  • Hey great video man but does anyone know what effect eddie van halen uses for this song on the keyboard man cuz I'd appreciate the help

  • Bravo!

  • Lush sound and great playing. Nice view of keyboard. Well done!

  • really great !

  • Is it just me or does jump never get boring this by far the most influential keyboard sound and playing ever thanks eddie we love u.

  • Did you plug it into the camera this sounds good

  • Very unique, doesn't need to sound exact, mine doesn't. Very cool good sound and video that's good quality really help's A+.

  • super bien, suena bacano

  • gracias

  • This is amazing!! I LOVE this cover!! you did a fantastic job!!

  • good.

  • Great job - and that from a life long VH fan.

  • How did you make the drums?

  • I just did them on the keyboard.

  • Wow... my keyboard is not that good, I can only play the song alone

  • Eddie Van Halen could NOT have played it better himself! Bravo!!

  • I appreciate it!

  • this is definetly the best and closest cover for jump. Great job......do you think you can do a tutorial for this?

  • Thank you! Yes, I could do a tutorial. I just really don't have the time right now. Maybe down the road though.

  • sweet!

  • great !!..I like this song =D

  • um, legit.

  • i took like 3hours trying to play this and find the right keys on my keyboard.

i can play on a real piano but my keyboard is cheep with like 60sumpthin keys..

  • nice i´m singin along with this video XD

  • Awesome:-)

  • dude. sounds great. how bout a cover of why cant this be love

  • nice ... only sinte xD

  • Van Halen's Jump; the only use for keyboardist's

  • Is the video the same as when you recorded the song? Because I notice you take your hands off the keys before the note ends.

  • @SpeedDemon88X he most likely has a pedal(watch his feet)

  • @SpeedDemon88X He has a pedal so he can take his hands off

  • Yes, I'm using the pedal too. It sounded to choppy without it.

  • what is the pedal?

  • @MusicNXS

Try turning the reverb up instead of using a sustain pedal. I found cranking an analog spring reverb all the way makes it sound spot on. I'm sure the Motif has a model of a spring reverb you could use. It's kind of funny how just about every keyboard/synth since 1987 has had a "Jump" preset. Any who keep up the great work and post some more Motif videos please. =D

  • Never thought of doing that. Thanks for the tip!

  • @MusicNXS

No problem. I've also found using a tinge of portamento and some pitch bend to the second oscillator gives that huge sound we hear on the record. So how do you like the Motif? I've been thinking about getting one. Which odd as it may sound I need something with sitar, steel drums, and other various ethnic instruments along with an ample amount of choir samples. Weird eh? =P

  • I absolutely love it. All of the samples sound just like the real deal and can be tweaked to your liking. I'm pretty sure it has all of the instruments you're needing. It could probably use a few more choir samples though. It's a powerful beast.

  • @MusicNXS

Thanks. Right now it's between Fantom X or Motif XS. Guess I'll have to hop down to Guitar Center. Right now I'm using a Roland JX-8P from 1985. Even though it has that wonderful analog warmth, 6 note polyphony is quite limiting,,,

  • It's called a sustain pedal.

  • He's using a sustain peddle to hold the notes out after he takes his hand off the keys.

  • WoW!!!!

  • Sounds good mate, but it looks like your right hand pinky is useless lol :P post more videos

  • Thank you! No, I don't know how to do that. Especially going from Yamaha to Korg. Sorry about that.

  • amazing would be an understatement ...

  • mmmmm thanks hey and the drum kit.. how did you do??

  • sweet nice job witch i could do that good job

  • it sound exactly like the original;) nice

  • hello bRo, i have the same sinth, can you tell me how did you do thats effects, for example:

    Organ-B- 03

    Kit drum: D- 16

I bought it yesterday, and i dont now very well how to use, im mexican, thanks, answer me please, i can play that song but in acoustic piano, but sounds very well. help me please.,

  • On the right of the keyboard there is a button that says "voice." Press it, and then press the synth button, or whatever category you want. Then just scroll through the list to select which voice you want. The synth sound is called "After 1984." That's about as simple as I can make it.

  • Nice! Me and my family have the same keyboard but no one really plays, but I'd really like to.

  • Yamaha make good keyboards. But from what i've seen, Roland usually has better sounds. I'm kind of a sound-whore so.. Lol.

