as a puddle of newborn naked mole rat piss,as weak as a 1 layered,non-corrogated cardboard box left in four days rain,as dumb as a wet rock&about as worthless as a homless person's discarded socks. As an ending to this&my earlier statement, we've found the most worthless human being on the planet.Maybe if he's tortured to death in time. in public&on TV after his views are known,we can still turn this around

  • @32Rainking Ah, it's funny how you old farts are when someone insults your entertainers. Actually, that's the public in general. You say you have been forced to accept the fact that there is no hope for the future? I say I am the one who has been forced to accept that. I find it amazing how people will bend over backwards for their celebrities. I imagine you're one who is also dying because the NFL season may be lost. haha. Go ahead, bend over for your entertainers then ask for seconds.

  • @LokiusMaximus HAHA HA that's funny-how old do you think I am cumstain?I'm only 33-how old RU,14? You have no idea about anything-I got a kick out of your homepage,so full of insults and devoid of friends-probablly mirrors your pathetic, wasted life. If you'd've checked mine, maybe you'd have spared yourself from looking even dumber than you already have-if that's possible that's possible-but then again,I doubt you could figure out my age from my birthday NEway,UR afraid of Blacks eh-so pitiful UR

  • @32Rainking If you are 33, then please learn to act like it. As for my Youtube homepage. I don't live my life on Youtube. I reject all friend requests I receive because like Facebook, I don't need people knowing anything and everything I do. Sure I have negative comments, but that all comes from political discussion that you would never understand (below your intellectual capacity). Unlike others, who delete all their negative comments on their page, I leave mine. Doesn't bother me.

  • @LokiusMaximus Really,U don't live your life on Facebook-everytime someone laughs about what a cumstain you are-you respond immediatley.I understand that your pathetic ineptitude isn't seen much, even in a world full of stupid people, but damn you respond in 2hours tops.I"ll be away 4days&U always have pathetically weak comebacks 2 my insults that don't measure up.You don't deny friend requests-U never had any, just like the real world. And yes, you are below my intellect,I'm so far aboveU even know

  • @32Rainking Responses go to my e-mail account. What is funny is how you seem to usually respond quicker than I do. "u always have pathetically weak comebacks 2 my insults..." That just goes to prove my point about you being intellectually inferior to me. An insult online is like a fart in a tornado. It means nothing. As for being clueless about music, I will say something along the lines of your intellectual ability so you actually understand me. NO U!

  • @LokiusMaximus Hahaha moron-that"below your intellectual"level is what they call a freudian slip,Uaren't near my level;on anything.I can out-think U,out fight U,outlast U-&so on.U have shit taste in music, the# of lame words you type 2the contrary mean nothing.Quality-not quantity.Since you're afraid to fight me,I'll challenge U2 an IQ test-same deal w/the MMA lesson,if you grow a pair,NEtime-address on profile.W/U being the most pathetic person in the world, your weak insults Rcompliments, thanx

  • @32Rainking Will the two of you please stop duking it out here? We just want to listen to good music, don't spoil it.

  • @32Rainking For someone who claims to be in his 30s, you sure seem to have a hard time writing out full words or even complete sentences. What is funny though is that you think I care if you "insult" me. As I said, an insult online is like a fart in a tornado. I don't even try, nor care if I insult you. I just write exactly what I think and if you are insulted by it, then it's whatever to me.

  • @32Rainking I think you are a very lonely man. For someone making a big deal of having "no friends" (because we all know the online world is what's important. *eye roll*, you only have 11 on Youtube yourself. Yet you take the time to write a book because you think someone cares about you. It's kind of sad in a funny kind of way.

  • @LokiusMaximus Have you listening to any other record by Cash, or are you just judging from this record alone? In the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, or even the 90s his voice had as much flow as you could wish for. I heard him in concert in 1982, and his voice was a towering, dark and majestic bass-baritone and his stage-presence just awesome.

  • @uglymoon78 I'll admit I havn't heard tons and tons of Cash songs. But from his famous ones... From this to Hurt to Burning Ring of Fire (which is decent, but still not great), there seems to be no flow to his voice ever. I love Marty Robbins classic Big Iron (yes, I admit, Fallout: New Vegas is where I first heard it), but when I listen to Cash's version, I just don't like it. Part of it in Big Iron could be the background music Cash chose to have go with it. But I still don't like it.

