I started with Orwell then worked towards the classical especially Voltaire and now I'm reading more random like the Kalevala and the man in the iron mask
De gustibus non disputandum est. I like reading the successive editions of the Chicago Manual of Style in particular because it has been by and large the bellwether manual of format and style for about a hundred years. The rise and fall and evolution of various topics and treatments in CMS tells the story of American style. It would be harder, I think, to grasp that same "story" of style by reading a variety of books in each decade rather than examining the edition of CMS for each decade.
I have to wonder. Do most bibliophiles actually take the time to read all the books they accumulate? I would consider myself one. And I am systematically working my way through my entire collection. But it seems like most get too caught up in the materialism of it all, collecting different editions of the same book. That's a colossal waste of time, at least in my estimation. Instead, focus on reading as many original books as you can in one lifetime.
Fabulous. I have early Wm. Strunk, and could certainly use a 1st of Chicago and Turabian. If you live close to OKC, there is a collector group, The Bibliophiles of Oklahoma. Can't link here, but google finds us easily. Good luck!

Is that a Encyclopedia Britannica set In the background?
What is the set of that Encyclopedia anyway?
Your video is great. I've always had a passion for books.

No collector can match Richard Heber's collection. Born in 1773, Died in 1833 (strange how its both 33's), anyway...
He began collecting at the age of eight, collecting between two and three hundred thousand books, eventually filling seven houses of books!
The man was a god of book collecting :)

The Umberto Eco debacle! OMG.. That is priceless. If this wasn't so eerily familiar I'd be laughing at you instead of with you.