  • Midi I think

  • Simply amazing! If i didn't know better I'd say you were faking it!

  • wow that was great i love it!!!

  • hey awesome dude i was just wondering what sounds did you use on the keyboard?

  • Thanks! the synth was After 1984, drums Rock Stereo Kit 2, Bass was a passive BB 1&2 I think, and the faint strings was called Stringy. Hope that helped!

  • Wow thanks dude that helped a lot :) keep up the awesome skills!

  • wow....very good!

  • i have no explination for this.. its sooo amazing!! good job!! yeah the best cover for "Jump" on youtube

  • You should get together with kentkarlevi and his awesome guitar playing and make a new video together..

  • whats a good site for keyboard tabs you know?

  • Nope, sure don't.

  • The best " Jump " cover i see on Youtube.

    Congratulations

  • Thank you.

  • The best Jump patcj ever heard! Congrats

  • yamaha motif xs7 or 8 very expensive kweyboard

  • Yes, but I'm almost convinced they're worth every penny.

  • WOW...

  • cool

  • WoW!!!!!!!!!!

  • WoW!!!!

  • SERIOUSLY how much u want for it?

  • A man how much u want for that keyboard?

  • This song makes me want to hop in an 85 Camaro IROC-Z, and jam to it. LOL

    Good Job!

  • that sounded like the real thing holy

  • You did a GREAT job, and that song is a whole lot of fun to play. I think it is the phat sounds that are so perfect for the song and melody.

How many tracks are programmed? I have an XS8 too and what a great keyboard! I run it with the STAC a lot, that's my invention on chordboard.

  • Congrats man!

You're just recorded the THE BEST Jump cover on Keyboards I've ever seen/heard.

    Congrats!!!

  • I have to say that this is the best jump keyboard cover i have ever seen. PERFECT!! and the sound is unbeatable!!!

  • I appreciate it!

  • WOW!!!! tHIS ROCKS! HOW DID YOU GET A GREAT PATCH 1FOR THIS SONG OR THYPE OF SAW LEAD?

  • Thanks! Well, the keyboard already has a sample that sounds just like the original, so with a few changes to delay and sustain to the sound, you get that fat sound you hear on the album.

  • one time at guitar center i went to the keybord piano section, and this long hair dude started playing this out of no where and another random dude started singing, funniest thing at guitar center ever

  • LOL. Lots of things like that happen at guitar center.

  • I rarely post comments on here and more so with cover songs but damn dude that was great , Your a talented man,

  • LOL. Thanks!

  • this is great! how much did that keyboard set u back? and is it really a keyboard or is it a synth?

  • Around $3,200. I'm not sure what you would call it. In the title it says "Yamaha MOTIF XS8 Music Production Synthesizer Workstation Keyboard" so I guess you could call it a "Synthekeyboard" LOL. Thanks for your comment!

  • Perfect!

  • Show!

  • 2:47 needs to be played faster,but it´s cool!^^

  • That part is, in my opinion, the hardest part in the solo. The rest is really easy, but i cant those five notes down, which is sad, considering you play them over and over again.

  • Wow!!!

  • amazing.....

  • Really awesome !!!

  • I like the faint strings sound in the background.

  • FUN!!!! ;)

    Diane

  • what voice are you using?

  • It's the After 1984 voice on the Yamaha Motif XS 8. I kind of tweaked it a bit to give it a more realistic and vintage sound that the song calls for.

  • YES! After 1984 is kickass, isn't it? This sound is fairly nice, sir!

I like my sound with the R3, though. VERY phat, VERY vintage, and it has all the punch and portamento i'll ever need!

    NICE VIDEO!! :)

  • Great jump!!!

  • HE'S GRRRRRRRREAT! ( "They're grrrreat" a frosties cereal advert from the Uk...)

  • Hey M.A.N. This is the best cover of jump that I have seen. Nice keyboard also. Yamaha, right? Only the best, For the best! Give us more. We Love You!!!!!!!!! 5*****

  • Good work! You may have spent very much time doing all the background music.... very good! Keep up the good work!

  • Nice performance :D

  • Hey buddy that's some fantastic keyboard playing! Keep up the good work! God bless!!!

  • Wow... very goooooooood...

  • Great job! Very impressive that you done all the music yourself.