  • @LokiusMaximus He did Big Iron when he was old and frail and had no voice left at all. It seems to me that you've only listened to his latest work on American, the best of which is great in itself, by the way. In his younger days, when he wasn't strung out on pills or his throat wasn't parched from too much smoking, his voice was a real rumbling delight. But I realize that this discussion is pointless. Personal tastes are what they are - personal tastes. Which are hard to discuss, after all.

  • @LokiusMaximus Hey earthquake, see the weak little circles and pitifully weak defense machanisms of that geriatric gerbil on thorazine running around in that rusty wheel that constitutes a brain of his works!?;) I think he might be truly retARDED maybe we should chill-I know he's uber annoying, but at best he's a crack baby.

  • @32Rainking Aww, how cute, you opened up a thesaurus to try and sound smart, but failed amazingly.

I find it funny you think I am pissed. I honestly don't care about you. Responding to you is a way to pass boredom. I can tell this matters to you, so if it makes you feel better, keep on insulting. Former MMA fighter? Hmm.. Just have taken some hard knocks because with the way you write, it sounds like it. Not only did the roids shrink you nuts, but I think they gave you anger issues.

  • @LokiusMaximusJust b/c Uneeda dictionary to understand my vocabulary, doesn't mean I do;I'm just way smarter than you. Then Ucontradict yourself again.Wow,UR1 braindead MF'er!Come find out if I'm an mma fighter. If you grow a pair, meet me@210 Moser Rd,Pottstown,Pa anytime Uwant-it's a gym I frequented that closed. The lot's blocked&no cops can see us.It'll be the worst day of your life&that's really something w/a bum like you.I'm done w/words-I've ownedU everytime, nows the time 2destroy Uphysically

  • @32Rainking I dun needa diktionpary to undastan gheddo speeks. It doesn't make you intelligent when you throw a bunch of big words together to try and sound smart. It actually makes you sound like a retard (which I imagine you probably are). And why would I go all the way to PA to fight someone I couldn't give my last night's shit about? If I ever see you, it will be because you break into my house. At which point, 12 gauge to your face and it's all over. Castle law. I love it. :)

  • @LokiusMaximus Why do you keep copying what I say and claiming I'm a psuedo intellectual, and just admit your afraid of me, dumber than me and just pathetic. If I did break into your house, you wouldn't get the 12 guage out in time, your neck would be snapped&I'd make off w/ the stale box of cookie crisp and your jar of change that's full of pennies w/ one nickel. Keep firing back bitch& I'll keep making you look dumber and dumber, though you do a good job of that on your own.

  • @LokiusMaximus as far as you go cowboy fan, when you think of something even on par w/ this impotent pussballs stupidity, let me know, then I'll answer his stupidity w/ stupidity-till then I'll just own him verbally over and over till he grows a pair and meets me for his MMA lesson.

  • @32Rainking I still find it funny that you think you are worth my time and spending $1k to go meet you at some gym in PA to fight some washed up UFC wannabe. This conversation has played its course and I am done playing with someone whose brains were made into jello long ago. It's funny seeing you blow up when your homosexual fantasy of Johnny Cash is insulted. But alas, you are now boring me. I imagine you will believe you won. Kudos to you since that actually seems to mean something to you.

  • @LokiusMaximus It wouldn't cost you 1k 2get here&it'd cost more than that 4 med bills if you live,so where you got that figure's the same place you pick your BS retarded opinionsThis hasn't been about Cash4 weeks, it's about getting my hands on you&destroying a parasitic waste who every1 hates. It's funny,Ueither copy my insults or act like a 4year old. Then make up excuses to avoid me smashing you, like the lies about me&the many others who despise you.I've owned you 20times online, gimme your

  • @32Rainking give me your address, or preferably a place nearby where the cops can't see us, and I'll come terminate you-you have to find a way to prove it's yours, but there goes your excuse,so man up or shut up, I've made a fool out of you verbally, now I'd like to give you an MMA lesson.

  • @32Rainking *yawn* You owned me 20 times online. Pat yourself on the back. That makes you a man. *eye roll*

  • @LokiusMaximus I'd like to own you in person too, but you can't flush a coward out on the net, anyway, youre so f'ing retarded you're probably a homeless, Listerine addict that passes time in internet cafes'. BTW, I thought you were done responding, many times are you going to say that&otherweise contradict yourself; putz.

  • @32Rainking You also said you were going to own me and I am still waiting for that. I laugh every time I read you say MMA lessons. "MMA MAKE ME MAN! RAINKING SMASH!" It's obvious you've never fought a fight in your life and are a pimply faced kid who masturbates to Brock Lesnar while dreaming you could suck him off. As I said, you are a lonely man as shown by your need to give your life story on a Youtube profile. Even more so by the fact you think online friends are important. I pity you.

  • @LokiusMaximus Do you two really have nothing better to do than argue over the internet on the bottom of a Johnny Cash video? Please, just keep it to yourselves and let us enjoy the music. It's what he would've wanted.

  • @JDzombaK I only say something now&again NEmore;went a bit overboard for a bit,I just couldn't fathom how anybody could be so stupid,so clueless,so lacking in musical taste&such a pussy-all the same person mind you.He doesn't like Cash or any good music;you should've directed that 2me.I guess I can lay off,he kept saying he was gonna stop, but he'd spew more moronic, delusional crap-he's a waste of life&it just irked me slightly-he even admits I'm above his level,I can tone it down,he's bored me

  • @LokiusMaximus I don't care-I've grown tired of you-you bore me, i didn't even read thias last comment, let me know if you grow a pair till then try and lose your virginity. take it heavy, bum

  • @32Rainking Aww, I really hit a nerve of yours; a truth. Not that it was hard for anyone to see. :)

  • @LokiusMaximus Wow,you are really delusional, there is no hope for you.You couldn't hit a nerve of mine if you had a bazooka and I was 2 inches in front of you-well-I'd've already snapped your neck;so let me revise, you couldn't hit a nerve of mine if you had a tank&I was 2ft away-you're just too ineffectual a person, who's worth nothing. So I've not been on in over a week and there you were still crying&spewing idiocy,I almost feel sorry4Ubut yeah keep it short,I may read it,So Sad-your new name

  • @32Rainking I thought you were done with me, RainKing? Oh, you were on vacation. Gotcha. Whatever. For someone who claims to be such a man for being big into MMA, you sure care a lot about me and Youtube. "RAINKING LOVE MMA! RAINKING SMASH! RAINKING REALLLY A 14 YEAR OLD PIMPLY BOY! RAINKING THINK YOUTUBE IS LIFE! RAINKING SMASH MORE! RAWWWRRRRR!"

It is funny when Rainking exists and has arguments with himself. He still doesn't care that I don't care whether or not I insult him.

  • @LokiusMaximus Even though this one is as retardly delusional as all your other comments and indicitative of your delusional personality, &it's obvious you're describing yourself w/the 140 lb shyt,as I use my real pic&go a good 225.If I were to use a fake pic, don't you think I'd pick some1 better looking,in spite of the muscles? But this 1 has a touch of creativity&yes,I have a bit of an anger problem so it made me laugh a bit;if you'd kept the lies out of it you'd've made me look dumb once.

  • @32Rainking You can't even see your pic. At least you admit you're an ugly motherfucker. haha. Again, I really don't care if I insult you or make you look dumb. It matters not to me if you were the UFC champion nor the quarterback of the Denver Broncos. I just point out what is obvious and in this case, I will point out the obvious fact that your brain has been scrambled more than once.

  • @32Rainking I just write whatever I feel like writing and if the alias of 32Rainking is offended, then I don't care. If he's not, then I also don't care. If he thinks he "owned" me online, then I don't care. The only people I know who think "owning" someone online means something is someone who is still in high school and new to the net. Rainking is the type who stares into the mirror at his 140lb body and sighs. To compensate, he lives in a fantasy land where he's a "macho" MMA fighter.

  • @LokiusMaximus wow, I just wish one day I wouldn't have a moron like you w/ a comment in my box, stop living online, and if I was 140 lbs, then come fight me, or tell me where you bitch ass lives. I'm about rapped out. You just type fantasy, and it sucks.

  • @32Rainking Too long, not gonna read it-Aren't you dead yet-I did see "living online" again-damn,you're the1 who does it,see I called U on it like a month ago&ya proved it again fillin my box when I was on vacation-it's a defense mechanism of the weak minded(YOU),called projectionism, but you're the only excuse4 vomit I've seen dumb enough to try&use it on the1 who already called you on the reality of your life&hence makes up BS about the person who told you the uncomfortable truth of your life

  • @32Rainking You know you could stop filling my inbox too,but I see;you wish you were me,you copy my insults, pretend you don't see my pic, wish I weren't telling the truth about things, wish I had to use a thesaurus2talk circles around you, etc, but if I were as pathetic asU I guess I'd wish I were me also. But I'm no role model&don't want you as a psycophant.Besides,my life is exciting, but I have alot of problems too,I only seem perfect b/c compared to you.

  • @LokiusMaximus He wasnt being nice, he was being honest and to this day will admit that he doesnt think of that song as his anymore. And of course you cant stand a voice that has depth, its lost on child like minds.

  • @LokiusMaximus Why should Reznor be "nice" and sweeten the truth? Are you calling him a liar and a whimp?

  • @uglymoon78 I don't know what he's saying about Reznor-but I'm calling you a pathetically inept bag of equestrian aids infested horse semen, a pussy, a coward and retarded impotent baby, who's afraid of black people thus a disgrace to your race. I also bet you couldn't land one punch on my "old" ass b4 I break every bone in your face&dislocate every joint in your body. You want to try it, I'll provide you w/an address, come see me, then no one will have to hear your shyt anymore.

  • @32Rainking I didn't even know you were black, and it's got nothing to do with this discussion at all. My comment was an answer to LokiusMaximus. I'm tired of this disussion, it all boils down to personal tastes, and that's all there is to it. But just don't demand that us cashfans agree with your deranged remarks. What are you responding to, before we take this any further?

  • @uglymoon78 I don't know what he's calling Reznor.I however,am calling you a pathetically inept, impotent, worthless bag of equestrian aids infested horse semen.Furthermore,U are scared shitless of blacks, which makes U a disgrace to your race.Intrestingly,URalso a disgrace to your patheic mother&family, pathetic only b/c they didn't try a 2nd abortion attempt after the 1st one only left you w/less than half a brain.Further,if you have a problem w/thisUcan meet me for an MMA lesson-

  • @32Rainking Stay way from me lowlife! How dare you?

  • @LokiusMaximus You are clueless about music-so clueless it's funny-I've never seen anyone quite as dumb as you.I mean are you like literally retarded, but, oh man, I'm laughing too hard, below my intellectual level-yeah you got that right, LOL, LMMFAO,1st time you ever said anything meritous.Yeah I know my intellectual level, oh I can't stop laughing-do you realize how pathetic you are, lol, oh my

  • @therealsteamingpile Exactly, and this whimp insults us Cash-fans by suggesting we can't think for ourselves, that we like Cash just because everybody else does. What a bunch of bullshit. I became a fan when I was 13, now I am 53. According to this arrogant little douche bag I was brainewashed then and I still am now. But he really doesn't deserve all this attention, he deserves to be ignored completely.

  • @therealsteamingpile Cash is great, but that's Trent's song all the way!

  • george jones sings this so much better

  • Johnny Cash was/is fantastic, but no one should do this song but George. This is George's Swann Song, and I don't think anyone could do this song to my liking other than George. That takes nothing away from the talent that Johnny Cash had. Just like no one should do Folsom Prison other than Johnny Cash.

  • yes george jones did it better but i know johnny is singing this to his beloved june... this man really loved her....he stopped loving her onhis last day on earth.

  • Is there really a need to write another love song after this?

  • Cash is a legend

  • this song always make me cry!!!!! moreso now that i lost my mother!!!!!! so very sad

  • this song always makes me cry!!!!!!!1 moreso now that i lost my mother!!!!!!!1

  • THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL VERSION..BETTER THAN OLE GEORGE JONES

  • @collette333 NOT!! haha. don't get me wrong, johnny is good but this just isn't that good. george jones does it better. johnny cash sings it short. what i mean is that he doesn't take time and george takes more time and sings with emotion

  • @bowlin3483 I understand what you're saying. Johnny Cash doesnt really hold a note like George does. The music sounds almost staccato compared to George version. But this is a good version but yea, George's version does have more emotion.

  • i dont think its that good either... although i love cash sounds like a cheap cover

  • @charlieohms I love Johnny Cash too but for some reason, I feel George Jones' version is more...emotional.

idk the way he sings it it's just.....ahhh

  • @charlieohms Love Johnny Cash..but he doesn`t do this song justice..Too fast and is talking it...Nothing like the version of George Jones..Some cash songs that Geroge couldn`t do well either..I guess..

  • great cover

  • i could listen to this all day long

  • they played thisa song at my unckels funeral ant he did stop loveinger that day this song brings tears to my eyes every time i here it

  • mac423

    How true!!!!!!

  • Never thought ol' John could match (almost) Georges' version. Bullshit, John did NOT make a fool of himself, because he was a great artist and a profound man.

  • Johnny does a good job on this, its George's song for sure. I heard Bill Mack say that someone onced asked Johnny "if he could sing like anyone who would it be?" His Response: you mean besides George Jones.

  • Nice version. There is no reason to rate them or put down Possum or Johnny. Enjoy them both. I have loved Johnny since I first heard "Walk the Line." It affected me like it did Rodney Crowell. If you are not familiar with Rodneys tribute to Walk the Line (which Johnny sings on) give it a listen. However, this is George's song. It was rated the #1 recording in the history of Country Music.

  • Jones is cool but any of u who think he's better than Cash ur out of yur stinkin minds! Cash was/is the best!

  • Comment removed

  • lol your right mac423

  • "If we all could sing like we wanted we all would sound like George Jones. " -Johnny Cash. I think Cash put an end to debate whos better Cash or Jones. Jones by far, hell even Cash thinks Jones is better.

  • great version a lot better than the wife beater jones fail .

  • This is made all the more poignant by the fact of Johnny's profound love for June; he was dead within a year of her passing...PEACE.

  • oh just the best..

  • Beautiful, the two best ever. Comparing Cash and Jones is like comparing The Holy Spirit and Son in the Holy Trinity.

I think it was Kris Kristofferson who said that if country had a "Holy Trinity" it would be Hank, Johnny, and George. He called Hank the Son, Johnny the Father, and George Jones the Spirit of country. No blasphemy intended, just making a metaphorical analogy.

  • @KingofCharity Wouldnt Hank have been the father as he was first, and basically did father country?

  • @KingofCharity Great words by Kris there, and I agree!

  • love johnny cash, but no one beats the possum!

  • @girlbaby35 --

His voice is gone in this time....

he had done it back in 1971!!! Then the song would been WOW....

(like compairing a 1932 coupe against a 2010 Zo6 vette).... TIME makes it unfair!

  • george jones and johnny cash were very good friends so am sure tht george was hugely honoured tht the man in black wanted to cover one of his songs

  • I love Johnny Cash! But this is not half as good as the george Jones original. I heard a cover by Alan Jackson that was better to, when he was a kid.

  • I'm a huge Cash fan and this is a good cover, but it's just not the Possum. Jones' version brings tears to my eyes every time.

  • Be honest. You can't listen to this cover version without thinking of the George Jones original. That's the sign of a legendary performance by the greatest singer ever...and not just in country music.

  • I prefer Johnny's, just because it seems harder, but this is George's signature tune, to me. I'll always associate it with him.

  • This is simply perfect. Thank you for posting it.

  • Did anyone think that Mr. Cash coverd the song......because he liked it..? and Not as a slight to Mr. Jones?

I'm sure Mr. Jones was touched

  • i prefer george jones , but still this is a wonderfull version ...johnny cash is the boss

  • this version gives permission...

  • AWESOME ......

  • Cash could have sang the theme to Sesame Street, and we all would have still stood and listened in respective silence.....

  • Well said. So true :D

  • no lie, search

Sesame Street: Johnny Cash Sings Nasty Dan

  • @mac423 he actually did: /watch?v=H75eQX006jA

  • @mac423 lol True

  • @mac423 Well said!!! <3

  • I personnally prefer the jonnhy cash version... the jones' one is a bit too soapy for me...
